Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, it's wonderful to join you on this edition
Speaker 2: of the Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta podcast.
Speaker 2: But I want to talk to you today about an
Speaker 2: important aspect I feel that many peoples to forget or overlook,
Speaker 2: or we just think that, you know what, let me
Speaker 2: just hide it under the carpet. I want you to
Speaker 2: just understand and introspect because we're living in a time
Speaker 2: and age where it's all about you know what, I
Speaker 2: want this, and I want it now. It's all about
Speaker 2: instant gratification. We want results instantaneously. We want to see success,
Speaker 2: we want to grow, we want to go into new levels,
Speaker 2: or we want to see you know what, I need
Speaker 2: this and I need to achieve this. I need to
Speaker 2: get into this relationship or some relationship, or I need
Speaker 2: to get some job. So they're so desperate and they're
Speaker 2: in that state of desperation that they just go into
Speaker 2: anything and everything to just get things done. Or it
Speaker 2: could even be maybe you're saying, you know what, I'm
Speaker 2: dealing with the sin, or there is some addiction that
Speaker 2: you're dealing with, or you know, you know this is
Speaker 2: not a good habit, but you know, you just don't
Speaker 2: have the self control to say no when you're supposed
Speaker 2: to say no, or to say yes when you're supposed
Speaker 2: to say yes. You may say, you know what, it's
Speaker 2: just a small thing. But I want to talk to
Speaker 2: you today from Proverbs chapter five, and I want to
Speaker 2: share a couple of things to just remind you of
Speaker 2: where it says an evil man is held captive by
Speaker 2: his own sins. They are robes that catch and hold him.
Speaker 2: He will die for lack of self control. He will
Speaker 2: be lost because of his great foolishness. Understand the seriousness
Speaker 2: of lack of self control. Here it says that you
Speaker 2: know what your own sins, if you're if you're allowing
Speaker 2: you know, the see everybody and everybody has issues that
Speaker 2: we are really I think I've spoken to about this
Speaker 2: here and they're in different sermon's clips. But yes, the
Speaker 2: thing I wanted to say that we all have areas
Speaker 2: that we need to ask God to help us to
Speaker 2: deal with because we are still in the flesh and
Speaker 2: we still live in the body, and so we still
Speaker 2: have the element where we need to have the constant
Speaker 2: battle between you know, flesh and the spirit. But but
Speaker 2: but that there's always that the element of sin that
Speaker 2: comes to you know, hold us. And yes, the thing
Speaker 2: the point is not that you know you should never follow,
Speaker 2: you should never committing a sayin It's not that it's
Speaker 2: about having that lifestyle of sin, which is a sin,
Speaker 2: which is wrong, which is not the way you're supposed
Speaker 2: to be. And here he says, you know, if you're
Speaker 2: constantly having that lifestyle when you intentionally take the step,
Speaker 2: you're saying, you know what, nothing is going to happen,
Speaker 2: or you know what, I'll deal with it later, or
Speaker 2: you have that attitude like you know what, anyway, I
Speaker 2: have the forgiveness from the Lord, so I can do
Speaker 2: what I want to do. It's my life, or you're
Speaker 2: just having that sense of arrogance I wanted to sin.
Speaker 2: The Bible is very clear that, you know what, an
Speaker 2: evil man is held captive by his own sins. And
Speaker 2: it's kind of like how a rope catches and holds on.
Speaker 2: And you may be dealing with some area of sin
Speaker 2: in your life. It could be of a little sin,
Speaker 2: or it could just be a wrong you know, thought process.
Speaker 2: It could be a wrong attitude. It could be a
Speaker 2: sense where you are, you know, holding onto a grudge
Speaker 2: against somebody, bit in or it could be hurt. It
Speaker 2: could be disappointment. It could be you know, maybe something
Speaker 2: that God is asking you to let go of a
Speaker 2: wrong habit in your life. But whatever it is, today,
Speaker 2: my challenge is that you will ask the Lord to
Speaker 2: give you the grace and the strength to exercise self
Speaker 2: control today. That's the word I want to give you.
Speaker 2: Learn to depend on the Lord and say, God, help
Speaker 2: me give me self control, because the Bible says that,
Speaker 2: you know what, this lack of self control can lead
Speaker 2: the person to be lost, It can destroy the person.
Speaker 2: The best example is Samson over and over again. He
Speaker 2: had the opportunity to make a course correction. But what
Speaker 2: did he do? He never exercised self control, and what
Speaker 2: happened next His story ends up being pretty bad. In
Speaker 2: the end, right is made fun of off and you know,
Speaker 2: he has a very bad ending because he did not
Speaker 2: have the you know, the will or the power to
Speaker 2: exercise self control. Today, I wanted to understand that. You know,
Speaker 2: of course Samson was in the in the you know,
Speaker 2: the Old Testament, though he had the part of the
Speaker 2: Holy Spirit upon him. You and I have an even
Speaker 2: better advantage because you and I have the Holy Spirit
Speaker 2: of God in us. And the Bible says in relations
Speaker 2: that one of the elements we see in the Fruit
Speaker 2: of the Spirit includes self control, which means that because
Speaker 2: of the Holy Spirit in us, one of the elements
Speaker 2: of the Fruit of the Spirit includes self control. One
Speaker 2: of the characteristics is self control. And today I want
Speaker 2: you to depend on the Holy Spirit. Say, Holy Spirit,
Speaker 2: help me to exercise self control. Help me to depend
Speaker 2: on your Holy Spirit, help me to you know, heal
Speaker 2: to you more Holy Spirit. So the more you will
Speaker 2: love the Holy Spirit tool rein away your life and
Speaker 2: to take control of your life, your thoughts, your actions,
Speaker 2: your heart, your mind, your everything. I want you, Dennison,
Speaker 2: that's of self controul will also manifest in it through
Speaker 2: your life. And I believe that when you operate from
Speaker 2: the element of self control, you will see your life
Speaker 2: get to an all new level. Jesus name, I pray Amen,
Speaker 2: God bless you.
