0:53 the things I've seen in a lot of people is when they had about to

0:56 take up opportunities, when they had about to make a move, when they

0:59 had about to take up step maybe in any area of their life, they

1:02 always go by a past experience. You see, there is a place for

1:06 self confidence. There is a place where you say, yes, you know

1:08 what I can do all things through Christ to excuse me, strength, where

1:11 you say you know what, I'm not dumb, I'm not stupid, I'm

1:15 not a mistake. I am made in the image of God, a masterpiece

1:19 of God. You have a place for identity in Christ that you find and

1:23 the place for self confidence because there's so much of identity crisis that's prevalent all

1:27 over the world. But there is also a place where you need to understand

1:32 this important truth that you don't put your confidence, you don't put your reliance,

1:36 you don't put your trust just based on the fact that you were successful

1:38 in the past. You should not put your trust, reliance, and confidence

1:42 upon your past experiences, past successes, past things that worked out well in

1:47 your life. But you need to put your ultimate hope and trust and reliance

1:51 upon the Lord. I want to share a scripture with you and I want

1:56 to take this forward and it is found in Genesis forty one was sixteen to

2:00 give you a little backdrop about what is happening. You know the story of

2:04 Joseph, who started out as a guy whom who was who had the gift

2:07 of interpretation of dreams. He had a dream when he was a little boy.

2:12 But as he started interpreting, people were jealous. His own family members

2:15 could not take it and they could not accept the anointing and favor upon Joseph's

2:21 life. And then what happens Joseph gets into a lot of trouble. He

2:25 ends up in the fit, he ends up as a slave in Party four's

2:31 house. He's wrongly accused, he's put in the prison. He's wrongly accused.

2:37 And here he is in the prison for no fault of his And in

2:42 the prison he interprets the dream of the cup bearer and it becomes a success.

2:50 You know, what he does succeeds. What he interprets is what comes

2:53 to pass. And eventually there's a moment when the fan who has some dis

3:00 been dreams and he wants somebody to come and interpret the dream, and there's

3:04 no one to do it. All the wise men in the kingdom could not

3:07 do it. And that that moment, the Lord reminded the cup bara and

3:09 the bearer. The butler remembered that there was this guy called Joseph, and

3:17 he says, you know, you can call him. The annoyting of God

3:21 is upon him. He can interpret your dream. And eventually Joseph is brought

3:27 to the Pharaoh. And I can imagine where at the moment when you look

3:32 at was fifteen, for example, let's start with was fifteen, right,

3:38 there's a moment when Pharaoh says to Joseph, I had a dream and no

3:42 one can interpret it. But I heard it said of you that when you

3:47 hear a dream, you can interpret it. This is what the pharaoh is

3:51 saying. Now. If you are talking to the pharaoh, Pharaoh was the

3:53 most powerful man in the world of that time. He was like the president

4:00 the United States today. Okay, Egypt was the most powerful nation at that

4:04 point of time. So Pharaoh was the most powerful man. And if you're

4:08 going to talk to the most powerful man, you would say, yes,

4:12 you're right now, even though they're wrong, because you want to give God

4:15 the glory the credit. You would be like, you know, I understand

4:19 with how can I tell the Pharaoh that you know that he's wrong? You

4:23 know what I mean? It's not that I can interpret what what will the

4:27 Pharaoh think? But look at was sixteen. Joseph says, I cannot do

4:31 it. Joseph replied to Pharaoh, but God will give Pharaoh the answer he

4:36 desires. And I'm reading from the NIV version. Okay, he says,

4:40 I cannot do it, but God will do this. What you understand from

4:45 this is that Joseph did not rely on his past success. He did not

4:48 rely or put his hope, trust and confidence on the things that worked out

4:53 in the past. He said, yes, in the past, God did

4:57 it, but it's not me, it's God. Even now it's not me,

5:01 it's God. And he's actually saying this, and he's saying, you

5:04 know what, I cannot do this, but only God. So he gets

5:08 to that place where he's redirecting and showing us this important truth that you and

5:12 I need to put into our everyday life. That you know what you no

5:15 matter how many times you've seen success in the past, it's not because of

5:18 you. But every single time you need you can come to the place where

5:21 you say, God, I can do nothing without you. Apart from you,

5:26 I can do nothing, But with you I can do all things.

5:29 Who gives me strength. Today, I want you to come to the place

5:32 of humility, the place where you'd say, God, I rely on you.

5:38 Even though you've done this a million times, can you still trust him?

5:43 Sometimes? You know, as a preacher, I'll tell you honestly,

5:46 sometimes you know that that sense of like, oh, I've done this so

5:48 many times, you know, kind of kicks and even when some opportunity comes,

5:51 I'm like, oh, you know, I have preached so many times.

5:54 You know all of that, But I always go back to the place

5:57 where I'm God, God, God. I don't want to just take the

6:00 slightly. I don't want this opportunity to be you know where. I'm just

6:03 going to showcase my past experiences, my knowledge that I incurred in the past

6:11 so many years of doing ministry. God, I want to depend on you

6:15 as if this is the first time I'm preaching. That's the way I look

6:19 up to the Lord, That's the way I go to the feet of the

6:23 Lord. And I'm telling you, guys, you know me right. With

6:27 the podcast in itself, we are hitting across nine to fifty episodes on this

6:30 daily podcast, and then there's the YouTube channel I've been ministering the last couple

6:36 of days. Ago, we celebrated eleven years in the ministry. Eleven years.

6:41 But here's the thing I want you guys understand that every time I go

6:45 back to that place, I say, God, even though you have helped

6:49 me in the past, I'm not putting my trust, confidence and reliance on

6:53 the fact that I was successful in the past. I put my trust,

6:57 reliance and confidence upon you because it is you who will help me succeed today.

7:04 It is you who will let me succeed tomorrow. It is you who

7:08 will let me succeed in the next opportunity. Today, I pray in the

7:12 name of Jesus that you'll come to the place where you realize that it's not

7:15 about you. It's not about your past experiences, but you can come to

7:18 the police of humility. In saying God to day, I need you afresh.

7:25 I depend on you, and I need you to help me through.
