Gifta International. Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. Sometimes in
life we are forced to do certain things that we don't want to do.
We may be obligated to do certain things that we know that's not the right
thing to do. You may be forced. Maybe you're in a place where
you're saying, John, you know what, my authorities in my school,
they forced me to cheat. I don't want to do this, but I
am forced to cheat in this examination. Or the authorities in my workplace they
forced me to, you know, maybe change something around. And I know
that's not the right thing to do, but I am forced to compromise.
If not, I big thought of the organization. So sometimes you may be
in a place where you are not in a position to stand your ground.
Yes, I understand, we say, you know, if you are a
true child of God, if you're a true Christian, you will stand your
ground. But there are moments you can't actually do that. You don't want
to do this, but you are obligated to do it. You know that's
not the right thing to do, but you are forced to do it.
You know this is the direction God wants you to go, but your family
is not agreeing to it, so you need to take a different route for
the time being. And you know this is not what you're supposed to do,
but you are forced to do it. You may be in a place
where you're saying, John, I don't want to do this, but I'm
forced to do this. I'm obligated to do this, and I don't know
what to do. I'm not able to do my best. I'm looking like
a failure, I'm looking like I'm stupid, and i just don't know what
else I can do. Well if that describes you, because I want to
talk to you from a very important passage and I want to share from God's
word, because this, I believe is going to bless you if you're going
through something like that. I'm going to talk to you from Second King,
chapter two, and I'm just going to explain this incident when Elijah is about
to be taken into heaven. And this is a moment when Elijah, who
walked with Elijah, was really heavy in his heart because it was his master.
Okay, I'm going to read different verses and I'm going to give you
the context of this. You see, everybody in that place knew that Elisha
was going to lose his master. Everybody knew that Elijah was going to be
taken up to Heaven. You see, for example, in verse two in
our second Ging Sapart two, Elijah said to Elisha, stay here, for
the Lord has told me to go to Bethel. But Elisha replied, as
surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you.
So they went together to Bethel. The group of prophets from Bethel came
to Elisha and asked him, do you know that the Lord is going to
take your master away from you today? Of course I know. Elishah's answered,
but be quiet about it. Then Elijah said to Elisha, stay here,
for the Lord told me to go to Jericho. But Elisha said,
no, I am going to Jericho. So he goes with him to Jericho.
And again what happens in Jericho? Fifteen men from the group of prophets
went along, and then what happens when they go to Jericho again the same
thing repeats that the group of prophets who come over and they say, did
you know that the Law is going to take your master away? So you
have to understand they didn't just anticipate that Elijah was going to be taken away
today. They didn't just say I think today is going to be Elijah's last
day. They said it with certainity. Did you know that your master is
going to be taken away today? It was a sense of certainty. It
was like the breaking news of that day. It was like what you call
us, you know, the headlines, the breaking news saying Elijah is going
to be taken away today. It was like a true fact that nobody could
question about. Okay, I'm just setting the stage for you to understand.
This is where they were. And then you see they go over crossing the
jardan and as they walking Elijah and Elishah. You see, the Lord takes
Elijah and goes right. I'm just paraphrasing for you to understand. Elijah was
carried by a world wind into heaven. Elijah saw it and cried, my
father, my father. I see the chariots and chariots of Israel. And
as they disappeared from side, Elijhah to its clothes in distress. Now,
look at was fifteen when the group of prophets from Jericho saw from a distance
what happened, which means that they didn't just hear about it. They didn't
just say, okay, I think you know I would see Elijah again.
The scripture says that they saw Elijah being taken, they saw what happened.
Okay, I'm just taking the context here to help you understand. They they
saw what happened, and I want you to pay attention to right. They
went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him, and then verse
sixteen, they said, sir, just say a word, and fifty of
our strongest men will search the wilderness war your master. Perhaps the spirit of
the Lord has left him on some random mountain or in some valley, just
say a word. These people just saw what happened. They knew that Elijah
was going to be taken up to heaven, but still they wanted Elijah.
But still they wanted to, you know, force Elijhah to do something,
say a word so that we can go. Fifty of a man will go
and search for Elijah. Elisha said, no, don't send him Verse seventeen.
