Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. When people were living for such long periods like nine adds, somebody sixty years or seventy years younger to them, you could have even been like he married his niece.
Today, we're going to address one of the most important questions that a lot of people ask very frequently. Some of them asked with the genuinity of their heart. Some of them asked with an intention of Hey, I found a mistake with the Bible. Hey I found there is a controversy with the Bible. I found an error with the Bible. Whatever be it. We're going to address this important question, who was Kane's wife? Why is the Bible silent about details like these? Why is the Bible silent about these things?
And making us feel like there was a controversy there was something like who did Kane marry Kane? Because people read the Bible from a superficial level.
They just read that Adam and Eve had two sons, Kane and Abel, and then they read that Kane killed Abel, and they're like, the Bible says that Kane went and married somebody and started a city. That seems like a controversy. Whom did he marry? How many people were there to start a city? It doesn't just say started a community. This isn't say he started a village or a town. It says he started a city. Well, I want to start up by giving you an analogy to help you understand the Bible from this perspective, and then I want to take this forward.
Okay, okay, listen to Scaffrey. How many people sailed on the actual Titanic? Do you know how many people sail? You're like, John, I don't know. Maybe roughly, can you think? Okay, let me just say come out straight, okay, roughly, you see they were around two thousand and three hundred people on the Titanic. Okay, let's take a rough figure of two thousand and three hundred people on the actual Titanic. Now, I'm sure you would have seen the Titanic movie. Right, that's one of the most watched movies.
I think so many people have watched all over the world. Now tell me, honestly, that's the movie Titanic. Tell you the eight said of all the two thousand and three hundred passengers, that's it. Due that Does it tell you where they came from, what were they doing, what happened when the heights were kide, what happened to them eventually? How did they die? Did they survive? Does it tell you all those details? No? Right, the movie just focuses on the main characters. Of course, the movie focuses on Jack and Rose, who are fictional.
But when you look at the real characters like the captain or Bruce has made the owner of the ship, or Thomas Andrews the builder of the ship, or when you say John Jacobastad the richest man in the world, who was traveling on the ship, these main characters who were on the ship are being focused throughout you can see what happens to them. You see how the captain dies, We see how Bruce's may escaped in this lifeboard, and so on and so far. So we see those details, but we don't see eights of all the details of all the characters.
Why, Why does that mean they were not there on the real ship? No? But can you imagine if the movie had to tell you as of all the two thousand and three hundred people who were on the ship, would you be able to watch a movie like that? Would they be able to produce a movie like that? That movie would go forever and ever? And even a movie like Titanic is three hours and fifteen minutes. That's like pretty long for today's a span of views, right, like people are not able to watch anything for longer than like on social media they have to watch for like thirty seconds.
And maybe movies they watch an R or R and with nobody as even the span of watching something for three and us. Can you imagine a movie that went on for many days or weeks together, or I don't know, maybe even months together. If they have to make a movie that runs so much to tell about every single person who was on the ship. It makes no sense. I mean, it makes no sense, right why because the emphasis on the ship, the emphasis is on what happened, the emphasis is on the main characters. Are you kidding what I'm saying right now?
I want you to understand that when you read the Bible, the Bible is not obligated to give you all the eight to said, of all the details of every single person who lived in the Bible times. You have to remember that the Bible is not obligated to do that. The Bible is not I mean, and even if the Bible wanted to do it, if the Lord wanted to give you all the details, it's not necessary. I don't need to know what did passenger number three hundred and fifty nine do when the ship hit the high spurg I mean, if I have to see every single passenger's reaction, some of them are sleeping, and so on and so forth, it's going to be boring.
You'd be like boring, I don't want to watch that, right. You would say that you want the main highlights. You want to know what happened. You want to know what happened to the main characters. And you have to understand that the Bible is also not just written to you to give you information. The Bible is written as the word of God. Now, if I am to come and give you a story of my life, and I came and told you eightsad of all the details, saying, you know, I was born in this hospital, I was going to this particular school I was going, and I had a friend with this name, and so on and so forth.
You know, if I gave went to such details and I told you, you know, I went to church yesterday. On the way I saw, you know, a blue colored house on this side, and all of those details, you would say, boring. I don't want that, John, I don't want that. It's boring. Right, you want me to tell you the main points, You would say, get to the point. And that's exactly what God is doing. We needs telling you. This is what you need to know, just because I'm not telling you something that's not media didn't happen while I'm recording.
Yesterday was Sunday, and I went to church, I met with these friends. I was telling them these things and so on and so forth. If I gave you all the details, you would be bored. But at the same time, if I told you some of the main points, you would be like, okay, So John has this kind of a lifestyle. So the Bible is written in such a way where God gives you an idea of what happened, to give you the important points that need to be conveyed, but doesn't have to give you all the details because it's not only going to be boring, but it's irrelevant to us.
So when you look at it in that perspective, you have to understand. Like the same way a movie Titanic focuses on the main characters to give you the line of what it is conveying about the ship and how it comes to an end, and so on and so forth, it brings out all those things. Same way, the Bible's focus is entirely towards the main characters who are ultimately in the line of salvation to tell us the word of God in telling us, this is the plan of salvation for you. That's what I wanted to understand.
