When GOD Leads You Through the Wilderness | John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
What do you do when life suddenly feels like a wilderness? In Deuteronomy 8, GOD reminds His people that He intentionally led them through the wilderness — not to destroy them, but to teach them dependence on Him.
Even in the wilderness:
• GOD fed them with manna
• Their clothes did not wear out
• Their feet did not swell
• And His word sustained them
In this deeply personal episode, John Giftah shares lessons from Deuteronomy 8 along with his own testimony of walking through a difficult season filled with financial, emotional, health, and career challenges.
This message will encourage you to understand that:
Wilderness seasons are not wasted seasons
GOD is still leading you even when life feels uncertain
Dependence on GOD produces spiritual strength
His Word can sustain you when everything else fails
If you are currently walking through a difficult season, this message will remind you that GOD is still providing, sustaining, and guiding you — even in the wilderness.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soldier John Gifta podcast where I want to talk to you about something very very important. If you had listened to my previous segment, I shared from Tutonomy chapter eight, and I reminded you of an aspect that if you are praying and you are actually walking in your God given promised land over your life, and you're in that place where you're like, you know what, Wow, everything is hittled and everything is great, I reminded you of this important verse that the Lord was breaking in my heart that you know, when you have tasted the fruit of the promised land, do not forget the Lord your God.
Speaker 2: But today I want to also remind you of something from the same passage Teutonomy, chapter eight, because I believe this is so important for such a time as this. But the Lord is speaking to them. These are verses which I already covered yesterday, but I want to just focus on something very very important here. This is from verse two, right. God is saying, remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years to humble and to test, in order to see what was in your heart whether you would or not keep his commandments.
Speaker 2: All right, he humbled you, causing you to hunger, and then feeding you with manna, which neither you or your ancestor had known about, to teach you that man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. And your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years you're sitting. I want to remind you, guys, Okay, if you feel following my content on a regular basis, especially on the podcast, I have mentioned to you that last year was one of the hardest years for me.
Speaker 2: There were so many attacks after attacks over my life, and there was an attack financially where I lost a huge I had a huge financial loss, and in the time I was trying to recover, I lost my job in a mass layoff.
Speaker 3: And then I was.
Speaker 2: Just trying to, you know, come come to terms with what was happening in my life. And then my health took her it and very soon, you know, there was some family members who were unwell, and you know, like there was some emergencies and surgery and things like that. That was like one after that, one after another, attack after that attack, plus the pressure from folks, you know, like get some job, even if it means that, you know, like if it compromises on your ministry time, even if it means you can't do ministry, get some jobs.
Speaker 2: That that kind of a pressure. And even in the ministry for that matter. You know, there were so many attacks after our attacks, closed doors, rejections, people being you know, like writing me off and doing stuff. And it was it was nothing but how the children of his were moving in a season of wilderness. I can tell you it was an actual wilderness for me, right, It was an actual wilderness for me because everything was dry, closed doors after close those prayers were not getting answered, nothing was working out, and it was like a moment where everything was like, oh my gosh, you know what I'm praying and there's no change, and everybody's like, maybe you're making a mistake, maybe you're not trusting out, or maybe you're not in the Lord.
Speaker 2: Maybe you do you committed something, that's why God is finishing you.
Speaker 3: You know, all these kind of voices speaking into my life.
Speaker 2: And there were so many pressure, so much pressure, like you know, forget the ministry.
Speaker 3: You know, like you're being like a hypocrite.
Speaker 2: You're encouraging people and you know, preaching God's word, but look at your life. It's such a mess. You know, everything was coming against me. And I'm telling you this passage is exact to my situation. And I believe that you'll be in a place if you're saying, like you know, I'm in a wilderness or maybe in some season you're going through a wilderness season, you will understand something I want to tell you. You know, it says you remember how the Lord, your God led you all the way in the wilderness.
Speaker 2: I want you to understand even though it did not make sense. God was constantly leading me. I'm telling you. In the midst of everything, when I had all the reason to throw in the towel, to give up on the ministry, to just you know, forget God, I'm telling you honestly, there was so much happening emotionally, mentally, suicidal depression at acting me on one side, like it was so strong, like mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, career wise, ministry wise, everything was.
Speaker 3: Out of control, you know.
Speaker 2: And of course I'm a Christian single, so the pressure to like, you know, meet the right person and get married. That that's another side from especially if you're from India, you'll understand the context that I'm trying to talking about.
Speaker 3: You know, all of these things.
Speaker 2: And here's the thing i want to tell you, right, even in the midst of all of that, when I kept depending on God, when I kept you know, making sure that I was growing in the Lord, I'm telling you honestly, the Lord was leading me even when I couldn't see it. But even when I didn't feel like it, nobody else could understand. When I would tell people that, you know, know, the Lord was showing me this fission. The Lord was telling me, this is what I got to do. But you know what, it didn't make sense for people because they were like, you're saying, God is speaking to you, but look at your life.
Speaker 3: It's such a mess. You may feel like that.
Speaker 2: Sometimes the Bible goes on to say He humbled you, causing you to hunger and to feed you with manna, you know, to teach you that man does not live by bread alone, but on every word it comes from the mouth of God. I'm telling you, in this entire season, I made sure that I grew in my intimacy with the Lord to hear his voice, and I took steps as God led me, you know, based on the encounters, the visions, and the words that He was speaking over my life. I'm telling you honestly, it was not easy where everybody is against you or everything is against you, but you are saying, no, this is the conviction from the Lord, and I'm going to stand firm even with regard to choosing a good job.
Speaker 2: But the grace of God. After over seven months, I was able to land one. Here's the thing. I'm going to tell you something. Right the Lord opened the right door at the right time. But the last seven I mean the last one year ever since everything took off right, Everything was like one after another after another, attack after attack. And here's the thing I want you to understand. In the midst of everything, I was, you know, like being led by God. I went by, you know. I took the steps based on how the word of the Lord was leading me, how God was speaking to me.
Speaker 2: This is why I keep telling you you need to hear God's voice. The Lord was showing me through visions, dreams. I stoodn't my ground on convictions, and I'm telling you he met my needs. He took care in the last I mean, made sure that the Ministry did not get hit. In fact, WI also says your clothes did not wear out or your feet did not swell these forty years. And I was reminded, like you know, even in the midst of this, the knees that were there, the Lord met, you know, the Lord showed up, you know, like even the Ministry I had did so many collaborations.
Speaker 2: I did so many video ships and photoshoots, high quality content, you know, like on YouTube. The TV program did not stop. Everything went as planned, you know, like I'm telling you today that you can trust God even in your wilderness, because when God has called you, he knows how to make a way for you. When God has chosen you, nothing can stop you. So my challenge to each one of you hundred is sort of my voice, is get to that place where you trust God and move by what He is saying, Be moved by His leading over your life.
Speaker 2: And I'm telling you, guys, it's just simply awesome. God is an awesome God. And after all of this, when Lord lives you and takes you to your promised land, do not forget the Lord, your God. Do not forget the way he led you, the way he took care of you, the way he met you, the way he made sure that you would be fine in the midst of turmoil. Right, Share this with someone whom you know is going through a wilderness season. I believe this word will encourage him that if God helped John, God will help them.
Speaker 3: God will help you. If He helped me, he will help you. Guys. All right, God bless.
