Do You Truly Have the Assurance of Salvation? John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
On the cross, the repentant thief turned to JESUS and said:“JESUS, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
JESUS responded with powerful words:
“Today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43)
Notice something remarkable. JESUS didn’t say “maybe.”
He didn’t say “we’ll see.”
He didn’t say “after you prove yourself.”
He gave complete assurance.
The thief’s physical situation didn’t change. He was still on the cross. Nothing improved externally. But in that moment, JESUS gave him the greatest promise anyone could receive: eternal life.
In this Good Friday episode, John Giftah reflects on the assurance of salvation and challenges listeners with an important question:
If you died today, do you have the assurance that you will be with JESUS?
John also shares a vulnerable moment from his own life when he wrestled with doubts about salvation and how exploring near-death experiences and interviewing Pastor John Burke helped strengthen his confidence in the truth of the Gospel.
This episode reminds us that salvation is not based on our perfection but on the promise of JESUS.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John gift Podcast. As if we're celebrating
Speaker 2: or remembering what Jesus did on Thecross two thousand years ago,
Speaker 2: this Good Friday, this old week, we've been studying various
Speaker 2: aspects which recurud to the incident twittercard to the two
Speaker 2: thieves on the Cross with encountering Jesus, and I really
Speaker 2: recommend you to go back and check that. But today
Speaker 2: I want to just conclude this. When Jesus was replying
Speaker 2: to this man, this is something that you might know
Speaker 2: it's just a generic thing this, But then I just
Speaker 2: wanted to put it out there to remind you and
Speaker 2: make sure that we're all in the same page. Tootcard
Speaker 2: to this. And when this man says, Jesus, remember me
Speaker 2: when you come into your kingdom. I shared with you
Speaker 2: in one of the recent segments, how that expression, that
Speaker 2: language he used shows that he looked at Jesus as king,
Speaker 2: and he looked at him as one who had a
Speaker 2: kingdom right. He didn't look at him for what he
Speaker 2: saw on the outside, the one who was beaten, the
Speaker 2: one who was nailed, the one who seemed helpless. He
Speaker 2: didn't look at how he saw things from the outside.
Speaker 2: But he looked at him as king, and he said,
Speaker 2: remember me when you come into your kingdom. And Jesus
Speaker 2: responds to that man, and he says, today you will
Speaker 2: be with me in paradise. Today he will be with
Speaker 2: me in paradise. There's so much to unpact, so much
Speaker 2: to learn in this when Jesus was saying this to him.
Speaker 2: But this is an assurance for each one of us
Speaker 2: that this man did not have to wait for some day.
Speaker 2: In the sweet buy and back, he said, today you
Speaker 2: will be with me in paradise today you will be today.
Speaker 2: Like he knows he's going to die today. He was
Speaker 2: telling him, listen, man, you're going to die today and
Speaker 2: you're going to be with me. I'm also going to
Speaker 2: you know, die and we're going to see each other.
Speaker 2: We're going to be together in paradise. I'm going to
Speaker 2: be with you. You're going to be with me. You see.
Speaker 2: That's the essence that when we give our life to Christ,
Speaker 2: the situation around us may not change. Like for example,
Speaker 2: when he said it, he was still on the cross.
Speaker 2: His physical situation did not change. The pain probably increase more.
Speaker 2: He was in deeper like anguish and you know, can't
Speaker 2: wait to die kind of fulfil the It would have
Speaker 2: felt very torturous. But Jesus cave this word saying today
Speaker 2: you will be, which meants which meant that here's the thing.
Speaker 2: Your situation around may not change, but the word has
Speaker 2: transformed you, or the promise is what sustains you, or
Speaker 2: the fact that you have repented has set you this
Speaker 2: assurance that today, any minute, when you pass from planet
Speaker 2: to Earth, you're not going to be forgotten. You're going
Speaker 2: to be with me in paradise. This is a lesson
Speaker 2: to us or a reminder to all of us that,
Speaker 2: you know what, no matter how the situation is, we
Speaker 2: have that assurance that when we connect with Jesus, things change.
Speaker 2: Today you may be saying, oh, I'm a Christian. My
Speaker 2: question is do you personally have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2: Do you have that actual assurance and conviction from the
Speaker 2: top of your to the source of your feet, with
Speaker 2: all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul.
Speaker 2: Do you have that assurance that if you pass from
Speaker 2: planetre today, if you stop breathing, your heart stops beating,
Speaker 2: or the roof over your head comes down, do you
Speaker 2: have the assurance that you will be with Jesus or
Speaker 2: do you have fear? Do you have doubt? Do you
Speaker 2: have anxiety? Do you have anything that's giving you a
Speaker 2: feeling like maybe what if I don't make it to Heaven?
Speaker 2: What if I don't be with Jesus? What if I
Speaker 2: land in hell today? Let me tell you something. This man,
Speaker 2: you know, if Jesus said you know you have to
Speaker 2: do some good deeds by then you know, then only
Speaker 2: you can come. This man is stuck. He can't do
Speaker 2: anything right. See, I'm not saying is this a place
Speaker 2: for good deeds? You can't say, you know what I'm saying,
Speaker 2: And I can do whatever bad I want. I can
Speaker 2: live in a sinful life. That's a different thing. I'm
Speaker 2: not saying that. But what I'm saying is this man
Speaker 2: had nothing to prove, he had nothing. Only he could
Speaker 2: do at that moment was believe and confess. Believe and confess.
Speaker 2: That's why the Bible says in the Book of Romans,
Speaker 2: believe in your mouth. So believe in your heart and
Speaker 2: confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you
Speaker 2: will be saved. This is all that happened. Nothing changed
Speaker 2: in the physical, nothing changed, you know, emotionally or even
Speaker 2: mentally for that matter, probably, But one thing is true.