That's why the Bible is specifically focusing on certain details, specifically giving you some details and not all the details. Now, you may say, but John, let's take it practically. Whom did Cain marry? Now, let's come to this. I want to start up by sharing a few scriptures with you and help you understand this. When you look at Genesis chapter five was three Adam was one hundred and thirty years old, and he got said and he said it says he had many other sons and daughters. You have to remember, and many other sons and daughters.
Now you have to remember something very important here. We look at this old story and think that it was just linear like in the sense that God created Adam and Eve Adam and he had Caine enabled. And what happens next Kane kills Able and then Kane goes and marries him somebody else and builds a city. And after one thirty years you have said, but you have to remember, that's not the linear order in which things happened, because you remember, God gave the command to Adam Medie to go and be fruitful and multiply, right, and so if they were just not being fruitful and multiplying for one thirty years they didn't do they didn't get any other sons and daughters, then they were not obeying God's command, which means that according to studies, they had many sons and daughters by this time already Seth was not the next son.
Okaye, Seth was just one of the sons they got at the age of one thirty. You have to remember that the same way when I tell you, like, okay, no, the Titan. You know, there were two thousand and three hundred people roughly. The actual count is not two thousand, three hundred. It's just a rough idea. And to say, okay, they were a round two thousand, three hundred people, right, we are not getting into the specific same way when you look at this particular case where the Bible says that God Seth, Seth is not the third son, you have to remember that because there were many other sons and daughters by that time, and according to different studies they will say there were several tens of thousands of people of who are already on planet third by this time, and initially maybe the brothers you know, intermarried with their own sisters.
But you also have to remember that this was something that happened over a long period of time. Now we look at it in our own understanding and today's generation people dye at like seventies, eighties and all of that, or nineties and stuff. Like that. But back in the day people were living for nine hundred years right like such long time. And so when you actually look at it in that context, it does not mean that Kane killed Abel right away when he was young. It could have happened many years later.
Because you have to remember something here. When you look at Kane when he was talking to God, he says this. You know in verse if you look at Kane kill killing Able and then talking to God. In chapter four he says in verse fourteen, anyone who finds me will kill me. And then you have to understand that Verse fifteen says the Lord said, no, I will give you seven I will give a sn punishment to anyone who tries to kill you. Then the Lord put a mark on Kane to warn anyone who might try to kill him. Now, want anyone?
What does he mean, want anyone? If there have only four people, what is there to one year? Like only Adam, Eve and okay, two people, Adam and Eve. Who is there? It could have been Abel's wife, could have been a big population which was there already. That's what I wanted you to understand. We think of the Bible and we just read like where is this it's there were not just three people there. They were more than that because the multiplication happened very fast during that period, because God was intending to multiply humankind throughout the year.
So you know, right from the beginning Adam and Eve and then they had children, and their children had children. So it could have even been like when Kine married a wife at this age, you could have even been like he married his niece. It would have been possible. Because see today people look at it like, Okay, somebody is marrying somebody ten years younger to them, or you know something like that, Like we look at it like that. But back in the day, when people were living for such long periods, like nine hundred years, they could have even marriaged somebody sixty years or seventy years younger to them.
Are you getting the context here? So I wanted to understand in that perspective, Kane wanted to marry someone the population was already huge, and that's how when he married he was able to build a city. The Bible says building a city is not like a community. It's not like three people let's started a community. You know, a city is huge. It's not just the village, not just a town. It's a city, which means the population was huge by that time. So there was no controversy in the Bible. When the Bible says that he met and found a wife, there was a region already, there was a land.
And so that is the whole idea. And when you look at these things and say, why is the Bible focusing on sets line? Because sets line is where you see Jesus coming. That's why he's one of the main characters. Like the way the movie Titanic focuses on the main characters, the Bible focuses on the main characters and the characters that are not mentioned. You don't need to know. You don't need to break your head on things that are all mentioned. And just because they are not mentioned doesn't mean they didn't exist.
And when you look at it in that perspective, you will understand that everything is going to work out. Just like the movie Titanic, when you see from the beginning to the end of the main characters are mentioned. From the beginning to the end, the Bible is focusing on the generational line of Jesus Christ to tell us about a plan of salvation. Okay, so when you read the Bible, read with this perspective in mind, and instead of thinking of why are these detas not given all of that? Understand God will give you the details that you need.
You know, God will give you what you need. God is not giving you all the information in the world. God is only going to give you the information you need for your purpose. God will only give you the information you need to fulfill your call a man. I hope this was a blessing to you as you watch this video, I really encourage you to share this around with other people so that a lot of people. I know this question was given to me by one of my Sunday school students, and you know, and in many places when I go do conferences and all of that, this is a question that comes up very frequently when people ask if can you explain why is the Bible silent about this?
Why isn't the Bible telling me who is Kane's wife? Will Here's some beautiful explanation, So share it around. Let it be a blessing to them as well. Lord, I pray for those who have these doubts.
