When Doing Right Could Cost You Everything | Courage Under Pressure | John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
What would you do if doing the right thing could cost you your job… or even your life?In Exodus 1, two Hebrew midwives were ordered by Pharaoh to kill every newborn Hebrew boy. The pressure was real. The consequences were deadly.
But the Bible says something powerful:
“They feared GOD.”
They chose obedience over pressure.
They chose conviction over convenience.
They chose eternal reward over temporary safety.
And GOD honored them.
In this episode, learn:
• How to stand firm when culture pushes compromise
• Why fear of GOD must be greater than fear of man
• How integrity invites divine favor
This message will challenge you to examine where pressure may be influencing your obedience.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John gift of podcast. And I'm going
Speaker 2: to talk about something very important I want to share
Speaker 2: with you guys from Exodus chapter one. Right, we are
Speaker 2: living in a time and age where we see people
Speaker 2: who are in a place where there's so much of
Speaker 2: persecution happening on one side, or there is a moment
Speaker 2: where we are easily tempted to compromise or to slow
Speaker 2: down or to downtrack on the convictions. You know that
Speaker 2: we know this is the principles, the principle by which
Speaker 2: we need to live our life, or this is the
Speaker 2: standard based on God's word that we need to make
Speaker 2: this choice. But sometimes we can be pressured, maybe by
Speaker 2: ir authorities, or if I don't do this, I might
Speaker 2: lose my job. If I don't do this, I might
Speaker 2: get into trouble. If I don't do this, I might
Speaker 2: not get this opportunity again. So sometimes we tend to
Speaker 2: get pressured to just keep it going and do the
Speaker 2: wrong thing, even though we know that's not that I
Speaker 2: think to do just so that we can save ourselves
Speaker 2: or protect our peace, or just to make sure that
Speaker 2: everything is well with our life. But I want to
Speaker 2: share something very important with you. From Exodus chapter one.
Speaker 2: There's a moment when the king of Egypt, the Pharaoh,
Speaker 2: calls the Hebrew midwives, and he tells them that if
Speaker 2: you see a baby boy being born for the Hebrews,
Speaker 2: kill the boy, but if it's a girl, let her live. Well.
Speaker 2: Look at verse seventeen. It says the midwives, however, feared
Speaker 2: God and did not do what the King of Egypt
Speaker 2: had told him to do. I understand something here. The
Speaker 2: King of Egypt was the most powerful man in the
Speaker 2: world of that time. Egypt was the most proflination in
Speaker 2: the world of that time, and this was like a
Speaker 2: very serious offense. Right, And here's the thing. The midwise
Speaker 2: feared God more than the fear of this man.
Speaker 1: Today.
Speaker 2: My question is, so many times we say, oh, if
Speaker 2: I do this, what if I get political persecution, what
Speaker 2: if I'm attacked? What if something happens? So we tend
Speaker 2: to downtrack or you know, go back, or maybe we
Speaker 2: just tried to play it safe, just say, oh, you
Speaker 2: know what, I don't want to get into unnecessary trouble.
Speaker 2: But here's the thing I wanted to understand. Right, Even there,
Speaker 2: they didn't openly. When the king summoned the midwives and asked,
Speaker 2: why have you done this? Why did the boy allow
Speaker 2: the boys to live? The midwives answered saying, the Hebrew
Speaker 2: women are not like Egyptian women. They're vigorous and give
Speaker 2: birth before their midwives arrive. See, yes, the thing I'm
Speaker 2: an day to descent. I'm not here to tell you
Speaker 2: God allows us or wants us to lie. But sometimes
Speaker 2: you know, you have to be shrewd, or you have
Speaker 2: to be in a place where your wise to use
Speaker 2: the right opportunity to say things in the way that
Speaker 2: will not lead to unnecessary drama. Like imagine if they said, no,
Speaker 2: you know what, we will not do this Pharaoh, this
Speaker 2: is not the right thing to do. They will be killed,
Speaker 2: and what would happen. They'll be replaced by other midwives
Speaker 2: who might end up killing more baby boys. You know
Speaker 2: what I mean. So there is a place where you
Speaker 2: know how to stand firm, do what is right. At
Speaker 2: the same time, you know, put things in the right perspective.
Speaker 2: You know, put this in the right perspective. And look
Speaker 2: at verse twenty. The Bible says God was so kind
Speaker 2: to the mid vice, and the people increased and became
Speaker 2: even more numerous. And because the midwives feared God, God
Speaker 2: gave them families of their own. I want you to understand,
Speaker 2: God will not withhold any good thing to them that
Speaker 2: walk up brightly. The midwives honored the fact that, you
Speaker 2: know what, I need to obey God more than man.
Speaker 2: We need to have walk in fear of God more
Speaker 2: than the fear of man. And they did what was right,
Speaker 2: even in the midst of tremendous pressure, even though their
Speaker 2: life was at risk, they still chose to do what
Speaker 2: was right. And what happened God honored them. God showed
Speaker 2: up in their life today. That's the encouragement I want
Speaker 2: you to have that God will show up in your
Speaker 2: life when you stand firm against all odds. You know,
Speaker 2: Sometimes when I have to minister in certain places, I
Speaker 2: remember there's always this pressure to do it in this
Speaker 2: way or what if you you know, what if you
Speaker 2: get into trouble, people say say play it safe. See
Speaker 2: I'm not saying go and stir unnecessary, you know what
Speaker 2: I mean. Like, for instance, if there's a church that
Speaker 2: believes in a certain way and ministers in a certain way,
Speaker 2: I'm not going to bypass the order followed in that
Speaker 2: church and act you know, stupidly, I'm not going to
Speaker 2: do that. But in that if the Lord is leading
Speaker 2: me to minister in a certain way, you know, and
Speaker 2: it's blessing people, I don't care. I don't care if
Speaker 2: it's going to break some protocols, it's okay, you know.
Speaker 2: And even if I'm not getting an opportunity to minister again,
Speaker 2: that's okay, you know why, Because I want to walk
Speaker 2: in the fear of God than in the fear of man.
Speaker 2: What if they don't like it, or what if I
Speaker 2: don't get a chance to minister again in this place.
Speaker 2: That's the place I want you to be because God
Speaker 2: honored the midwives because they stood up for the fear
Speaker 2: of God over the fear of man. They stood up
Speaker 2: for what was right even when their life was at risk. Today,
Speaker 2: I want you to respect some areas in your life
Speaker 2: where you are standing firm for what is even if
Speaker 2: it means that you might go through some hurts you
Speaker 2: might have to you know, like maybe your business might
Speaker 2: have a detour, maybe you might have to change your job,
Speaker 2: Maybe you might have to make amends in your relationship.
Speaker 2: Maybe you might have to do something even change a house,
Speaker 2: change a church. But are you willing to do that?
Speaker 2: Because that's the right thing to do. Because when you
Speaker 2: put God first place, that's when things will start working
Speaker 2: out well in your life. And I want to believe
Speaker 2: the best for you as a child of God. Amen,
Speaker 2: God bless you.
