The Promised Land Test | Will You Remember GOD? | John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
Many people pray for their breakthrough. They pray for the promised land.
They pray for blessings, promotion, relationships, and open doors.
But Scripture gives a serious warning.
In Deuteronomy, GOD tells His people:
“When you enter the good land… be careful that you do not forget the LORD your GOD.”
Success can become a distraction.
Blessings can slowly replace devotion.
The miracle we prayed for can become the thing that pulls us away from GOD.
In this episode, John Giftah shares a powerful reminder:
Don’t let the promised land make you forget the One who brought you there.
Whether it’s a new job, a relationship, success, or breakthrough — the challenge is to keep GOD at the center even after the prayer is answered.
This message will help you:
• Stay spiritually grounded in seasons of blessing
• Recognize the hidden danger of success
• Keep your heart aligned with GOD even in prosperity
• Remember the Source of every breakthrough
Your promised land is a blessing —
but don’t let the blessing replace the Blesser.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta podcast. But I quickly want to share a scripture with you, and I want to take this forward. Okay, it is found in Geutonomy chapter eight. Okay, this is what the Lord is giving the Physrael said they're about into the Promised Land, and this is what he is saying. If you look at verse leven, he says, be careful that you do not forget the Lord, your God. Okay, he's actually saying in verse ten, when you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the land that he has given you.
Speaker 2: So when you're about into the Promised Land, and when you are actually started living in that promised land, he's saying, be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God. Even a couple of verses down again goes down to say this that then when your herds and your flocks grow large, and your silver and your gold increases, and all that you have multiplied, then your heart will become so proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt and out of the land of slavery. He led you through all of these things.
Speaker 2: So the Lord is saying this as a word of caution, and he's telling them, you know, listen, I'm the one who led you in the past. I'm the one who directed yourselfs I'm the one who took care of you. I met your needs even when you were going through the wilderness, even when you were walking towards the promised land. Listen, I did not leave you, not for sake. I took care of you. If you see in verse two, he says, remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years to humble and to test you, in order to check what is in your heart whether or not you would keep his commandments.
Speaker 2: He humbled you, causing you to hunger, and then feeding you in manna, which neither knew you or your ancestors, and known to teach that man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mount of God. And he goes on to say, your clothes do not wear out, your feet did not swell during these forty years. And you know, like so as a man disciplines his son, the Lord has disciplined you. So what God is saying here is that listen, I took care of you. I met your needs. I was there for you even when you went through your tough times.
Speaker 2: But remember when you're about to enter your promise land. Remember when you get into the promise land, when you're walking in that promise land, when you are actually growing in that promise land, becoming prosperous, succeeding, and you know, becoming mighty, and all of these things. In all of those things, do not forget the Lord, your God. This is a word to some of your in your life. If you are in a place where you're saying, you know what, I'm walking in my promise land, I'm in this. It's so good in that moment.
Speaker 2: Don't forget the Lord your God. I'm telling you, honestly, I think you guys know this that apart from the podcast, I have YouTube channel. I really encourage you to connect with me through YouTube, through social media and different portals. Here's the thing. On the YouTube channel on Instagram. You know, one of the things I've been praying for a long time is that my videos grow take off with the grace of God. The podcast is trending across the globe, but likewise, I've been praying on the videos to grow and all of these things, and recently one of my videos on Instagram, especially on the joke page.
Speaker 2: Listen on Instagram, I have multiple pages. I have the main page, I have a page dedicated for ministry content. I have another page for Scooby Doo related Scooby Doo pasta, you know, preaching through Scooby Doo content, and another that's called the Scooby Doo Pasta page. And the other page is for my jokes okay, where I also bring out messages through comedy and jokes. So on this page, one of the videos that I had recently posted, you know, acrossed over one hundred thousand views within less than two days.
Speaker 2: I was so excited, and I was like, Oh my gosh, this has never happened before. I was so excited. I was so excited, refreshing to see the new comments, the new you know, analytics, and the number of views and all of that. I was so excited that at one point I was like, the Lord was pricking me and saying, listen, listen, this is the promised land you were hoping for, right Are you so caught up with it that you forget me?
Speaker 1: You know?
Speaker 2: It was like an interaction between me and and I was like, God, yes, yes, I don't want to forget you. Because even in the midst of this, I constantly kept on praying. Speaking a tongues, I was like, Lord, thank you for this view, thank you for this. I've been working so hard for so many years. Thank you for this. And at the same time, I said, you know, I put that analytic things off and I started worshiping the Lord. I said, God, you know what, apart from you, I can do nothing. I don't want to forget you just because a video goes viral.
Speaker 2: You know what I mean in the sense that's a practical thing. I want to challenge you. For you, it may not be about a video going viral. It may be about you getting so caught up with that new relationship, or you're so excited about the new person God brought into your life, or you're so caught up with that new work that you're forgetting God. That's a big no no. Listen, some of you know this. I recently got a new job and I'm so excited, like Wow, after a long time, the Lord opened an amazing door.
Speaker 2: And I'm one of my prayers constantly is God, I need to put my best in this work. I need to the spirit of excellence and go the extra mile. But this job should never never take your place. It should not choke my calling. You should be in the center of it. And I'm telling you that is a conscious decision. I'm making every step along the way, whether at work, whether in the ministry, whether you're on videos, whether in my life. I'm constantly remembering the Lord, and I'm saying, God, help me not to forget you, help me to be conscious of You.
Speaker 2: And that's why This was was constantly ringing in my heart that you know what, when the Lord takes you to your promised land, do not forget the Lord your God. Today I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that when you step into your promised land, when the Lord is about who opened the doors that you've been praying about, dreaming about the connections, the relationships that you've been waiting for. When the Lord is going to make that video go viral, or when the Lord is going to make your book become a bestseller.
Speaker 2: Now the Lord is going to make your business flourish. Do not forget the Lord your God. That's my challenge. The same chapter, the same passage. I'm going to talk a couple of other things. I believe it's so important. I want to share about it in the next episode, But for now, I really recommend that you would you keep this in the center of your heart so that your heart is aligned in the right way, so that the Lord is You've.