But they kept urging him until they shamed him into agree. See,
sometimes you know that's not the right thing to do, but you are forced
to say, yes, that's what has happened. And he finally said,
all right, send them, all right, send them. You see,
Elishah was in a place he could not say no. You know why because
you see, you know, in today's political world and all of that,
you know, you would have seen this the kind of thought that would have
come as maybe Elishah scanned he doesn't want Elijah back, Maybe he had no
real love for Elijah. He doesn't want Elijah back because if he comes back,
he has to serve Elijah again. Now he can be the master.
You know, they could have thought in that line. So Elishah could not
have given them the opportunity to think in that line. He was obligated at
this point of time to allow the men to go search for Elijah. See,
sometimes you know that's not the right thing to do, but you're obligated
to do it so that they don't misunderstand you. Sometimes you know that it's
not a step to day. You know you don't want to do that.
You know that is, you know, against what is your best interest or
what is the right thing to do. That is your wish, that is
what you have as your school of thought. But you have to act against
it just because others don't misunderstand you, just because you're shamed into or you're
forced into something. And here you see the mighty profet Elishah was forced into
it. And in fact, fifty men searched and for three days, and
they not find Elijah, not one day, not two days, three days.
They searched, in spite of him telling don't do it, in spite
of the fact that they all saw Elijah being taken up to heaven. In
spite of that, they searched for three days and they did not find Elijah.
Elishah was still at Jericho when they returned, and he said, didn't
I not tell you to go? Now? I want you to understand.
Yes, you can say this is what the men did, but Elishah was
their leader. You see, when you see in government, even if somebody
else in the party or the government says something, they bring out a policy,
they do something. Always the you know what do you call this?
The blame comes on the figurative head of that government or the party. Right
if for example, if you take in the case of the United States of
America, whatever any senator does, or whatever any person in the House of
Representative does, or whatever policy the government bring, it's going to come under
the banner or the picture of the president. Or when you take some country
like India, whatever, a person in the government, maybe an LA or
an MP, whatever he says, he's going to be pictured under the party
that he belongs to, or if he's under the head of you know,
this particular government, the prime minister. So if something fails, they're not
going to blame the man who brought the policy. They're going to blame the
prime minister because it was under him. If something works, they're not going
to congratulate the man who did it. They're going to congratulate the head,
the president or the prime minister. You get what I'm saying. So you're
you see in that context, when Elishah just takes over and there are fifty
men under him, the first mission of Elisha look like a failure. Even
though it was not what he wanted to do. He was forced by his
party members to do it, and it came out as a failure. Now
today you may be in a place like that where you're saying, I didn't
want this, they forced me into it, and now he didn't work out,
but everybody blames me for it. You get what I'm saying. That's
how Elasha could have felt. You may be in a place like that.
You're saying, John, these people forced me to it. I didn't want
to do it. I knew that was not the right thing to do.
I was obligated to and do it. But kennethal is something just like in
the end delicious and didn't I tell you not to go. In other words,
he was vindicated in his own way. I want to tell you God
is going to vindicate you in your own way. Your reputation is in God's
hands. Some people may make you do something you don't want to do,
and the blame might come on you. People might look down on you.
People might think you're crazy, stupid, damn, whatever be its. I
want you to understand that by at the end of the day, when it's
all said and done, God is your vindicator. God knows how to hold
your reputation. Your credibility is in God's sense. I'm not asking you to
do something stupid, but I'm talking about moments when you are forced to do
something against your wish, When you are in the place like that I wanted
you to be in a place of peace. You say, God, I
don't want to do this, but I'm forced to. If it's your will,
you can take this away from me. But if that's not happening the
way you want, surrender it to God. Just like Elisha was forced to
do it, and it looked like his first mission as the successor of Elijah
failed. Yet eventually, when it's all said and done, God's hand was
physsibly seen upon Elijah. He did double the number of miracles that Elijah did.
He did great splendor, a great deal of wonder for the glory of
God. You will be able to do it when you would come to the
place where you surrender those things into his hands. Lord, I pray for
those who are in those moments when they are forced to do something against their
wish, when they are obligated to do something that they don't want to do.
But I pray when it's all said and done, you hold their reputation,
that their reputation is in your hands, their credibilities in your hands,
and you're going to vindicate them in the right way at the right appointed time.
