Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John gift of podcast. All through this week, we're looking at various lessons that we can take away from the life of Elijah revolving around one King seventy nineteen, and we're specific also focusing on various aspects that we can look at with regard to having the right mental health right. Because I want you to understand that it just recorded a special episode with Reni Jacob on the actual aspects with regard to mental health.
Speaker 2: I want you to stay tuned for it because there's so much to unpack. But today we're going to look at some holistic stuff that we can learn from the life of Elijah, revolving this so that you can have the kind of life that God wants you to have. So one of the things I want you to understand is that there is a moment when Elijah, this mighty prophet who just brought fire from heaven, is now on the verge of a deep depression. And what I want you to get is that there's a moment where there's a threat from the enemy, Queen Jezebel, who's sending out a threat to Elijah, saying, you know what, by tomorrow, I'm going to make sure that you're dead.
Speaker 2: Right, She sends a threat, and he is so scared. And what happens is he gets up. He's so scared when you look at verse three, was afraid and rose and ran for his life. And he came to be Sheba, which belongs to Judah, and left a servant there. But he traveled a day's journey into the wilderness by himself, and he came down and sat down under a juniper tree. Now I wanted to understand something very important here, right one of the biggest things that you need to pay attention to when you're going through life.
Speaker 2: This may be in a place where you are maybe dealing with depression, or maybe it's just a practical thing that you need to remember that can prevent any form of negativity. It can be a prevention of depression, anxiety, wrong thought processes or temptations, or maybe it can be even panic attacks, or maybe fear or wrong influences over your mind, anything for that matter. The best thing I wanted to understand from the life of Elijah is not to do what he did when he was in that fear. You know what he did.
Speaker 2: He goes to this place called Beesba where he leaves his servant and he goes all by himself into the wilderness. Now we're going to look at what is the aspect of regard to the wilderness in tomorrow's episode. But I want you to understand something here. He goes into isolation mode. See, if you listen to anybody who teaches on therapy, anybody who is into the counseling space, one of the biggest things they will tell you to avoid when you are in the verge of depression or suicide or on the verge of panic attacks or on the worde of fear, or any time when you're not in the mental space that your need to be is to make sure that you're not in isolation, To make sure that you talk to somebody, to make sure that you are in the right community, to make sure that you are not just by yourself, because the minute you are by yourself, that's a very bad trap the enemy uses against you.
Speaker 2: Today, I want you to understand when you are in trouble, or when you are in that fear, or when you're having this approach through life, are you approaching life from a place of isolation where you're living like an island where it's just you and you, Or are you living from an approach where you're living in a community, community of believers, community of good people who have your good interest at heart, people who can mentor you correct you, show you the right way, people who can be there to encourage you, support you, stand by you.
Speaker 2: Because you see, the minute you try to live like an island, you can be washed away the minute a tsunami of attacks from the enemy comes. That is what happened with Elijah. The minute he was gripped with that fear. Instead of getting that community, what did he do? He got so scared he allowed himself to get into that wilderness where he said to his servant, you stay here, you don't come with me, and he went by himself. And what happened in that process? He was lost in isolation. He starts crying to the Lord, enough, Lord, take my life.
Speaker 2: I'm no better than my father's. He's in that mode where he's lost it at life. He wants to just end his life. Is he he wishes his life was over? He was in that suicidal depression. See sometimes we look at somebody and say, how can this person end their life? How can this person be so.
Speaker 1: Weak?
Speaker 2: How can they not care about their family and this end their life? Can I tell you someone take the mighty Prophet. Elijah went through that suicidal depression to say enough is enough. I want to die. He said, I want to die today. I don't know if you're watching, saying, you know what, my life is in a very bad place. Nothing is working out, nothing is happening, and I think I'm not a good Christian because I just feel like ending my life. I just feel like I just don't have the will to live. Anymore.
Speaker 2: Don't allow the guilt to grip over. You. Don't feel guilty for feeling like you don't want to live anymore because the Mighty profit Elijah himself went through that. But one of the things to look at what allowed him to go through that is because instead of going through that place, going through that difficult face with the help of community, with the help of his close ones who can encourage him and build him and support him and stand by him, he went all by himself. Today, I want to ask you this question.
Speaker 2: Are you approaching life by yourself? Or are you approaching life with the help of God given friends and family and community who can actually encourage you, build you up, support you, stand by you, and make sure that you fulfill the purpose that God has s in stuff for you. But if you are living by yourself, I want you to be cautious because that is an enemy trap through which he will make sure that it's all you. You face things alone, you have no strength to fight certain things because you need community to stand by you at certain points of time, and you need to be sure that you know what I'm just not going into this wilderness of my mind over and over wondering about life.
Speaker 2: See when when Elijah was feeling like this, he said, you know what, I just want to die. No, you might have heard this phrase. You know, an idle mind is the devil's workshop. But can I tell you something when you are by yourself, when you have nobody with you, when you are just going into that, into that isolation, you know what happens. The enemy is using that to make sure that you're just cut off from all sources of help that God wants to bring into your life. And that can actually prevent you from getting the healing and the deliverance and the wholeness that you need over your life.
Speaker 2: God, I want to pray in Jesus Name those who attempted to go into the mode of isolation because of maybe depression or whatever they're dealing with or they're dealt with. I pray that this will be a wake up call for them to give a call to someone, to send a message to someone, to reach out to someone and say hey, I need help, I need help, and let help come their way in Jesus name, if you want help, if you're in that place of desperation, reach out to me through social media or any means that you can see through YouTube or Facebook or whatever.
Speaker 2: I want to pray for you and stand by you through the season. Well, I want to challenge you to leave a comment and share this with someone and I'll see you back pretty soon. God bless you.
