0:43 Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John GIFTA. Hello everyone, It's wonderful for me to be back on this edition off the Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta podcast episode. Even as we are in the last pinnacle of twenty twenty three, in the last couple of days, as we step into twenty twenty four, you know, I wanted to talk about something I believe is so important to prepare ourselves for the upcoming year, to train ourselves or to have the right you know, lifestyle that we need to have as Christians, as believers.

1:21 I know there are so many things that we can talk about but I'm going to talk from a passage, you know, little by little in the next couple of days. And it may be just as simple as remind us for us, But I believe that you know when when you just say God, you know what, this is a reminder for me to welcome this area of my life for that area of my life. So I just pray that it will really help you to make this decision as you prepare for the new year as well. So I'm going to start off with this very familiar passage by the way, So it's just found in first of Salonians, chapter five, verse sixteen.

1:55 Rejoice always, and the NLT version says, always be joyful, rejoice always, rejoice at all times, always be rejoicing. You know, these are things that are constantly coming. And so I want to start off by this thing where I want to see what the definition of rejoice mean, or you know the synonyms of rejoice. It is basically like having a sense of celebration, delight, enjoyment, glory, joy, triumph, and rejoice is basically to feel or show great happiness about something. You know. A lot of times, you know, we let our happiness, our joyfulness be determined by our circumstance, you know, John, you know what, if things go my way, then I'm going to be happy.

2:41 But I don't think I should be happy because things have not been going my way. Things are just going against me. I've been bombarded on every direction, so many deadlines, so many issues dealing with, and I just don't have a reason why I need to be joyful or rejoice, or even the scripture or even sometimes it could be like John, you know, like I don't feel like being happy. You know, I don't feel like it. I feel so sad, I feel so down. And you know, this can be a wake up call for each one of us, you know, I mean including myself.

3:14 You know that. You know, let this be a new mode to be operating from in twenty twenty four, where we're not going to be led by what we feel, We're not going to be led by our emotions. We're not going to be led by our circumstances. But we're going to choose to rejoice irrespective of our circumstances. You know, even when you think about this, Apostle Paul, when he said rejoice in the Lord always and again, I say rejoice, he didn't say this when he was having the best time of his life. He said this when he was in the prison.

3:47 You said this when he was in Chaine. He said this when he was in a very uncomfortable season. You know, you can be in an uncomfortable season. You can be in change that you're still dealing with. You can be in struggles of your life. You can be in a place where you're saying, I'm entering twenty twenty four or in the spinnacle of twenty twenty three, even though I'm not seeing the answers to my prayers, but I still choose to rejoice. I still choose to be glad. I still choose to be cheerful. I still choose to be joyful.

4:18 No matter what, can you make that your anthem today that you will rejoice in the Lord always, not when you feel like it, not when things go your way, but always. Amen. God bless you.
