Christmas Special | Home Alone Themed Sermon | Don’t Forget the Son | John Giftah
Tonight's Episode
In the middle of lights, gifts, travel plans, and festive chaos, it’s easy to celebrate Christmas… and still forget JESUS. In this special Christmas sermon, John Giftah draws a powerful parallel between Home Alone 2 and the biblical story of Mary and Joseph losing JESUS. Just like Kevin’s parents were busy and distracted, Mary and Joseph were caught up in the journey — and JESUS was left behind. But here’s the hope-filled truth:Both stories end the same way. Mary and Joseph found JESUS in the place of worship.
Kevin’s mother finds her son in prayer. This message reminds us that when life feels off-track, when faith feels distant, and when we realize we’ve been too busy for what truly matters — the way back is always the same:
return to worship, return to prayer, return to GOD. This Christmas, don’t just celebrate the season — come back to the presence of JESUS. 🎧 Listen to this heartfelt and creative Christmas sermon on Fuel for the Soul with John Giftah.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John GIFTA.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John gift podcast. I just want to
Speaker 2: first off start by wishing you and a family a
Speaker 2: very blessed and a merry Christmas and season's greetings to
Speaker 2: you as we transitioned from twenty twenty five to twenty
Speaker 2: twenty six. And I just want to just start off
Speaker 2: by sharing two quick updates with you as we dive
Speaker 2: into a very special episode today as we commemorate Christmas,
Speaker 2: as we remember the birth of our Lord and Savior,
Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. First things first, I'm so excited that I
Speaker 2: was featured in two places. One is on this list
Speaker 2: of by feed Spot. Our podcast has been featured on
Speaker 2: this feeds spot among the top Indian Christian podcasts. You know.
Speaker 2: I put the list in the link to the list
Speaker 2: in the description. I encourage you to check it up.
Speaker 2: And I'm so grateful to the feed spot for you know,
Speaker 2: featuring us at the top of this list. It is amazing.
Speaker 2: It's amazing. I know I've shared this so many times,
Speaker 2: and you guys know this, even in the past when
Speaker 2: we had many other charts and all of those things
Speaker 2: through Charterable and so many things, this podcast is consistently
Speaker 2: ranked at the top. And I'm being so grateful to God,
Speaker 2: and not only in India, but several times in other countries
Speaker 2: as well. It has ranked in several places several countries.
Speaker 2: And I'm so grateful to God for the way he
Speaker 2: has been using And I encourage you to continue to
Speaker 2: keep me and the podcast and the ministry in your
Speaker 2: prayers because even as we transition into twenty twenty six,
Speaker 2: I want to, you know, come back into that structured
Speaker 2: format with more sermons that will really really make an
Speaker 2: impact and a difference in your life. And the second
Speaker 2: thing I want to talk about is that I was
Speaker 2: also featured on a special feature on Christianity Today magazine.
Speaker 2: It's a magazine that was started off years ago by
Speaker 2: doctor Billy Graham, and I was featured on an article about,
Speaker 2: you know, the online persecution that happens to creators. You know,
Speaker 2: I'm going to be talking about that maybe in the
Speaker 2: days and months to come, I think, you know, even
Speaker 2: as we step into the new year, and I want
Speaker 2: to you know, change things a little bit on this podcast, uh,
Speaker 2: you know, so that we can we can you know,
Speaker 2: really come back to that rhythm to be a greater blessing.
Speaker 2: Uh in Jesus Mighty name as well. All Right, So
Speaker 2: I'm all excited about this special episode and I want
Speaker 2: to share something very very profound with you guys, even
Speaker 2: as we step into this Christmas uh.
Speaker 1: And you know.
Speaker 2: What, something that really struck me was one of my
Speaker 2: favorite Christmas movies. I'm sure it may be yours as well.