Speaker 2: That is assurance that when he passes, he's not going
Speaker 2: to be lost. He's going to be with Jesus. He's
Speaker 2: going to be with Jesus. And there's a reason why
Speaker 2: I'm not mentioning or specifying the aspect when he said
Speaker 2: he will be with me in paradise. I don't want
Speaker 2: to us to word paradise right now, because now that
Speaker 2: Jesus died and the veil is already removed, now when
Speaker 2: when we parts, we actually go to be with Jesus,
Speaker 2: who is seated at the right hand of the Father. Right,
Speaker 2: So we don't have the aspect of paradise, right, Paradise
Speaker 2: existed before Jesus finished the work on the cross. Right,
Speaker 2: So all of this, Abraham and all of them, initially
Speaker 2: they were in paradise, you know though. But the through
Speaker 2: is the when Jesus died, those who had died in
Speaker 2: Christ they also got up. Okay, there's there's a deep
Speaker 2: teaching to it. I'd probably teach that another time. But
Speaker 2: but then that's the thing. So let's not get complicated
Speaker 2: with the theology of you know, the paradise or heaven
Speaker 2: at this point. But the message for us is that assurance.
Speaker 2: Today you die, the next breath you breathe will be
Speaker 2: with Jesus. That's what the Possible said, Like you here,
Speaker 2: you breathe your last the next breath that you want
Speaker 2: to take is going to be in the presence of
Speaker 2: the Lord. Do you have that assurance? And I pray
Speaker 2: that today If you don't have that assurance, lit today
Speaker 2: be that reminder for you. This good Friday will be
Speaker 2: a real good Friday for you where you will say,
Speaker 2: Jesus helped me have that assurance. I believe in what
Speaker 2: you did on the cross for me. You died for
Speaker 2: my sins so that I will experience the gift of
Speaker 2: eternal life. Not someday, not in the sweet by and by,
Speaker 2: but today I'm on that assurance that any minute I pass,
Speaker 2: any minute I die, I will be with you in paradise.
Speaker 2: I will be with you forever. I will be with
Speaker 2: you through all eternity. And I just want to, you know,
Speaker 2: close with this quick example from my life. Even though
Speaker 2: I've been a minister of the Gospel and a believer
Speaker 2: for ever since I was young, there was this moment
Speaker 2: where I used to get these anxiety attacks or panic
Speaker 2: attacks in the middle of the night, this fear of
Speaker 2: like if I die, will I really go to Heaven?
Speaker 2: Or am I going to go to Hell. I'll tell
Speaker 2: you also this that I have had encounters where I
Speaker 2: have seen Hell, so I know how bad Hell is like,
Speaker 2: not to their extent like where some have seen, but
Speaker 2: I've seen glimpses and they were horrible in itself. People
Speaker 2: who have experienced Hell in a different dimension. It's totally scary,
Speaker 2: It's totally it's not a place for us. It's definitely
Speaker 2: not a place for us. But and it's also not
Speaker 2: the gospel to scare people saying you don't want to
Speaker 2: go to help come to Jesus. I don't want that
Speaker 2: as well. But the truth is Hell is I do
Speaker 2: scary and being a minister, it was very hypocritical. You're
Speaker 2: preaching salvation, but you are getting these you know, anxiety
Speaker 2: or panic attacks in the middle of the night with
Speaker 2: a cold sweat and you know, like a fear that
Speaker 2: groups me like, you know, if I die, now, where
Speaker 2: am I going? And that is the moment when I
Speaker 2: encountered these you know, this message by this interview of
Speaker 2: pastor John Burke, who's run owned in the area of
Speaker 2: near that text experiences and he was on the Sean
Speaker 2: Ryan Show where he shared about things and listening to that,
Speaker 2: you know, helped me get that assurance of how people
Speaker 2: of different faiths and backgrounds when they died, the other
Speaker 2: experiences when people actually clinically die see him and on
Speaker 2: hell and then they come back to life. And I'm
Speaker 2: telling honestly that you know, entire thing helped me so
Speaker 2: much that all those panic attacks stopped and I was
Speaker 2: more convinced ever that Jesus is the way, the truth
Speaker 2: and life because people of different faiths and backgrounds, everyone
Speaker 2: encountering the God of the Bible. And here's the thing.
Speaker 2: You might know this, but I've also got the chance
Speaker 2: to listen to interview him on my podcast. You can
Speaker 2: go down on the podcast platform to check it out,
Speaker 2: or you can check it out easily on YouTube as well.
Speaker 2: But just the thing, I want to tell you that today,
Speaker 2: even if you feel or you're dealing with something similar
Speaker 2: to what I'm shared, I just want to challenge you
Speaker 2: maybe check this out because it really helped me, because
Speaker 2: apologetics did not help me, but this helped me to
Speaker 2: be more rooted in knowing and having that conviction that
Speaker 2: Jesus is the only way, the only truth, and only life.
Speaker 2: And maybe that will help you to really walk with
Speaker 2: that assurance of salvation. And last year I even had
Speaker 2: an experience which I can't clinically prove, but I believe
Speaker 2: I had like an indie myself where I saw my
Speaker 2: body down and when I was very sick, saw my
Speaker 2: body down I'm going up, very similar to how people
Speaker 2: experience when they experience indies. Near the experiences, and I
Speaker 2: heard an audible voice from Jesus saying, go back to
Speaker 2: your body. And I got back and I came. I
Speaker 2: can't prove this to you. If you believe it, believe it.
Speaker 2: If you don't, it's fine, But I want to share
Speaker 2: these to let you know that Jesus, this Israel. The
Speaker 2: message to the Gospel Israel. So I challenged that you
Speaker 2: will have that assurance of eternal life. Amen. God bless you.
