Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John Giftop podcast, where I want to challenge you to introspect the words that come out of your mouth. First things first, I want to start by sharing with you Proverbs thirteen, verse three, and this is what it says in the Nalty version, those who control their tongue will have a long life. Opening your mouth can ruin everything. First things first, I want you to understand the context is not saying just keep your mouth shut and not open your mouth at all.
Speaker 2: That's not the context. They are but you need to understand that. Sometimes you know, when you realize that opening your mouth can land you in greater trouble, or when you realize that you know you have that in disadvantage, or you have a negative how do I say this habit or something negative about you with your mouth? You need to be extra cautious, like you tend to overshare things, or you tend to be critical of people, or you tend to negative speak negatively even when you don't feel like it, lea, it just naturally comes to you to speak something negative, or you know, spoil things with your mouth or something like that.
Speaker 2: You know, I want you to be very, very careful because the Bible says those who control their tongue will have a long life. But sometimes you know, opening your mouth can ruin everything. No, Like when you think about the best example I can think of is how Joseph was in a position where he got these dreams from God. And what does he do Instead of keeping it to himself, he goes and shares it with his family. No, it's so important that you are keeping your mouth shut sometimes because if he had just kept his mouth shut, of course God used everything for his good.
Speaker 2: But here's the thing. If he had kept his mouth shut, he would have saved him from a lot of trouble. You get know what I'm saying. Because he opened his mouth and shared it with his brother so excited they were jealous of him. If he had kept his mouth shut, the dreams that God has placed in him or given him would have definitely come to pass. See when you think about even in the scripture talking about maybe, it says that she keept things to herself and pondered in her heart. See, there is a thing where you need to learn to keep things to yourself because you don't have to share everything to the whole world.
Speaker 2: See in my heart or in my life, like there are things I share in terms of the challenges I face because that helps people and encourages people. But if I'm going to be sharing things that make no difference in your life, there's no point in me sharing, And I am rather making a fool of myself in doing that. You get what I'm saying. See, there's also a moment where the apostle Paul in the Book of Facts was about to be let out as a free man, but he made a mistake. He said, I appeal to Caesar. And because he had done that, he was not let loose, because he opened his mouth and said, I appeal to Caesar.
Speaker 2: If he had just learned to keep his mouth shut at that point, he could have walked out as a free man. That's exactly what the once in authority said. This man could have walked out free if you had just not opened his mouth and said, I appeal to Caesar. Guys, today, my challenge is, don't let your words cause you to limit your life. Don't let your words put a strain in your life. Get to that place where you ask the Lord and the Holy spirits help receive it, and learn to guard your lips. Watch over your lips so that you make sure that your mouth does not ruin everything.
Speaker 2: Some people, it's just so easy for them. The minute they open their mouth. They want to just give a piece of their mind to somebody. They talk nonsense, They just trash people. Or some people are all the time negative where the Bible is life and that are on the part of the tongue, and they keep inviting negativity and death into their life and other people's life by their words. Don't let that be you today. Make you the commitment that you will guard your lips and control your tongue and make sure that your mouth does not lead you to ruins.
Speaker 2: Emmen, God bless you.