Speaker 2: Is Home in two Lost in New York. That's, you know,
Speaker 2: like something about this home whole series of Home alone
Speaker 2: Kevin getting Lost, and we love the you know, the
Speaker 2: Christmas wives that this movie sets in and and and
Speaker 2: there's always something to learn from anything and everything. That's
Speaker 2: why my heart beat as well, because I believe that,
Speaker 2: you know, and the the scripture says in Psalms twenty
Speaker 2: four vers one, the whole earth and everyone in it
Speaker 2: belonged to the Lord. So the Lord can use anything
Speaker 2: and everything to speak to us. And I'm so grateful
Speaker 2: that there was something really striking about this movie when recently,
Speaker 2: because I was just thinking about this movie and said,
Speaker 2: you know what, this is so cool. You know, we
Speaker 2: see all about New York and all of these things,
Speaker 2: but then we see it's any way fictional. It cannot
Speaker 2: happen in real life. I mean even if you have
Speaker 2: seven kids, because Kevin's parents had, I mean like this
Speaker 2: family where seven in number. The uncle's family had seven,
Speaker 2: so they were fourteen in total. So even if you
Speaker 2: have five kids or seven kids, there's no way you
Speaker 2: can forget your own child. I mean, like it's mission
Speaker 2: impossible in the natural. So we think, like, you know what,
Speaker 2: this is just fiction. We don't think anything beyond it.
Speaker 2: Till at a point when I realized that, you know what,
Speaker 2: this has happened in real life. This has happened in
Speaker 2: real life. I was really shocked, like seriously, like, and
Speaker 2: I was thinking about this because, yes, the thing I
Speaker 2: wanted to understand Lost in New York, right is about
Speaker 2: the kid alone here in New York and the family
Speaker 2: is not even aware of it, you know, including the parents.
Speaker 2: How could they be so irresponsible? How could they forget
Speaker 2: their own child? And then I realized that before and
Speaker 2: two Lost in New York, there was a part of
Speaker 2: home Alone lost in Jerusalem. I mean, I don't want
Speaker 2: to use the word lost because that can get into
Speaker 2: theological debate, but yes, the context I want to talk
Speaker 2: about where a father and mother you know, are in
Speaker 2: Jerusalem for a special feast and they're heading back with
Speaker 2: their family and friends, and they travel for about an
Speaker 2: entire day, not realizing that their only son was not
Speaker 2: with them. I think about it. Come on, you have
Speaker 2: to give grace for the home alone family. They had
Speaker 2: so many children, so missing one was like okay, when
Speaker 2: in comparison to a real life incident where the parents
Speaker 2: forgot or didn't even realize that their only son was
Speaker 2: not coming with them. Think about it. Here's the thing, right, Like,
Speaker 2: they go on an entire day's journey and then they
Speaker 2: start searching and searching, and they're like, where is this
Speaker 2: son of them? And they come back to Jerusalem and
Speaker 2: three days later, on the third day, they find their
Speaker 2: son talking to the religious leaders at the place of worship.
Speaker 2: I think by now your guests, the story where Mary
Speaker 2: and Joseph forgot their only son, the special kid, son
Speaker 2: of the Living God. They were entrusted with someone so
Speaker 2: important and pressureous, but they were not reponsibly enough. They
Speaker 2: forgot their own son. One son that they had also
Speaker 2: they forgot, and they went for an entire day not
Speaker 2: realizing he was not with them. Like this gives you
Speaker 2: a feeling like giving more grace to the home alone family, right,
Speaker 2: especially Kevin's mom and dad, Like, Okay, you know what,
Speaker 2: you guys, you had more children, so it's okay when
Speaker 2: someone had one child and they forgot, they were not aware,
Speaker 2: they didn't even realize he was missing. And yes, the thing, right,
Speaker 2: I wanted to hold on because there's an important lesson
Speaker 2: to understand here. Even as we step into this Christmas season, right,
Speaker 2: a lot of times we are so caught up with
Speaker 2: all the activities of the season, you know, the joys
Speaker 2: of caroling, the celebrations, the dinners and fellowships, the skits
Speaker 2: and the church programs, and you know, celebration with family,
Speaker 2: celebration with friends and communities, and you know secret santas
Speaker 2: and all of the different things that happen, whether even
Speaker 2: with regard to decorations or you know Christmas trees and
Speaker 2: cakes and gifts and all of that. I want to
Speaker 2: ask you this question. Have you forgotten the sun? Just
Speaker 2: like the home Alone family forgot their son Kevin, just
Speaker 2: like Mary and Joseph forgot their only son Jesus. My
Speaker 2: question is in all your celebrations, is the sun that
Speaker 2: is Jesus? Is east relevant and part of your celebrations.
