Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John gift of podcast, and I'm so
Speaker 2: grateful to guard it. You're doing the series on how
Speaker 2: to practically Walk in Love and we're going to look
Speaker 2: at various aspects from the love chapter for Squarreantian chapter thirteen.
Speaker 2: We've been looking at it and today I'm going to
Speaker 2: talk about one aspect I believe is so needed for us,
Speaker 2: especially in a time and age when everybody puts everything
Speaker 2: out there on social media. The minute you go on
Speaker 2: you see somebody else putting their highlights every time as
Speaker 2: a Christen single, you see, oh, somebody else gets engaged,
Speaker 2: or you're waiting for you know, like a child, and
Speaker 2: you see somebody else posting that they got a child,
Speaker 2: or they're getting blessed with another baby, or you're looking
Speaker 2: at somebody else on their vacation trips and you are
Speaker 2: struggling to meet your daily needs being met, and you're like, oh,
Speaker 2: my goodness, what is going on? And that's why you
Speaker 2: have to remember the Bible says in First Currentines thirteen
Speaker 2: was for that we already spoke about love is patient,
Speaker 2: love is kind. And today I'm going to talk about
Speaker 2: an important aspect, love does not envy. I want you
Speaker 2: to understand this important truth, guys. Love does not envy.
Speaker 2: And what does the word in me mean? In me
Speaker 2: means that you feel frustrated or anger towards the fact
Speaker 2: that somebody else is having what you would like to have.
Speaker 2: How do you feel when somebody else is walking in
Speaker 2: the very things you've been praying for? How do you
Speaker 2: feel when you are reading on God for a job
Speaker 2: you're looking at somebody else getting three job offers? How
Speaker 2: do you feel when you are reading on God to
Speaker 2: get married? But somebody else is getting the things that
Speaker 2: you would be like, oh my gosh, how did they
Speaker 2: get together? Why isn't God showing up in my life?
Speaker 2: Or you're looking at somebody else posting about their kid
Speaker 2: and you're like, I'm struggling to get a child for
Speaker 2: this many years. Or they got into this new home
Speaker 2: and I'm still being ranked in this home, or see,
Speaker 2: I wanted to understand something here right. God has promised
Speaker 2: that he would bless us. He has good plans for
Speaker 2: us when we continue to look up to him, walk
Speaker 2: in his guidance and his plans and his purposes, and
Speaker 2: walk in wisdom over the finance he has given us,
Speaker 2: and walk in with in the way he wants us
Speaker 2: to contact ourselves. What happens, no good thing? Believe with
Speaker 2: them that walk up brightly. God's timing is different. God's
Speaker 2: ways are different, and the way He leads each one
Speaker 2: of us is different. So today my question is are
Speaker 2: you in a place of envy when you look at
Speaker 2: somebody else? First thing, I want to let you know
Speaker 2: that everybody's starting point is different. You may be looking
Speaker 2: at someone else and feeling like they are ahead of
Speaker 2: you in life, but you do not know where they started.
Speaker 2: Maybe you were far behind, maybe there were hurdles that
Speaker 2: you had to endure, But it's not at a disadvantage.
Speaker 2: It's just that God's appointed time. He's going to help
Speaker 2: you get what He has planned for you, what He
Speaker 2: has prepared for you. When you think about Joseph in
Speaker 2: the Bible, you know, the comparer spent a lesser time
Speaker 2: in the prison than Joseph, but the promotion that Joseph
Speaker 2: God was bigger than what the comparer got. When the
Speaker 2: compara went back to the palace, he went back as
Speaker 2: a comparer. But when Joseph left the prison, he went
Speaker 2: to the second highest position in the whole kingdom as
Speaker 2: a prime minister. So I want you to understand that
Speaker 2: when you wait longer, it's not for you to be
Speaker 2: envious of somebody else who's getting a blessing in a
Speaker 2: quicker route. And again, when you say real quicker route,
Speaker 2: sometimes you do not really know what the other person
Speaker 2: is going through or has been through. Sometimes. The other
Speaker 2: day I was talking to this friend of mine, and
Speaker 2: she knows a lot about the struggles I've been through
Speaker 2: and retrunning the ministry in the midst of everything, And
Speaker 2: she said something she said, you know, very few people
Speaker 2: know about the depth of what I'm going through, And
Speaker 2: she said, you have actually carried out really well. And
Speaker 2: she said something very important. She said, a lot of people,
Speaker 2: you know envy you know somebody who's doing work like
Speaker 2: the way you do, but they do not know the
Speaker 2: kind of stuff you've been through or you're going through
Speaker 2: and still doing what you're doing. And that's why I
Speaker 2: don't like when people envy. She said this, and that
Speaker 2: held on to me because I believe that it's true. Right,
Speaker 2: like we envy someone else not knowing what do they
Speaker 2: go through, maybe you wouldn't even be able to handle
Speaker 2: a bit of the kind of challenges they've went through.
