Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. When you think about one of the classic examples I wanted to share to day with you guys, is found in the moment when David was going to defeat Goliath. You might have heard the story ever since you were young. You might have heard it in church and Sunday school or maybe just out there. It's just a public thing that you can hear so many times. You know that the giant is in front of you, but you know, with the help of God, you will be able to defeat this Goliath.
But what I want you guys to understand here is this reality of this situation. Right, when you think about the reality of this situation, first things First, you need to understand that David was not someone who was, you know, like a super natural person or a super human or something like that. He was as human as you and me. David was a little boy. And you have to understand that all of Israel's military, who had the professional training, they had the experience, and all of these people were scared to face Goliath.
Right, sometimes you need to understand this truth that you know, when God is asking you to do something, when God is giving you that boldness and that courage, and something within your rises up and says, you know, you need to do this. You need to take up this opportunity. You need to move in this direction. You need to take the step towards your God given calling. You know what happens, all of these experienced folks would come and tell you, hey, you don't stand a chance. You don't have what it takes.
Listen, if they themselves are scared to take a step. Maybe you're just being stupid. Maybe you're underestimating the size of the enemy. Maybe you don't know the reality of the situation. Maybe you don't know the seriousness of the problem. Have you have a faced moments like that, And maybe you may be in a place where you gave up on something that the Lord put in you. Maybe a boldness God gave you that you just taught you know, maybe it's not meant for me. Maybe I didn't understand the seriousness of it, and you just gave up because you looked at these people who are more experienced than you, who had more professional training than you, who looked at it in the natural.
They went through all the papers, they went through all the statistics, they went through all the you know, like the research and the analytics analysis of the thing, and then they came to the conclusion that, you know, there's no way to defeat this, or there's no way to tackle this, there's no way for you to proceed. But there's a moment where God is leading you with that boldness to stake the step of faith. I'm asking you to be like a DVD. Be bold, don't run back, be bold. You know the scripture talks about this moment.
It's one thing when he had to face Goliath. We often look at the fact, oh David was facing golhead, But I was just thinking about this. The bigger problem than facing Goliath was facing the people to give the permission to let you go and fight the goaleth. You see when you think about the moment when Saul is saying in verse thirty three, don't be ridiculous, there's no way you can fight this philistine. And possibly when your own a boy and he's been a man of war since his youth, you know. And David persisted in versary four.
I've been taking care of my father's sheep and goats, and when a bear or a lion comes to steal a lamb, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If this animal turns on me, I catch it with the jaw and club to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I'll do it to this began philistine too, for he has defiled the armies of the living Lord. And the Lord who rescued me from the class of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this philistine. Sault finally said, okay, fine, go right, and may the Lord be with you.
Now. Think about this. To convince Saul was not an easy thing to convince the king. I mean, this is a serious thing. And here's this guy who has no experience. He's a little boy in comparison to all these strained, prof professional military folks. This guy has nothing and he just comes with his crudeness, says I fought a line in the bar and I can handle this. You know, I'll tell you honestly, guys, in my own life, when when the Lord tells me to start the ministry, there were people who had these professional ministry experience, who have done things for a long period of time.
People who said, you know, you don't have understand a chance, you don't have what it takes. It's not going to work out for you. You'd better stop. People, you know, with all these theological degrees. They came and told me, I don't have the calling. I'm not fit to run the ministry, I don't have what it takes, and I'm just going to be a big, you know, laughing stock. People laughed at me, people marked at me, people people who were even closed by who didn't understand my calling. But you know what, when God asks you to do something, when God gives you the boldness, you just run ahead, just like David did.
That's exactly what I did see I'm not being stupid. But there are moments when God gives you that boldness where you do something that God wants you to do against all these experienced folks, people who have done this for a long time. But you know, that's where you realize that when David took that step against all lords, the Lord showed up. Even though there were those who said, even King Sault questioned, he said, may the Lord be with you. He didn't say hope. I mean in the sense like I know God will give you a victory.
He didn't have full faith. He isn't may the Lord be with you, you know, like in the in the sense like, oh, hope it will works out. I mean, you know, that's it. He didn't have full faith. But you know, sometimes people who in experienced positions may not have the faith in what you're about to do. But be bold and take the step, Be bold and proceed, be bold and go after what God has asked you to do. And that's exactly what Saul did. Sorry, that's exactly what David did. And this amazing thing is just like David said, the Law will give me the victory, the Lord gave him the victory.
And today I want you guys to understand when you take the step trusting in what God is asking you to do, when you proceed against all what people say. You know, when David said, you know, God will give me the victory, he was a very crude guy, right, just fighting with even though Saul put all these harmor on him. You can read that in the next couple of verses, he just ruled all that and he said, ah, I can't have a lot of this. You know, he just took a stone and you know, a fine stones and and and the sling shot.
And it was so crude. It was not professional. It was not experience coming along. It was just that crudeness. You know what people say. You know a lot of times over the years, people have said, you know that what I do, I don't. I don't follow the professional or not professional is not the right word. I don't follow. You know that this is the only way stereotype preaching. You know, I don't. I don't follow that. I just go with the uniqueness that I have bring to the table. You know, I talk about, you know, random things, I talk about Scooby Doo, I talk about, you know, like different unique ways you know i'd use comedy.
Even even I share this couple of times, you know, even recently somebody said, two three days ago, somebody said, you know, you know you're a preacher. You can't bring comedy. You know you should not do comedy. You know, it seems like I'm being crude. I'm not following the traditional pattern followed by a preacher. But you know, sometimes it's that crudeness that brings the breakthrough. It's that crudeness that that brings you to the table to to do what only you can do through the power of God upon your life.
You know, if David had the professional training, maybe he wouldn't. He would have put his faith, trust and reliance on himself and his training, his own expertise. But here you see, he came trusting on the Lord. You know, sometimes when you're crude, when you don't follow the traditional pattern approached,
I want you to understand, that's when you trust God more and that's when God shows up in a greater way. And today I want you guys to understand, even if you feel like John, I'm not as professional, like you know, like this in something some area like okay, when when God is asking you to start a business. You're saying, you know, I don't have the business terminologies. I don't know. It's okay, you can start with what you know. God will fill you up with what you need when you need to know it. Take this step of faith.
You know, sometimes I when I talk to certain people, you know, they seem very very intellectual. They use all I fight terminologies and even in in you know, Christianity, you know, they use all those words like simple words. I can give you examples of sessionism and you know, calimalism, not all these big big words people use. And I'm like, you know, I don't I don't subscribe to all of that. I just go by simple language that anybody can understand. That's who I am. Okay, So it's okay. You don't need to be, you know, eily intellectual.
Forgot to use you, AILI, you know, having all the knowledge. If you have all of that good, But you don't need to depend on that. You don't need that forgot to use you. God can use you in your crudeness. God can use you with what you have, and you will be a great blessing and the vessel for the extension of His kingdom. Amen. God, bless you.
