Finding GOD's Will Sermon Series Part 3 - Your HEART and your DESIRES | John Giftah | Christian Sermon

the first aspect on how you need to have the desire for God's will,

and then in my previous episode I spoke about the commitment when you need to

have with regard to knowing God's will, when you should be in a place

where you say God, even if your will that you're going to show to

me is going to contradict what I want, It's going to be just the

opposite of what I'd really been wishing and hoping for I'm still committed to doing

your will because I want to tell you God that you know what your will

is bigger than what my desires, my ambitions, my aspirations, my passions,

and anything under the sun that I really wish would happen in my life.

And I encourage you to check those episodes out to get more clarity on

what I spoke in today's episode. I want to continue on the next aspect

with regard to knowing God's will, and it is in line with what I

told you yesterday where I told you how you have to be in a place

where you are ready to sacrifice your own desires, your own ambitions, your

own you know, whatever is that you really wanted in your life, to

a place where you say, God, even if none of them come to

pass, it's okay, because I'm near to do your will right now.

That's a very strong place to be because I wanted to understand that God is

not against your desires or God is not against your wishes and dreams, and

because he's not against you because he's the one who created you and he's the

one who gave them to you for a reason. So the true that you

will fulfill your purpose. I'll talk more about that in upcoming episodes where I'm

going to teach you on the connection between God's will and your desires, but

in today's episode, I want you to understand that before you go to that

level, the first and foremost thing you need to understand is I'm going to

share a couple of scriptures to help you understand why I want to take you

to that place. We all start from this place where they say, yes,

God will grant the desires of your heart. He will grant the desires

of your heart. But we have to come to a place where we need

to introspect and check our heart because your desires are seated in your heart,

or in other words, your heart is the breeding ground for your desires,

which means you need to do a check of your heart. You have to

remember something. There are saints of God. We are all as children of

God. We say, you know what I know. I'm washed by the

blood of the lamp. Yes, Jesus has made me old. But we

also have to remember that we still live in this fallen world, and because

of the fallen nature of man, there is an element that you need to

be cautious about. The First and foremost thing I want to share with you

is a scripture which many people fail to realize is Jeremiah seventeen, verse nine,

where it is saying that our heart is deceitful about all things. So

you have to understand that, you know, in a natural sense when you

look at it, our heart is deceitful, can deceive people. So you

have to be cautious because when you talk about desires, that's why it is

so important to understand and to channelize your desires and to you know, put

your desires upon the Lord to ensure which one is from God and which one

is not. So desires play a major role when it comes to you know,

walking in a purpose and you know understanding God's will and all of that.

But when you look at that, you have to understand that your desires

are coming from or they are seated in your heart. So when you look

at the scripture, you realize that how dangerous it is for you to blindly

follow your desires. I hope you're getting what I'm saying, because yes,

Jesus has given you the gift of salvation and eternal life. Okay, but

you have to understand that we still deal with the things of the world we

still deal with, you know, the aspect, because we have flesh that

we're constantly fighting over. Right, So you have to be cautious because the

Bible says that our heart is deceitful about all things. That's why you have

to be very cautious when it comes to all these motivational sayings that people would

have come across, those quotes and things we say, you know, follow

your dreams, allow your passions, and go after your desires and live the

dream life that you wanted and things like that. Right, you have to

be very cautious about it because people think it in a very superficial level.

Who you know, what Bible says, you know, God will grant the

desires of your heart. But you have to understand. For example, if

you see Collosians three five, put to death therefore what is earthly in you?

And it gives a list of things that you need to put to death,

like sexual immorality, impurity, and so on, and it uses the

word evil desire. What you have to understand is all desires are not good.

There is an element of evil desire, and that's why it is so

important that you have to be cautious because it is all coming down from the

breathing around your heart. And that's why it's so important that you check your

heart. That's why if you're seeing the scriptures, God is constantly saying,

you know what, I'm going to check and weigh your heart, and I

don't just look at what are the things on the outside. Now, let

me give you two scriptures to help you understand. For one of the famous

ones is for Samuel chapter sixteen, verse seven, when God is speaking to

Samuel and God is saying, for the Lord sees not as man sees.

Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

And if you also see in the book of Jeremiah chapter seventeen, verse ten

I, the Lord searched the heart and examined the mind to reward each person

according to their conduct, according to what their deeds discern. So what you

realize from this is that the God we serve is so cautious about the condition

of our heart. And you have to understand when you go to God and

you're saying, God, your word says that you will grand the desires of

my heart. So these element desires, why aren't you granting it. Before

you go to that level, you have to first introspect and check your heart

because your heart can be deceived. Full your heart can be one of the

biggest showstoppers for you. That's why it's very important that you check your heart

because God is searching your heart and examining the mind and he will reward you

accordingly. So it's very very important. So today I want you to make

this commitment to say, you know what, God, I surrender myself to

you, including my heart. Well, when that is the case, then

what do you do. Well, our heart is deceitful and because of the

fallen nature. It's a constant thing that we need to do, and it's

not a one time thing. We have to go to the place that King

David went in Psalm fifty one to a stand where he said, create in

me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. You know,

it's not a one time thing. Right, when you look at the shore

of a beach, it's not that a wave comes once and leaves, right,

It's it's a constant thing. The wave comes and goes with the wave

comes and goes. So you have to understand that it's not a one time

thing. This process of you know, God creating a new heart is not

a Okay, I did this, you know, thirty seven years ago.

I did this when I was three years old or something like that. It's

not like that. It's something that you need to allow the Holy Spirit to

constantly work in you. That you constantly surrender your heart, your desires,

every aspect of your life into his hands and say, Holy Spirit, take

control, creating me a new heart. And what you do is you constantly,

you know, b dedicate your life. You constantly re surrender and you

constantly allow the Holy Spirit to take control of your life. And you know

you constantly do that. I'm thinking, honestly, I do this very very

frequently. You know, in fact, you've got to do it on a

even if you can, on a daily basis, where you say, God,

you know what, this is not my life. This is your life

given to me. So your Holy Spirit, you take control of my desires,

my ambitions, my heart. They control and you keep allowing the Holy

Spirit to take control of your heart. That's the key for you to allow

him to create the new heart so that your heart will be in the right

place. And when your heart is in the right place. That's the next

step we have to talk about in terms of how your desires have to be

channelized and how your desires are connected with God's plan and purpose for you.
