Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta podcast. A couple of weeks ago, if you just go back and scrawl down, or if you're checking this out on YouTube, I did a series of lessons that we can take away from the first verses of accept A twelve. I really recommend you to go back because there's so much to unpack and learn, and today I want to talk about a couple of revelations that we can take away from verse six onwards in this chapter. Because there's so much to unpack, so much to learn, and I really pray that you'll stay plugged in and receive everything that the Lord wants to speak to you through this incident as well.
Speaker 2: See, one of the things I wanted to understand, to just give you a brief idea, is that this king has God so mad. What he did was he just killed the apostle James, and now he has imprisoned the apostle Peter, intending to do the same to apostle Peter what he did to Apostle James. But the scripture says in verse five, while Peter was in prison, the church prayed for Peter earnestly. So I really recommend you that if your life is not the way it's supposed to be, the place to start is to be in a place where you pray, where you seek the Lord, when you're looking up to him, drawing strength from him and saying, God, I need your help.
Speaker 2: I need you to help me. And what I want you to understand is there's so much to unpack. But first of the thing, one of the things I want to talk about in today's segment is when you look at verse six, it says the night before Peter was to be placed on trial. He was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the door gate. Now listen to this cafe. An angel comes to him and look at verse number seven. It says the angel struck him on the side to wake him up and says, quick, get up.
Speaker 2: See, I want you to understand something here. Peter is in the same position as the apostle James, where he is about to be sentenced, put on trial, and he's going to be killed. He's on the verge of being in the same position as the apostle James, which means his life is at stake. Now you may be watching saying John, that's really sad to place to be, or maybe in your life you may be in a very similar position where you're saying, John, I feel like my life is at stick. I feel like everything has gone away out of my control.
Speaker 2: Things are not working out. Maybe it's with regard to your career, your job situation. It looks very bad. You don't know when you're going to lose your job or when things are going to be really bad. Maybe things are just not working out. With regard to your business, you're not getting the right clients, you're not getting the finances on time, you're not sure how you're going to pay your next bill. Or maybe with regard to a relationship, you're feeling like one next thing that flies up might stop or sabotage your relationship completely and you need to start from the scratch all over again.
Speaker 2: Or maybe with regard to a kid, maybe with regard to your calling, your ministry, or whatever it is you're saying, John, no matter what, it feels like it's in a dead end. It feels like it's in the same place that somebody else is in. Like maybe somebody else died of the sickness, and now my reports feel like I'm also going to die in this sickness. Or when I look at what has happened to somebody else, it feels like they got laid I'm also going to get laid off. Say I wanted to understand. That's why I want you to go back to that scripture, the series that I did, and to be filled with God's word and strength and comfort from that series.
Speaker 2: But one of the things I wanted to understand is Peter is on a similar position. He's in a place where his life is at stake. But what really caught my attention was he was fast asleep. How can you sleep in the midst of certain death? How can you sleep in the midst of everything going away or going against what you would intend for your.
Speaker 1: Life to be.
Speaker 2: Think about Peter. How could he be at a place of peace to a point where he can sleep in the midst of knowing that he may not be even alive the next day. What kind of a level of trust he was operating him? What kind of a level of peace and comfort he was able to draw from the presence of the Lord?
Speaker 1: Like?
Speaker 2: Think about this? See, I hear so many times people say, Oh, I'm not able to sleep at all. I'm always worried, I'm always anxious. You see, I'm not denying the problem. I'm not saying that you know the weight of your problem is not there, or you know you don't have the right to worry or anything. I'm not saying that, yes, the problem is real, the concern is genuine. But the truth of the matter is That's why the Bible says in Philippines four verse six that you do not worry about anything, but pray about everything.
Speaker 2: How was Peter in a position where he knew that his life was at stake, when nothing was in his control, when everything had gone against him. How could he be at a place of rest, be at a place where he's fast asleep when he knows that his next day was not guaranteed. I want to tell you, guys, this is the place where we allow the scripture to not just be stories that we just look at and be inspired, but we say, God, if Peter could sleep in the midst of an uncertain night when he knew nothing about what was going to happen the net today, help me to be at a place of peace.
Speaker 2: I can be at a place of peace. I can be the place of rest. I can trust the Lord, saying God, I don't know how I'm going to pay my bills tomorrow. I do not know how I'm going to be the right person. I do not know how I'm going to make sure that I get the job or the client, or the contract or the thing coming my way. Can I tell you something that's the place of peace and trust. I really challenge you to be if you are in a place of worry and anxiety, if you're not able to sleep at nights, I really pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that you will be able to pray, get to that place where you are in that absolute place of trust, knowing that God is in control of your life.
Speaker 2: It may not make sense in the natural. It may not look like, Hey, you don't understand the seriousness of the problem. No, you are fully aware of the seriousness of the problem. But you're saying, you know what. Yes, the problem may be big, but my God is bigger. Yes, I feel that there's no way out for me in the natural, but I know I serve a supernatural God. Yes, it feels like I'm just just in this place of helplessness, but you know what, I look up to the hills from whence my health comes from. My health comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
Speaker 2: So I challenge you today, if you're in a place where you're not getting sleep, you're worried, you're anxious, I want to pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that you will have the strength to stop worrying and start praying to to get to that place of absolute trust. In the name of Jesus, that you will be able to be like the appostle Paul sleep in the midst of your trouble. You'll be able to rest in the place of restlessness. You'll be able to find that comfort in the midst of chaos, knowing you're not the one figuring out your life, but God is, and He will perfect everything which concerns you and will help you fulfill the purpose that He has since so for you.
Speaker 2: I really challenge you to leave a comment if you're checking this out on YouTube or Facebook, and share this with someone who needs to hear this word you back next time. God bless you.