Speaker 2: Is he truly a part of your Christmas celebration? Is
Speaker 2: he truly a part of your life? Or is it
Speaker 2: only ritual? Is it only culture? Is it totally tradition?
Speaker 2: Is it totally something that you love to do you
Speaker 2: get that feel oh you know when I get the
Speaker 2: Christmas wife? Oh you know, I want to ask you
Speaker 2: this question, Like it's not about the vibe, It's about
Speaker 2: the why. It's about the fact that you know what,
Speaker 2: we need to have a Jesus born in her hearts.
Speaker 2: We should not forget him. You know, that's the amazing thing,
Speaker 2: the or the you know, the astonishing thing as Chile.
Speaker 2: Because Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the festival of Passover. Okay,
Speaker 2: this is if if you're wondering still, where is this passage,
Speaker 2: it's in Luke too, Okay, from verses forty one one verst.
Speaker 2: They went to Jerusalem for the festival of pass Whover.
Speaker 2: They were It's not like they were not religious or
Speaker 2: something like they were in the Lord, like, you know,
Speaker 2: come on, these were good people. The Lord chose them
Speaker 2: for a reason. The Bible talks about Mary how she
Speaker 2: said when the Angel of the Lord came to her,
Speaker 2: she said, accord asked you had spoken, let it be done.
Speaker 2: Or even when Joseph multiple times, you know, he always
Speaker 2: made sure that he was led by divine instruction. He
Speaker 2: didn't just make decisions on his own. He was led.
Speaker 2: He was about to divorce Mary because of the uncertainty,
Speaker 2: and then when the angel spoke to him, he went back.
Speaker 2: He when when he was about to uh, you know,
Speaker 2: like you know, when when the Angel of the Lord
Speaker 2: appeared through dreams and told him to run because head
Speaker 2: was going to kill and all of that, he followed closely.
Speaker 2: He was he was, he was synced to the leading
Speaker 2: of the Holy Spirit. But the thing is this, despite
Speaker 2: all of that, the Bible says, they went to the
Speaker 2: place of worship. They went to Jerusalem, the City of God.
Speaker 2: And but the thing is this, inverse to forty two,
Speaker 2: it says, you know, just like it was custom. You
Speaker 2: know sometimes you know, because Christmas will end up becoming
Speaker 2: just a custom for us. But and here's the thing.
Speaker 2: After the festival was over, the parents were returning home,
Speaker 2: the boy Jesus stayed behind, but they were unaware of it.
Speaker 2: I want to ask you this question in your Christmas,
Speaker 2: in your celebration, is it like, are you really aware
Speaker 2: that Jesus is a part of whatever you're updoing or
Speaker 2: is it just a ritual? Is it just a custom?
Speaker 2: Think about it, because this is so important. They were
Speaker 2: thinking he was with their in their company, with their family,
Speaker 2: with their friends, and they continue to travel. See, sometimes
Speaker 2: we end up just going with assumptions. Oh you know
Speaker 2: what I got saved when I was a kid. You know,
Speaker 2: I encountered God last year. Oh, I have this great experience.
Speaker 2: I had this vision from the Lord. You know, sometimes
Speaker 2: we just go by assumption, not realizing that we have
Speaker 2: actually drawn away from the Lord. We're drawn away from
Speaker 2: his will and his plan over our life. They were
Speaker 2: not even aware. I really want to pray each one
Speaker 2: of you right now, in the name of Jesus, wherever
Speaker 2: we are watching, if you are going astray and you're
Speaker 2: not aware, I pray that today is going to be
Speaker 2: a wake up call for you. The Lord will speak
Speaker 2: to you and say, listen, you're gone away, You're gone astray.
