record holder, aerospace engineer, life coach, evangelist, and founder of John
Gifta International. Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. I'm gonna
talk to you today from an important passage that most of you may be very
familiar with, and it is found in Luke chapter five. There's a moment
when Peter and the gang had fished all night caught nothing, and there's a
moment where Jesus finishes speaking. He uses Peter's boat as the platform to preach,
and then he says, let's go catch some fish, and in verse
five, Peter says, we worked hard last night and then catch anything.
But if you say so, I let the nets down again. And this
time they had a knitbreaking load of fish. That worse seven is what I
want you guys to focus on. It says that they had to shout out
for help, or in different translations, it says they signaled to their partners,
they waved to their friends, or you know, the coworkers. The
different translations use different choice of words, but in simple words, it says,
you know, somebody they were connected with right to come and help them.
And so when they came forward and they were able to fill both the
boats with fish, that both of the boats were on the verge of sinking.
And the latter versus talk about how the other partners were James and John,
the sons of Zebite, which also refers to the fact that Peter was
not alone. You know, I was kind of like, you know,
trying to break my head on this because it says when Jesus said I want
you to cast down, you know, into the waters, into the deep
side to catch more fish, it seems like there was only Peter and Jesus
at the scene, right, That's what it looked like. But it actually
goes on to talk about how you know inverse six that this time their nets
were so filled, which means that it was not just Peter. There were
others who were working alongside with Peter, like it was his boat with his
gang. You know, there were people connected with Peter that they had to
signal to other partners in other boats, and that is John and James.
What I want you guys to understand here is that it was not just the
one man show right Peter was running. It was he was connected with people.
And we'll think about this. It was not just Peter who got blessed.
Yes, the focus is on Peter because he ends up saying, you
know, I'm a sinful man. Depart from me, and then Jesus calls
out Peter. God, Jesus is calling out you know, John and James
to become his disciples. And the Bible says once they reached the show,
they left their boats and they followed Jesus. That's what the Bible says.
But but I wanted you to understand there were other people also in that It
was not just Peter, because if you see different translations, is talk about
how they had to, you know, catch a lot of fish that they
had to call out. It was not saying he called out right, they
had to and different ways of understanding that there were people connected with Peter.
What I want you guys to understand is when Jesus did the miracle for Peter,
Jesus did the miracle mainly or primarily, it focuses on Peter, but
other people who are also blessed because they were connected with Peter. Are you
getting what I'm saying. It's so important that you check yourself who you are
connected with. Sometimes you may be saying, you know what, I don't
have direct access for the blessing like you know, in the sense that not
everybody had that same conversation or the opportunity to talk to Jesus. At this
point, we don't even know who the other people were. But the truth
is Peter had a direct connection. Jesus speaks to Peter. In fact,
if you read a couple of verses before, it says that Jesus had asked
Peter to put the boat further into the water so that he could start preaching,
which means he had a conversation with Jesus. Right. Means that even
though other men you know who are connected with Peter do not have the same
opportunity of privilege as Peter did at that point, they still got a blessing
because they were connected to Peter. What I want you to understand is you
may not directly get the kind of blessing or favor right away like some people
like you know, Peter did. You know, I do believe that God
has a different call and a different purpose for each individual. But but what
I want you to understand is not everybody gets the same degree or the same
nature of a blessing like you know, in this case, like I said,
Peter was the only one who got a direct opportunity to talk to Jesus
at this point, which others who were connected with Peter did not. But
they got a share of the blessing just because they were connected with Peter,
even though they were not directly connected with Jesus. Even though they directly they
not they do not have an opportunity to converse with Jesus. And you also
see because the boat belonged to Peter, you know, it was it was
something like maybe they were just working for Peter. They didn't own a boat,
they didn't have the opportunity to give Jesus a platform like Peter did.
But the fact that they saw that you know, Peter was there, they
were connected with Peter, they also got the blessing. What I want you
to understand is today, even if you don't get the direct opportunity that you're
hoping for, even though you don't get the vision, you know opportunities or
you know steps towards you're calling your purpose, your goals, your your ministry,
your carryer more, whatever it is you're praying about. You know,
even though you don't have the direct opportunity, maybe if you can see a
Peter around you, maybe somebody who's getting the opportunity that you wish, you
could get connected with them, because you are going to get your share of
the blessing. And that's when God sees that you're faithful in that little he
will also take you to the next level. Maybe you can get the opportunity
to own your own boat and get a direct opportunity to us with Jesus like
Peter who had a direct opportunity. I mean, I'm just giving you an
analogy here, right. I hope you're getting what I'm saying. That's the
way I'm saying. Even if you don't get the direct opportunity right away,
it's okay, but get connected, get plugged in, get you know,
into the line. How do I say this? You know, get get
close to a Peter, somebody who's already getting what you have been praying about.
Today, I want you to pay attention to check who are you connected
with? Who are the people connected with? Are they further towards your calling?
Are the people who have what you've been praying about? You know,
we have a tendency to, you know, be jealous of those people,
But can we be connected with them instead of being jealous? Connected with them
and pray for a moment where you can support their course, support their vision,
stand with them, because when they get blessed, you're also going to
get blessed. You know, there's this famous quote. I think most of
you may know it, Show me your friend, and I will show you
you know who you are or where you're going to go, and so on
and so forth. And the Bible also talks about in the in the in
the Old Testament, it talks about you know, you know how the right
kind of people will shape you. You know, when you're connected with the
right friends, godly people or wise people, you know you're also going to
get that. You know, it's like high end sharpening iron. You know
you'll be drubbed with greatness. But at the same time, it's it's interesting
because a lot of times we do focus on, yes, we need to
reach out to the other people, reach out to those in darkness. But
there's also an important thing to note that as much as it's your mission is
to reach out to those who are in the darkness, who are you know
who need to get to know about the light of Christ. All of that
is true, shine your light, all of that is true, but you
also need to get to a place where you're connected with those in the light.
You need to be connected with those who are going to sharpen your skills.
Those are going to help you grow. They're going to teach you,
they're gonna equip you, they're going to stand by you, they're going to
cheer you on, encourage you, they're gonna be with you. Because through
that process, when they are going to get blessed, you're also going to
get a portion of your blessing. And that's going to be like the parable
of talents. Even though what you get maybe just one and somebody else may
beginning ten, but that one will give you an opportunity to be faithful in
that little so that you can be ready for the multiple for more that God
gives you, so that you can prove yourself, show that you were faithful
in that little and through that process you are able to get to the next
level that God has for you. Amen, God bless you. You've been
