0:59 a pleasing life where in regard to something or the other, you're just praying

1:03 and waiting upon God to do certain things. And you're saying, John,

1:07 I've been praying so much. I've been working so hard. I've been going

1:11 the extra mile. I have the faith and I've been asking God to do

1:15 it. But I don't know why. No matter what I do, it

1:19 seems like my prayers are not getting answered. I want to just share a

1:23 scripture with you that you know, really popped up to me this morning as

1:27 I was reading, and I thought I would share it with you in line

1:30 with this, and it is found in Psal one hundred and thirty five when

1:36 you look at verse six. So this is what it says. The Lord

1:41 does whatever pleases him. The Lord does whatever pleases him. This one scripture

1:53 that just popped up and I was thinking about this, that you can pray,

1:57 you can believe, yes, God is not going to put you down.

2:01 That there is power in a prayer in the sense that when you involve

2:05 God. The Bible says, a prayer of a righteous man availeth much that

2:08 when the church prayed earnestly in acts, well, they saw a result.

2:14 There's so many examples in the scripture. Elijah prayed and there was a reign

2:22 that came. There is an element of power attached to a prayer. But

2:27 what I want you to understand is that overriding that is the ultimate sovereign plan

2:36 of God. That's what I want you to understand. You can pray,

2:40 you can believe, you can say I trust in the Lord. You can

2:45 say that I know that God will not put to shame those who wait upon

2:49 the Lord. All that is there. I'm not denying that there's a place

2:53 for all of that. But There's one thing that overrides all of that,

2:58 and that is the fact that God is sovereignly in control. And this is

3:02 the scripture which I just wanted to share with you. There are so many

3:06 other scriptures in the Bible which talk about how the God we serve is a

3:12 sovereign God, which means that he knows how to sovereignly reign over everything.

3:20 You can beat yourself, you can do all sorts of stuff. You can

3:25 you know, go crying and you know, put on syclods and whatever under

3:32 the sun that you want to do, you can do. But there are

3:36 certain things if the Lord decides to not do something. If the Lord decides

3:42 to do something, no one can stop it because he's a sovereign God.

3:49 No one can question him. Because he's a sovereign God. He is the

3:53 King of kings and the lot of laws. And that is the place we

3:59 go to, in the total place of surrender and say, God, this

4:02 is what I want, this is what I've been praying about, this is

4:05 what I really wish would happen. By God, I realize that I can

4:10 pray so much, I can stand on the you know, in faith,

4:15 and I can just you know, stand on your word, and everything under

4:20 the sun I can do. But it comes to a place where I give

4:27 it over because I can't hold onto this anymore. Because God let your sovereign

4:32 will be done. Because you see, when you go to that place,

4:39 it's carry What if God does something I don't want? What if God brings

4:43 in something that I'm not passionate about. That's where you trust the goodness of

4:47 God. That's where you trust that the God we service a faithful God.

4:53 That's where you trust that the God knows that he has the best plans for

4:59 our life. Now, if you look at the same Psalm Psalm and thirty

5:04 five, just three verses before verse six, when you look at verse three,

5:10 this is word is says, praise the Lord, for the Lord is

5:13 good. See unlessen until you establish the fact that the Lord is a good

5:17 God. Understand, until you establish the fact that he is a faithful God

5:23 upon whom we can bang. Understand. Until you are rooted in the fact

5:28 that you know what, you can completely bask in his mercy, you can

5:34 completely soak and get yourself carried away by His love. That is the place

5:44 you can be, you know, rest assured that you know what things are

5:49 not going my way. I'm not going to allow that to work me up.

5:54 I don't want to get worked up because of it. I prayed,

5:59 I did the best I can. But I trust a sovereign plan of God,

6:03 and I know that his plans are good, and I know he knows

6:10 what's best, and I know that through my life he will accomplish his purpose.

6:16 See, that's where we come to understand that, you know, praying

6:20 and reading the Bible, or you know, our relationship with God is not

6:24 just about getting what we want. I want to tell you guys that that's

6:29 this wrong prosperity gospel where people think that it's all about what we want.

6:32 It's not about what we want. It's about being available to be used for

6:38 His purpose. It's about accomplishing his purpose, accomplishing his assignments for us,

6:45 his task for us, his will for us. And in that process we

6:50 will experience the kind of life that He has which will definitely be fulfilling,

6:59 reward and amazing. That's what I can see. Amen, God, bless
