0:47 Speaker 2: When we're looking at the passage in Matthew chapter one and Matthy chapter two in regard to the birth of Jesus, there's an important characteristic that we can learn from the life of Joseph that we can apply in our everyday life. When he saw the reversy with regard to Mary, when she said that she was conceived by the Holy Spirit, he was contemplating on letting her go. But in Matthew one, verse twenty, it says that the Angel of the Lord came to him and said, you know, don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, and he listens to that divine instruction and takes Mary as his wife.

1:20 Speaker 2: When you look at Matthew chapter two, there's a moment when the wise men came and met, and it was an amazing thing when they shared how the star guided them to Jesus and they worship Jesus. So Joseph could have been on like, wow, you know this, this is so good. You could have been caught up in that moment. But in verse thirteen, it says when they had gone, the Angel of the Lord appear to Joseph in a dream, saying, get up, take the child and this mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Hered is about to kill him.

1:52 Speaker 2: And verse fourteen says, so he got up, took the child and the mother in the night, and left to Egypt. When you look at verse nineteen, it says after Er died, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel. For those who are trying to take the child's life are dead. When you look at these verses, the common theme that we understand about Joseph was that he did not just go by how he felt at that moment. He did not just go by how everything looked on the outside.

2:22 Speaker 2: He went by the leading of God over his life. Even though he understood the consequence and the controversy with regard to Mary conceiving through the Holy Spirit what happened. He did not go into that or give in to that and say I don't want to stay in this. He allowed the voice of God to lead him, and he took the right step even when he just saw amazing moment when the wise men had come and you know, they were like, oh, my goodness, this is so good. Everybody's cheering for Jesus. In the midst of that high moment, he was still sensitive to hear the divine instruction saying it's time for you to run.

3:00 Speaker 2: And even when Herod died, he didn't say, oh, hero died and immediately left. Only after the Angel of the Lord appeared and said Herod, and not only Herod. If you see the worse, it says, all who were trying to kill the child are dead. In other words, maybe apart from Herod, that could have been other people in that palace who also wanted to kill Jesus. So in a sense, he didn't just go by the headlines, Oh Herod died, let me go back. He waited for God's instruction and then he went. So today my challenge is, I want you to be led by the Holy Spirit, be led by God, and be divinely instructed in every way you need to go.
