Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. I'm going to talk to you today about are you a lazy born? I want to start off by sharing a scripture with you, and I want to take this forward, very familiar passage, but I just wanted to remind you because it's something I've felt that's such a time they need of the art for the Body of Christ. It is found in Proverbs six, verse six to eight, and I'm reading from the NLD version and this is what it says, take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones, learn from their ways and become wise.
Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work. They labor hard all summer gathering food for the winter. The Bible is saying to us, and especially addressing those who fall into the category of being a lazybone, I want to ask you this question, Are you a lazybone? I use somebody who needs to pay attention to this word. I use somebody who's been procrastinating what God has been asking you to do. Maybe you're just going with life. You're not lazy, as in, you're not just sleeping all the time.
Maybe you're going to work, you're getting your things done, but you're putting off the things that God has called you to do. Maybe he's calling you to maybe do something towards your calling, maybe your gifts, your talents, your ministry, or maybe to work on your God given dreams that He has placed in you. But you're just putting it off, saying, oh man, I'm so tired, I'm exhausted, and you're just giving lazy excuses. You're just lazing around just watching TV, watching something on Netflix, or maybe weekends you're just hanging out, just sleeping, watching something, eating and sleeping.
You know. See, there's a place for resting. There's no doubt about it. There's a place you can't overwork and get into places for a state of burnouts and all of that. You need to take time to rejunate, you need to take them to rest, you need to take care of yourself. All of those things are true. But the other extreme is don't be lazy. Don't be so much in a place of comfort, like you know what, you know, it's too much work, I don't want to do it, and so on and so forth. See, I'll tell you honestly, it's I'm not running the ministry because it's easy.
I'm not doing what I'm doing because it's easy. It takes effort, it takes time, it takes commitment. And I have a full time job. I have so many things on my plate. I have battles that I'm battling. But the reason I still go ahead and release episodes every single day. You know, yesterday's episode was the nine fifth episode on the Daily podcast, and I was just thinking, for more than a year, or almost more than two years, I've been releasing an episode every single day without a break. You know.
It's something I was like, Wow, Lord, you know, I'm not putting myself here and saying, look what I've done. But I'm just saying that, you know, when you have a heart to do what God wants you to do. Yes, you may be tired, Yes you may be exhausted. Yes, that are days you don't feel like doing it. You're dealing with your own battles and maybe emotional battles or physical challenges. Maybe you're not feeling well, maybe you have issues that you're dealing with him mentally and you're just not in the right place.
But you know what, if you still commit yourself into the hands of God and say, God, you know what I'm available for your use, do what you want to do in my life, and I'm telling you he will give you supernatural strength, He'll give you the ability to do what you need to do. And I'm telling you, yes, even releasing a short podcast, sometimes I'll tell you what, just a ten minute podcasts may take even an hour because of the distractions and the disturbances that I face in my area in different ways, the enemy tries to make a discourage.
At the same time, there are times when you know I need to get something done, maybe a YouTube video or or a real and I'm like God, you know what, I just have this many minutes. I can't have time for retakes. I can't do multiple shots and all of that just got give me the grace. And I'm telling you, sometimes just one take and it's come out really well. And it also does really well. You know. That's what I want you to understand when you have a heart to say, God, you know what, I'm not gonna be lazy.
I'm not just gonna be complacent about life. I'm gonna take it serious and I'm going to depend on you. I'm telling you, God is going to give you the grace to do what you need to do right and and at the same time, I'm also want to tell you sometimes there could be real people here who are listening who are actually lazy, you know what I mean, Like I'm not kidding. Okay, last week I met two people in my circle. I don't want to mention where I met them, and these people. One of them, okay, for a long time, you know, he was like struggling financially.
We try to help him financially, you know, sending out a lot of money, you know, because my heart is to help them, you know, less fortunate, right, Um, it's not just preaching, but you help those in need. But you know, we tried helping getting him a job, but he was like, no, I don't want to work, blah blah blah. And then at some point, you know, I met him last week and he was still you know, trying to ask for money. You know, I said, you know what, why don't you work? No, I don't want to do it, you know.
And another person I was talking about, you know, who's like, you know, I'm so frustrated with the life. I'm like, okay, you need to talk to God, you need to pray. And then he's like, oh no, I don't feel like doing it. See you, if you're led by your feelings, you're not going to see a change. You're not going to see a result. You're not going to see a positive output. And and I want to just remind you, you know, if you're going to be lazy, if you're not going to take the step that you need to take, if you're not going to do what you're supposed to do, you're not going to see a result.
You know, I told this person, you know, even if you don't feel like working or going to work, I'm talking about the second person I'm saying, right, you still go to work because you need your salary. You'd need to get your things done, even if you don't feel like you're doing it. Then how much more if even if you don't feel like you should pray, you should do what you're supposed to do. You know, if you're just sinking down, then you're not doing what you're supposed to do. See. I understand that can be days you feel low, you don't feel like praying.
All of that is true, but at some point you know you need to dig your heels in. You can't just keep crying and cripping about it the rest of your life, you know, for months and years together in the same place. You have to take hold. See the Bible is very clear. It says take a lesson from the anti lazy bones, learn from their ways and become wise. They labor hard all summer. So it's trying to tell us that, you know, working hard is like it's something you know God is not going to make you do it. I hope you are able to understand God is not.
These guys are like, you know what God should give me? This godo? I mean, what are you doing about it. God is not helping me come out of this depression? What are you doing about it? If you're not taking time to pray, you're not taking time to feed on God's word, You're not taking time to receive, You're not taking the step that you need to take. How are you going to see the change? How are you going to see the difference? You know what I mean? He needed to get to that place today. Guys, you know today I'm gonna ask you this question.
Are you in the place of being a lazy bone where you know you're supposed to do something but you're not doing it. You're just you know, I was stilling the other person the other day, he said, you know, he was trying to put blame God. You know, God is not doing anything. Listen, there's no point in blaming God if you're not doing what you're supposed to do. You know, if you have an interview and you're not preparing, you're not getting us off prepared with a proper resume, and you know you're not doing what you're supposed to do, and then complaining and getting angry with God that you didn't get a job.
It's down God's fault. You get what I'm saying, or even um, what's the other thing? Like? Even in an examination? Right, you had to do your part and God will bless the efforts. That's what we believe. And today that's my challenge, you know, getting to that place where you learn this lesson from the ends and say, God help me, I depend on you. I can't do this on my own, but I depend on you and receive that strength from God. Receive that grace of God, and receive the mercy of God, and He will give you what you need and the ability to not be lazy, not be complacent, but to fulfill your God given purpose.