Speaker 2: You know, I've shared this so many times that over
Speaker 2: the years I've gone through so much of attacks, so
Speaker 2: much of opposition, so much of pain to endure. So
Speaker 2: many times I would cry in the bed and so much.
Speaker 2: I know it's being vulnerable and sharing this, but I've
Speaker 2: been put off, I've been discounted, I've been made fun of,
Speaker 2: I've been mocked, I've been ridiculed. I've gone through so
Speaker 2: much over the years, and the reason I still show up,
Speaker 2: the reason I still do what I do to do
Speaker 2: what God has called me to do, is like it's
Speaker 2: not because it's easy, but because I know that when
Speaker 2: it's all said and done, I'm blessing lives through this
Speaker 2: process and at the right appointed time, God will bless
Speaker 2: and show up in my life. But the three thing
Speaker 2: is that a lot of times I know this, like,
Speaker 2: you know, a lot of people would not be able
Speaker 2: to sustain or survive in the kind of environment or
Speaker 2: the attacks that I've been through. But you know, like
Speaker 2: so it makes no sense for somebody to actually be
Speaker 2: envious or how can you have a top ranking podcast?
Speaker 2: How can you be a best selling author? How can
Speaker 2: you travel to nations and preach? Will look at me?
Speaker 2: But you do not know the kind of attacks I've
Speaker 2: been through. You do not know how many discouragements I
Speaker 2: have endured. You do not know how many times I
Speaker 2: was put down, ridiculed, and mark You do not know
Speaker 2: like how I go through things behind the scenes and
Speaker 2: still show up. See, instead of being envious of somebody,
Speaker 2: think about what they've been through. You know. I love
Speaker 2: another statement someone said, they said a testimony can either
Speaker 2: irritate you or it can inspire you. You know, you
Speaker 2: can either affelate irritated why is God blessing them and
Speaker 2: not me? Or it can inspire you to say, if
Speaker 2: God bless them, he will definitely bless me. Because God
Speaker 2: is a good God. He's not a partial God. If
Speaker 2: you would stay in faide, he will show up in
Speaker 2: your life. If you would trust him, he will lead
Speaker 2: you through the best part He has designed for you.
Speaker 2: If something is not working in a certain direction, you're
Speaker 2: not getting what you want in a certain direction, maybe
Speaker 2: God wants to bless you in a different direction. You know,
Speaker 2: I want you to get to that place where you say, God,
Speaker 2: what is it that you want me to endo work on?
Speaker 2: What is the direction you want me to go? Instead
Speaker 2: of being envious of somebody else, help me to praise
Speaker 2: God for them and praise you in advance for what
Speaker 2: you're about to do in my life. So today I
Speaker 2: want to pray over each one of you. But if
Speaker 2: there are areas in your life where you feel envious
Speaker 2: about somebody or something, Maybe you are envious about someone
Speaker 2: out there on your social media feed, listen. There are
Speaker 2: some things you can do, Like if something is affecting
Speaker 2: your mind, you want to take a break, take a
Speaker 2: break and follow them for a while, or you want
Speaker 2: to take a break from social media, generally go ahead
Speaker 2: and do it. Or if some you know, like if
Speaker 2: you're feeling like, oh my gosh, why is this person
Speaker 2: being blessed? If you feel you know, going near them
Speaker 2: or being near that person is making those envious feeling
Speaker 2: feelings to rise even more, maybe take a break, take
Speaker 2: a step back, and pray that God works in your
Speaker 2: heart to make you deal with that envy and then
Speaker 2: come to that place of security in God, knowing that
Speaker 2: God asked you in the best place and he knows
Speaker 2: when to give you what you need, and then you
Speaker 2: can you know, reassociate with that person. At the same time,
Speaker 2: Also remember that the person that you are envious about
Speaker 2: me have gone through beyond what you can even imagine.
Speaker 2: So instead of being envious, I pray that we will
Speaker 2: walk in love and always walk in love and always
Speaker 2: be people who show that loud one to another. Amen,
Speaker 2: God bless you.
