Consecrated for a Purpose | What “Be Holy” Really Means | John Giftah
Tonight's Episode
What does it really mean when the Bible says, “Be holy, for I am holy”?Many believers misunderstand holiness as moral perfection — and end up feeling discouraged when they struggle.
But the original meaning of holiness in Scripture is deeper.
Holiness means being set apart.
It means living with awareness that your life belongs to GOD and that you carry a divine purpose.
In this episode, John Giftah explains how holiness is not about pretending to be perfect, but about living consciously as someone chosen and consecrated for GOD’s purposes.
Drawing lessons from Samson’s life, this message challenges believers not to forget the calling placed upon them.
This sermon will help you:
• Understand the true meaning of Biblical holiness
• Stop living casually when you are called for something greater
• Walk with purpose, identity, and spiritual awareness
• Avoid the mistakes of Samson and honor your calling
You are not ordinary.
You were set apart.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the
Speaker 2: Soul with John gift of podcast. And I just want
Speaker 2: to share something very bit important with you guys, because
Speaker 2: I believe there's a place for the kind of encouragement
Speaker 2: that I share and abiliit. These insights are so powerful
Speaker 2: they help us live the life that God has called
Speaker 2: us to live. But today, being the festival of color
Speaker 2: in India called Holy, I was reminded of the word
Speaker 2: holy that many times we forget when we talk about
Speaker 2: the aspect that we are called to live by in
Speaker 2: the Word of God. Because a lot of times we
Speaker 2: focus on Yes, God wants to bless you. God loves you,
Speaker 2: God cares for you, and we all of those things
Speaker 2: are true, and we need to understand that when we
Speaker 2: understand who God is, that he is a God of love,
Speaker 2: and we are called to walk in love, and we
Speaker 2: walk in the kind of way God was called us
Speaker 2: to live, accordingly, we will be able to live the victorious,
Speaker 2: the life that God has called us to live. But
Speaker 2: somewhere along the way, this particular word gets missed out,
Speaker 2: and I just wanted to share that today. First things First,
Speaker 2: I want to share the scriptures with you. It is
Speaker 2: found in Leviticus. It says, for the Lord your God
Speaker 2: is holy. Likewise you need to be holy. Leviticus nineteen,
Speaker 2: verse two talks about it. Leviticus eleven, verse forty four
Speaker 2: also says, for the Lord your God is holy, consecrate
Speaker 2: yourself and be holy, for I am holy. Even through
Speaker 2: the New Testament. You see in First Peter it says,
Speaker 2: for just as he called you a q who called
Speaker 2: you is holy, so you be holy in all you do,
Speaker 2: for it is written, be holy because I am holy.
Speaker 2: I want you to understand that there is this fundamental
Speaker 2: requirement for all of us as children of God to
Speaker 2: be holy. And the minute we think of holy, we
Speaker 2: have certain things in mind, like what does holiness means?
Speaker 2: We think holiness means I have to live by this
Speaker 2: model standard or I have to sin no more, or
Speaker 2: I have to like So what happens is this puts
Speaker 2: this unrealistic expectation on people that oh, you know what,
Speaker 2: I have this imp your thought, or I sinned, or
Speaker 2: I did this, or I did that, so you know
Speaker 2: I'm not worthy of God's goodness or mercy or anything
Speaker 2: like that. I want you to understand. See, I want
Speaker 2: you to not go into the wrong idea with regard
Speaker 2: to who holiness. What do I mean by that. I'm
Speaker 2: not saying go and sin. I'm not saying live in
Speaker 2: this lifestyle of sin. I'm not saying that. But what
Speaker 2: I'm saying is as humans, when we're living in this world,
Speaker 2: because we have the body, if we live in the body,
Speaker 2: which is the flesh, we have a tendency to sin. Yeah,
Speaker 2: because of the fallen nature of man, we other tendency
Speaker 2: to sin. Right, but stop beating yourself for it. Because
Speaker 2: I wanted to understand the word holy. If you see
Speaker 2: in Hebrew there are two words. One is kadosh and
Speaker 2: the other is kodaish. And here's the thing I wanted
Speaker 2: to understand. Right, one is an adjective and the other
Speaker 2: is a noun. Right, here's the thing. It fundamentally means
Speaker 2: to be set apart, consecrated, or separate for a specific
Speaker 2: divine purpose. See the word holiness means you have to
Speaker 2: be set apart, you have to stand out. See it's
Speaker 2: more to do with the posture. It's more to do
Speaker 2: with that posh of the heart or to live with
Speaker 2: that consciousness that you know what I'm set apart than
Speaker 2: to do with your performance of trying to achieve moral perfection.
Speaker 2: I want you to understand this because a lot of
Speaker 2: times we think, oh man I sin, so I beat myself,
Speaker 2: or oh God will never talk to me. God will
Speaker 2: never you know, entrust me with something in my life. No,
Speaker 2: you are called for a purpose. You are called to
Speaker 2: be set apart. And that is what holiness actually mean.
Speaker 2: See what I want you to understand. When you know
Speaker 2: that you have set apart for a purpose, for a
Speaker 2: divine calling, when you know that you're called to be
Speaker 2: different from the rest of the people, set apart, that
Speaker 2: you should not compromise, you should not give in to temptation.
Speaker 2: You're not supposed to dwell with the sinners and live
Speaker 2: in that sinful lifestyle. Then what happens. You start doing
Speaker 2: what God wants you to do. You start living the
Speaker 2: kind of life that God wants you to live today.
Speaker 2: That's the challenge I want to leave with each one
Speaker 2: of you under the sound of my voice, that instead
Speaker 2: of beating yourself you know, oh no, I'm not holy,
Speaker 2: I'm not holy. No, get to that place. You know what,
Speaker 2: I just depend on God because I have become holy
Speaker 2: by Him making me holy. Okay, I'm going to talk
Speaker 2: about that in another segment, but I wanted you to
Speaker 2: understand that you yourself are set apart by God and
Speaker 2: walk in that consciousness. When you know that you are
Speaker 2: set apart, that you have been divinely kept aside for
Speaker 2: a specific divine purpose and a calling, then what happens.
Speaker 2: You will not live like other people. You will not
Speaker 2: live for a lower standard. You will not live with
Speaker 2: that worldly mindset. You will not live with that giving
Speaker 2: you to temptation, giving into compromise, giving into shortcuts, giving
Speaker 2: into the sinful lifestyle. That the world lives by. So
Speaker 2: that is the thing that I want you to have
Speaker 2: in the core of your mind. You're called to be holy,
Speaker 2: but what does that mean. It means to walk in
Speaker 2: that consciousness that you are set apart and you are
Speaker 2: in that place where you're consecrated, and you are walking
Speaker 2: with that awareness that you're here for a specific divine purpose.
Speaker 2: So you will not give into things that will destroy
Speaker 2: that purpose over your life, like the way it happened
Speaker 2: with people like Samson. You get what I'm saying. So
Speaker 2: God bless you.
