0:46 Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John gift of podcast. But I want to remind you of something very very important that you and I need to keep in mind. When we realize that when we are walking in a God given calling it a pup, we are called to be soldiers of God. And I'm going to talk to you about a very important aspect. When you look at Second Timothy chapter two, when you look at this passage, I'm going to be reading to you from the Message version one important verse It says a soldier on duty doesn't get caught up in making deals at the marketplace.

1:23 Speaker 2: He concentrates on carrying out orders. I want you to focus on this word. He concentrates on carrying out orders. Understand something very important here when you think of the image of a soldier. A soldier does not have the right to make decisions on his own. What he has to do is he has to be in the right position. He has to be ready. He cannot be entangled in things. If you look at the other translation, it says a soldier cannot be entangled in civilian affairs, which basically means like, for example, if you see a soldier is someone who fights for the country.

1:58 Speaker 2: He fights for the kingdom, not for himself. You and I are children of God. If we are soldiers of the king of kings and the lot of lords, and what we got to do is we're not just called to live for ourselves. We are supposed to live for the Kingdom of God. We are supposed to live for the enhancement of God's kingdom. And you're sitting I want to understand. A soldier never fights for himself. Now, if you see a civilian, what do they do? They're going around fighting or standing up for their personal justice.

2:25 Speaker 2: They're standing up for or I need water, I need a proper resources. This is in justice cost to me. So a civilian focuses on their own personal needs, but if you see a soldier always focuses on somebody else's needs. My question to you is are you being a true soldier of God? Are you? Are you truly walking in that face where we are not where You're not getting carried away by civilian affairs. You're not just you know, making deals at the marketplace. The messaguation says, basically, it says that a soldier is focus on his assignment and understand so what his position and his requirements are, and he is focused and he concentrates and he puts himself completely into it.

3:11 Speaker 2: Because if you see in verse one in the message version, he says, my son, throw yourself in into the work of for Christ. Throw yourself in. It's like imagine an image of people, you know, doing somersault into the ocean, or of jumping into this into a swimming pool. You know how they do that. You know they're throwing themselves in. You know that's the kind of an image you and I need to carry of us throwing ourselves into the work of God. Understanding that you and I are called to be his soldiers.

3:48 Speaker 2: And what's more important, understand he says, he concentrates on carrying out orders. A soldier doesn't decide things. He goes by the orders giving to him from his high command. This is a reminder for each one of us that we are not called to make our own decisions. We are not called to live our own life. We are not called to just make our own strategies and plans. You have to understand that you and I are called to go in that sense of discerning the voice of God, which I've been talking to you and reminding you of, and go ask for the command that you received from the Lord.

4:25 Speaker 2: You know one other things that I've made making a personal commitment, especially in this year's God, I don't want to preach anything by myself. I don't want to preach something just because I have a lot of data available. I have a lot of information. Because I'm sure you might know this. I was just talking to someone a while ago. You know, have released thousands of pieces of content right, more than two hundred episodes on the podcast alone, plus over the last thirteen years, which is of the Man.

5:00 Speaker 2: Ever since I started out, you know, from my college days, so many thousands or pieces of content in the form of posts, in the com of in the form of podcast episodes, TV programs and preaching assignments and you know, preaching opportunities live and in person and all of the different things. And I want to tell you something I can be like, I don't want to just make my own decision. Every message should have the breath of God, the leading of God. That has been my heartbeat, because like this verse says, a soldier doesn't make up his own decisions.

5:39 Speaker 2: He concentrates on carrying out orders. I want to be someone who concentrates and say, is this what the Lord wants me to say today? Is just a word of the Lord for people today? Is this something I need to post this? Is this the word that God wants to give and blessed someone today? I'm making that personal commitment to be synced with God, to operate in accordance to the command that I receive, so that I will carry out the orders like how a soldier carries out the orders from his high command. Can that be your prayer today that you will operate like a proper soldier who depends on the Lord and says God, Holy Spirit, you lead me, you guide me, you instruct me, and you take me in the direction that you want me to go.