Speaker 2: It's time for you to come back. You know. After
Speaker 2: they began searching and realized they couldn't find him, they
Speaker 2: went back to Jerusalem. I don't know who needs to
Speaker 2: hear this word. Some of you need to get back
Speaker 2: to Jerusalem, you know, just like in the Home Alone
Speaker 2: Family when they are coming to terms like where is Kevin?
Speaker 2: Where is Kevin? Kevin's not here, And finally they get
Speaker 2: the information that Kevin is in New York. They go
Speaker 2: the next plane from Florida rush to New York. And
Speaker 2: you see the mom doesn't just sit complacent. She's just like, oh,
Speaker 2: you know what, the police, they're doing the work. Let
Speaker 2: me just say, you know, if you see the movie
Speaker 2: kids go running searching searching, you know, and and it's
Speaker 2: it's it's astonishing because on the third day Kevin and
Speaker 2: his mom un reconciled, right like the Kevin is reconciled
Speaker 2: with his family on the third day. Same thing. It says,
Speaker 2: after three days they found him at the temple courts.
Speaker 2: They were searching for Jesus and many and josiphound him
Speaker 2: after three days. Another similarity. Three in this in the
Speaker 2: Bible is a resemblance of new beginning. And today I
Speaker 2: want to speak this prophetically over you, that you know
Speaker 2: that you will experience a new beginning a number three
Speaker 2: over your life. There may be a day one where
Speaker 2: you have gone astray, a day two when you were
Speaker 2: not even aware that you went astray. Will let there
Speaker 2: be a day three when you are coming back to
Speaker 2: the Lord, when you are returning to Jerusalem, when you
Speaker 2: are going searching every if you've seen in the movie,
Speaker 2: you know, even when she's told you know, like just
Speaker 2: stay back, it's it's it's risky, you know, it's such
Speaker 2: a big city. Kevin's mom just goes around searching, running
Speaker 2: everywhere where, thinking like where he would be, and all
Speaker 2: of that. Here's the message I want to share with
Speaker 2: you that you will be aware of this important truth.
Speaker 2: Where dose Where do Mary and Joseph find Jesus. Eventually
Speaker 2: they find him at the place of worship. Where did
Speaker 2: Kevin's mom find Kevin? At a place where Kevin was
Speaker 2: praying by the Christmas tree. Think about this, guys. If
Speaker 2: you have gone astray, this is a wake up call
Speaker 2: for you to come back to Jerusalem, come back to
Speaker 2: the place of worship, come back to the heart of worship,
Speaker 2: come back to the heart of the Father. Come back
Speaker 2: to that place where you are connected with God. Start
Speaker 2: praying like how Kevin was praying. I want to come
Speaker 2: I want you, guys to come back to the place
Speaker 2: of praying, you know, get back to that place. And
Speaker 2: I'm telling you, when you do that, that's what will
Speaker 2: make your Christmas special. That's what will make your Christmas meaningful. Today.
Speaker 2: I want to pray over you, guys that this message
Speaker 2: is not just going to be a fancy home alone
Speaker 2: theme sermon. This is a powerful revelation. I was quite like,
Speaker 2: oh my gosh, this is so cool. But it's cool,
Speaker 2: it's awesome, but it will not make any difference if
Speaker 2: you don't act on it. If you're not living by it,
Speaker 2: and I challenge you to do that. I challenge you
Speaker 2: to have a blessed Christmas season, even the next couple
Speaker 2: of days. Whenever you're checking this out, be blessed, be encouraged,
Speaker 2: and continue to keep this ministry in your prayers. I'm
Speaker 2: going to come back with a special list of things
Speaker 2: that the Lord is going to do through this podcast
Speaker 2: in twenty twenty six. But till then, may the Lord
Speaker 2: bless you and keep you, and make his face to
Speaker 2: shine upon you. Give you his peace. Amen, God bless you.
