The Strategy for your Generation | John Giftah | Christian Sermon

the things that I've seen predominantly is when you look at one generation, they

try to look at what the previous generations I've done, and they just follow

the same thing. Now, even if you see, for example, in

the area of evangelism, they look at okay. For example, in today's

context, right people look at okay, this is how Billy Graham evangelized,

this is how he was effective. Look at the way benni Hin was ministering,

or he's still ministering, or look at somebody else who have who have

gone in the past, or who have already set a path, like,

for example, certain ministers who are making a great impact for the Kingdom of

God today, and then they say, you know what, that's the same

strategy I need to follow so that I can win souls for Christ. This

is the way that a lot of people are following. But I want to

tell you something, guys, that the strategies that worked in the past,

if you try to just focus on them and say, you know what,

that's going to work for me today, it's not going to work for you.

You need to get to that place where you understand even with regard to

people, you know, he's one of the biggest miscommunications. Or there's this

generation gap, especially if you look, for example, in India, you

know, between the previous generation and the current upcoming modern generation that has grown

with social media and me entertainment and all of these things. You know,

there's such a widespread divide between the previous generation and this generation. Now,

for example, if you look at my own life, you know, if

I have to say this, you know, in my own parents right by

it was it was it was only you know, in their late twenties when

they first ever came across a television that was the generation they never knew about

television, so they grew from that level if you look at India. But

that's not the case in US. Right, in US, people have had

television even before that. But this is the case in my upbringing. Right,

So there's a big divide between that generation and this current generation. Like

you know, where when you look at me or when you look at you

know, the ones who are even younger to me, they grew up with

media, they grew up with the Internet. They grew up and even when

I look back, Okay, my brother who's seven years younger to me,

he's even more advanced than me because he had the phones and technology even more

than I did, you know what I mean? So what worked in the

previous generation, Like if you just say, okay, I'm trying evangelism.

If I say, okay, this is what Billy Graham did, and if

I tried that today, it's not going to work. It worked for Billy

Graham, but it's not going to work for me. If it worked for

the generation that Benny him was assigned to, it's not going to work for

the next generation. You need to understand that the biggest problem today is a

lot of people are just blindly following what worked for somebody else now even for

me today. Sometimes you know this kind of a pressure that sets in,

we say, you know what, this is what worked for our generation.

You need to follow what we did. And a lot of young people today

are trying what their parents did. They're trying what their leaders who are currently

you know, in that previous generation are done or are doing, and then

seeing how successful they are, and then they're wondering why they're not able to

be successful because you need to understand what worked for them is not going to

work for you today. This is the generation that you're in. God has

created you to be in this generation, to make an impact in this generation,

which means you need to follow the strategy for this generation. You know,

the Bible says in the Book of Facts that David fulfilled this purpose for

his generation, not for the next generation, not for the previous generation.

You need to understand that God has a plan and the purpose for you for

this generation. Of course, when you make a great impact, even after

you leave, even the generations that are before you and behind you are still

going to be impacted by the work that you do. For the Kingdom of

God, that's that's totally there. But somebody cannot follow your strategy over their

life and then try to get the same success for you. You get what

I'm saying, because what works in the previous generation is not going to work

in the next generation. And that's the place you need to get to where

you ask God, God, what is the strategy for this generation? What

is this methodology or idea that you're giving me for my life, so that

I follow what is going to work for me to make an impact. Because

if I follow what somebody else has done, or if I follow what somebody

else who's in a successful position is doing, I'm going to be in a

club desperado. I'm not going to make an impact. And that's why you

and I need to get to that place where we say, God, what

is this strategy that you have for me. One of the examples I want

to share with you guys, especially is you know when you think about in

the scripture, there are two times when the children of Israel, while moving

towards the Promised Land from the land of Egypt, they encountered water bodies.

One was the Red Sea and the other was jordan Red Sea. They encountered

with the previous generation that was Moses, and what happened. God has given

this instruction lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and

divided that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.

That's mentioned in Exodus fifteen sixteen. Sorry, Exodus fourteen sixteen. So what

you realize is you're the strategy that God had given to Moses generation. What's

you know, Moses, just stretch your hand and and the water is going

to part, and the water parts, and then they just move on dry

ground. But if you see the next case in for Joshua, if you

look at Joshua three fifteen to seventeen, what happens is it's not going to

work out the same way. Joshua didn't just raise his hand and then part

of the you know, the Jordan River the like the way Moses did.

In this case, what happened is as soon as those bearing the ark were

dipped into the brink of the water, you know, the water is coming

down from above, stood and rose up in a heap very far away at

Adam, the city that is beside zerah Tham, and those flowing down towards

the sea of the you know, the salt sea were completely cut off and

the people passed over opposite Jericho. So you see, the strategy followed for

Moses was they stood out and Moses raises his hand and people walked on dry

ground. But in case of Joshua, the next generation, when they encountered

the similar situation, what happened this time? It was not the same case.

What did they do? The ones carrying the heark of God, you

know, the presence of God, you know God, the ark of Covenant.

You know, once they were in the middle, that is when the

water started receding and then they started walking on dry ground. So what you

understand is same problem, but different generations they dealt with it in a different

way. If they tried the same thing that worked for Moses, it was

not going to work this time. You have to understand this. What worked

for Moses will not work for Joshua. What worked for Benny Hinn is not

going to work for you. What worked for somebody who's successful in you know,

politics, you're looking looking up to and you're saying, you know,

will follow the stream strategy, it's not going to work for you. Somebody

in the media industry that you're looking up to. It's not going to work

for you. It's good to learn from their best practices, it's good to

learn from their lessons, it's good to learn from you know what works,

and what works, what doesn't work, and so certain things. But by

the end of the day, you need to come down to asking the Lord

what is the unique strategy he has for you? And when you follow that

unique strategy that God has for you, then you will see victory. Then

you will come out victorious. Today I pray in the name of Jesus Christ

that you will stop going after other people and just going and following people and

following their strategies blindly. But get to the place where you just okay,

you know what. I'm going to learn from their lessons, learn from their

mistakes, learn from the best practices. But by the end of the day,

I'm going to make a decision based on the strategies that God is giving

me. I'm going to follow what God wants me to do. And when

you do that, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you will

be effective. Just like Joshua was effective as much as Moses, but he

followed a different strategy. You will be effective because God is leading you and

directing your steps. In Jesus name, I pray end. God bless you.
