Don’t Miss Your Peter Moment | Stop Living in Regret | John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Giftah. In this insightful episode from the ongoing Acts 12 sermon series, we explore the vital spiritual lesson of not remaining stuck mourning missed opportunities while ignoring GOD’s present calling.Drawing from the contrasting responses in Acts 12, where James was arrested and killed but the church gathered fervently in prayer for Peter’s release, John Giftah unpacks why dwelling on past regrets or “James moments” can blind us to the “Peter opportunities” before us. Instead of remaining trapped by guilt, “what ifs,” or delayed decisions, listeners are encouraged to cultivate spiritual alertness, faith, and discernment to recognize and act on GOD’s current invitations.
This message offers practical encouragement for overcoming emotional traps like regret and self-condemnation and highlights the importance of being present, moving forward, and embracing redemption after missed chances. Perfect for anyone feeling stuck in the past, confused about what to do next, or seeking renewal in their faith journey amid difficult seasons.
Tune in to be uplifted, encouraged, and empowered to seize the opportunities GOD has placed right in front of you today.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta Leak one.
Speaker 2: Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta podcast. If you've been checking out our episodes for this week, we've been doing various things that we can learn from the incident recording and then acts chapter twelve versus one to five. Here's the thing I want you to understand right. One of the things you need to know is that King Agrippa just killed the Apostle James, and now he's about to kill the Apostle Peter. He's put him in prison and he's expecting that the passover will be done, and he will be able to publicly, you know, get heir Peter, you know, killed, and you know he's going to get all these awesome responses from the people that will were pleased with him for killing the apostle James.
Speaker 2: But yes, the thing about it understanding verse five, it says that the church prayed earnestly for the apostle Peter. Now I wanted to understand. The Bible never says that the church prayed for the apostle James. Okay. We do not know why they didn't pray. Maybe this was brand new for them. They do not know what is happening, where to go, what to do. We're probably scared, or maybe they didn't know the power of prayer. Maybe they were not aware. See, we do not know why they did not pray for the apostle James.
Speaker 2: Okay, and James was killed. And now when Peter is in a similar board, the Bible says that now they somehow came to know, let's pray this time. Let's take a step and pray. Okay. Now that's the thing I wanted to understand. The Church did not sit in self pity or sit and debate or oh my gosh, maybe we should have thought about this idea before. We should have prayed for James when he was in the similar board. We should have done something about James. Now, oh my goodness. They did not sit in self pity of the opportunity they missed in the past.
Speaker 2: They did not sit in the place where they were like, you know what, they were not aware that they should have prayed or whatever happened. Maybe they were aware and they didn't do it, or maybe they were not aware and so they missed it. But the point here is that they did not sit in defeat. They did not sit in worry. They did not sit in debate. They did not sit and analyze the fact or why they forgot to pray for James. But what happened is right now they know that James is a closed door. I wanted to go and check the previous episode to understand how James was a closed door.
Speaker 2: Now they know that Peter is a contented door that they need to pray and you know, seek the Lord to do a supernatural miracle. Yes, the thing they did not dwell in the past. They did not dwell in what they missed. They did not dwell in what didn't work out. They do not dwell in what happened in the past, but right now they're like, you know what, this is what is in front of us, Peter, is the example in front of us. And let us start now. Let us pray earnestly. Now this is a word for some of you. Stop dwelling on what didn't work out.
Speaker 2: Stop dwelling on what you did not do because you were not aware that you were supposed to do maybe five years ago. Stop dwelling on maybe, oh shoot, I should have done this. I should have taken this step. I should have done this course, I should have checked this person out, I should have started out that business venture. I should have done this. Maybe you're feeling like, oh man, I wish I had done this. Maybe maybe the Lord told you and you didn't do it, or maybe you were not aware or equipped, or the opportunity was not just right for you to do it back then.
Speaker 2: So stop living in guilt of what you missed, and say, God, you know what, this is the place you have placed me. This is the opportunity in front of me. I missed, But let me not miss Peter, this is my moment to take this step of faith and believe God that you will interview. Can you come to that place where you stop dwelling on the missed opportunity of the past, stop dwelling on why some things did not work out, or stop dwelling on the thing that you thought you should have taken a step but you did not take a step, and say, God, this is the place you have placed me, This is the moment that you have for me, and help me to make the most of this opportunity.
Speaker 2: Help me to make the maximum out of this particular door that is coming for me, maybe the right person or maybe the right opportunity the venture. Can you come to that place where you say, Lord, help me now, I allow one of the scriptures, if it's mentioned in the Book of Isaiah, stop going over old history. In other words, you know you need to stop looking at like, oh I should have done this, I should have done that, Like stop going over that and get to that place where it also goes on to say be alert and be present, for God is doing something new.
Speaker 2: Be alert and be present. Sometimes we end up missing out the Peter opportunities in front of us because we are dwelling on the James opportunity that left us. Today, I pray that God will help you to be alert and be present, to look at the opportunities in front of you and take the step what God wants you to do. Maybe now is a moment to ask God for clarity. Now is your moment to ask God for enabling you to have spiritual discernment, to grow in wisdom, to help you hear His word his voice more clearly so that you can make the right choice that needs to be made.
Speaker 2: And then I really challenge you to share this with someone whom you know will be blessed by this and leave a comment. If you're checking this out on YouTube, catch up with Sure.
