0:44 Speaker 2: Hello everyone, welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta podcast. All through this week, we're going to look at various lessons we can take away from the life of Abraham, predominantly around the topic of the call of God over our life. See, first thing I want you to understand is in Genesis 12 verse 1, the Lord said to Abraham, leave your native country, your relatives and your father's family and go to the land that I will show you. See, the first thing I want you to understand with regard to the call of God is you never know when God is going to call you.

1:16 Speaker 2: You may be looking at your life. You're saying, John, I'm just comfortable. Everything is fine. I have a great job. I have a great family that cherishes me. I'm able to just go through life. I'm able to go to church. I'm able to read the word of God or listen to podcasts or watch good sermons like these. And you're saying, like, I'm just content. You know, my spiritual walk is fine. My life is going great and I don't have to worry. But can I tell you something? That's great. That's how Abraham's life was.

1:44 Speaker 2: He was in his native country. He was with his relatives, his father's family, and he had great possessions. He had a wife. Everything was great. He had no reason to leave. See, I want you to understand something very important here. I want you to pray that God will help you to be sensitive to how the Lord is going to interrupt your life. Because Abraham was not waiting on God for an interruption. See, God will never give you a signal that he's going to interrupt your life. He's going to suddenly interrupt.

2:16 Speaker 2: Abraham was having everything going fine in his life and suddenly, boom, what happened? God calls him. God just shakes and changes everything. From a time he had discomfort, he had this family, he had everything familiar with him. And God is suddenly saying, I want you to leave all of this and go to the place that I will show you. And he is not yet showing him where he's going to take him. My question to you, first of all, is, are you in a place where you're sensitive to hear God if he wants to interrupt you?

2:54 Speaker 2: Or are you in a place where you're so comfortable with your commitments, your job, your family, your business, your goals, your personal aspirations, or just life as a whole that you're saying, you know what? I'm fine, God. You just bless me where I am. No, sometimes you should be in a place where you're saying, God, Am I where you want me to be? Or are you going to interrupt me? Are you going to lead me somewhere else? You see, sometimes it's not about just leaving everything. I'm not saying quit your job, you know, abandon your family.

3:28 Speaker 2: That's not what I'm saying. But I'm saying being in that place where you're open. If the Lord is asking you to do something, it could be something small. Like God called Abraham. and said, I want you to leave your family and go to this place. There was a time when the Lord interrupted me. I had an eight-hour supernatural encounter. The Lord said, I want you to start an international ministry. That was huge. It was scary. God, I don't have the connections. I don't have what it takes. I don't have the training, the expertise.

3:57 Speaker 2: But you know what? Here we are with this September. I'm going to finish 14 years in the ministry. that I started from my university days. See, here's the thing. When you trust in the Lord, you can be in that place. If the Lord is leading you to do something, it could be something small. It could be just taking a step of faith, starting that initiative, talking to that person, maybe that business venture, starting that YouTube channel or writing a book. It could be anything. But my question is, if the Lord wants to interrupt your life, are you sensitive to hear his voice?

4:32 Speaker 2: Are you sensitive to obey what the Lord is asking you to do? Because it's not going to be easy. When you think about even the way God interrupted Mary and Joseph, they had already been engaged. Everything was normal. Everything was routine. Just like any other family, probably they just grew up with that honor of the Lord, the learning of the reading of the word and, you know, being in that honorable home that they were part of. And from that upbringing in the fear of the Lord, they got married and they were just hoping for a great future.

5:11 Speaker 2: And what happens? Suddenly there's an interruption. The angel Gabriel visits Mary with a news saying, you're going to bear a child and you're going to bear the son of the living God without knowing Joseph. And it's going to be through the power of the Holy Spirit. That was a sudden interruption. No one expected it and not everyone is going to understand. My question is, when you say yes to do whatever God is asking you to do, it's not going to be easy. It's going to come with a price. People are going to misunderstand.

5:43 Speaker 2: Now, we in the faith may believe, yes, Jesus is a virgin born through Mary. But many people would have considered it as a contradiction. They would have always misunderstood Mary. They would have never trusted her. They would have said, Jesus would not have been born through a virgin. It's mission impossible. So people could have misunderstood Mary. People could have misunderstood Mary and Joseph. Both of them had to go through so much of misunderstanding. Even Jesus, Abraham, when we look at it, we think, oh, God called him and he left.

6:16 Speaker 2: But can you imagine what he would have felt? His family would have tried to convince him. Hey, you have everybody here. Why are you leaving? They could have emotionally blackmailed him. Oh, we raised you up. We were with you. And now you're leaving us to this unknown God of yours who's calling you? Remember, Abraham was not even... in the faith he was in fact from terra and the family who were actually moon worshipers we talk about we heard about it or read about it in the book of joshua so they it was so new when god interrupted abraham it wouldn't have been easy people are told you're crazy you lost your mind you better think about this because you may not get to see us again You're being a fool to leave everything to go to this unknown territory.

7:06 Speaker 2: But can I tell you something? If God is... going to interrupt you are you going to be willing to listen and to obey because that is what will make the difference so today I pray in the name of Jesus like the way God gave me that grace in the midst of the opposition in the midst of the uncertainty in the midst of all the people attacking I stood my ground and said if God is calling me I would do it and here we are 14 years into the ministry like Abraham in the midst of the contradiction in the midst of not knowing where he was heading he went by faith when God interrupted him or with the case of Mary and Joseph in the midst of all the contradictions and the misunderstandings they said not my will but let let it be done as you have spoken oh Lord that's what Mary said and when you have that heart I want to tell you that's the first step into being willing and taking the step towards the calling that God has in store for you.
