0:53 Speaker 2: lesson that we learned from the life of David. This week,

0:56 Speaker 2: we've been talking and learning a couple of things from

0:59 Speaker 2: for Samuel to seventeen, and I'm going to take you

1:02 Speaker 2: there to share something very very important. So there is

1:05 Speaker 2: this moment where you need to understand that David's brothers

1:08 Speaker 2: are in the army and at one point. When you

1:12 Speaker 2: look at verse seventeen, one day, Jesse, the father of David,

1:16 Speaker 2: says to David, take this basket of roasted grain and

1:19 Speaker 2: these ten loaves of bread, and carry them quickly to

1:24 Speaker 2: your brothers. I want you to understand them. Reading from

1:26 Speaker 2: the Nalty version, he says, carry them quickly to your brothers.

1:30 Speaker 2: And he gives a couple of instructions down there. And

1:33 Speaker 2: when you look at verse twenty, it says, so David

1:36 Speaker 2: left the sheep with another shepherd and set out early

1:41 Speaker 2: the next morning with the gifts as Jesse and directed him. See,

1:46 Speaker 2: I wanted to understand something here. You have to understand

1:49 Speaker 2: that David in general was not treated right by Jesse. Right,

1:53 Speaker 2: he was the overlooked son, the forgotten son. When you

1:56 Speaker 2: look at chapter sixteen, when King's prophet Samuel wanted to

2:01 Speaker 2: anoint the next king of Israel, Jesse forgot to even

2:05 Speaker 2: line up David. Right, you have to understand something that

2:09 Speaker 2: David was the one who had to fight the lines

2:11 Speaker 2: and the pairs, He had to go through all of

2:13 Speaker 2: those things. Jesse knew the dangers that he was putting

2:16 Speaker 2: David in because he didn't care about David. Right. So

2:20 Speaker 2: David was already treated like a slave. He was given

2:23 Speaker 2: all the menial tasks. He was given the something like

2:27 Speaker 2: a Huber Eats delivery person, you know, go and deliver food,

2:30 Speaker 2: bring back a report to me, tell me what is

2:33 Speaker 2: going on, you know, like he was using him like

2:35 Speaker 2: a like like a transportation delivery or parcel delivery person,

2:41 Speaker 2: you know, something like that. But you're sitting I wanted

2:44 Speaker 2: to understand right when Jesse gave him an instruction saying,

2:48 Speaker 2: you know what, I want you to go and do

2:49 Speaker 2: this quickly, he didn't, you know, sit out in complacency.

2:56 Speaker 2: The Bible talks about how David was diligent demon in

3:00 Speaker 2: these insignificant things that he was assigned, you know what

3:04 Speaker 2: I mean, Like even there, he immediately took a step,

3:08 Speaker 2: and even at that point, the Bible says he left

3:12 Speaker 2: the sheep another shepherd. Like he was a very responsible guy,

3:16 Speaker 2: you know what I mean. He was not like, oh okay, fine,

3:19 Speaker 2: I'll just leave and go. Oh come on, I'm always

3:21 Speaker 2: treated negatively. I'm not treating right. I'm not treated equal

3:26 Speaker 2: with my brothers. I'm treated like a you know, like

3:28 Speaker 2: a servant delivery boy, you know, less than you know

3:32 Speaker 2: the rest of the siblings. But he's the thing I

3:35 Speaker 2: wanted to understand right even there he was acting out

3:39 Speaker 2: with responsibility. He understood his responsibilities. He was diligent even

3:44 Speaker 2: in the things that seemed very insignificant. That is something

3:48 Speaker 2: I wanted to pay attention. He left out early in

3:51 Speaker 2: the morning, he listened to his dad, and even even

3:57 Speaker 2: though the instruction came from a negative source, he paid attention.

4:01 Speaker 2: When he said go quickly, he immediately assigned somebody else

4:05 Speaker 2: to take care of the sheep. Given those simple things,

4:08 Speaker 2: there was menial tasks. David was responsible response, and David

4:13 Speaker 2: was diligent, and he had a spirit of excellence. Today,

4:19 Speaker 2: I want to ask you, there may be things that

4:21 Speaker 2: you're asked to do that you don't really pay attention

4:23 Speaker 2: to that you're like doing it like an assignment. You're

4:27 Speaker 2: doing it like, oh, man, I need to get this done.

4:29 Speaker 2: But can you be someone who will be like, you

4:32 Speaker 2: know what, I'm not supposed to do this with this

4:35 Speaker 2: kind of an attitude. I'm supposed to do every assignment

4:38 Speaker 2: as if I'm doing unto the Lord. The Bible says,

4:40 Speaker 2: don't do as if you're doing unto man. You do

4:43 Speaker 2: do it as if you're doing unto the Lord. You know,

4:46 Speaker 2: I want to tell you something, right, like, especially during

4:50 Speaker 2: Christmas times, my mom prepares a lot of you know,

4:54 Speaker 2: dishes or cakes or along with that maybe some journals

4:59 Speaker 2: or book or some tracks or something like that to

5:03 Speaker 2: give to different people. And for the most part, like

5:06 Speaker 2: you know, I'm the one who has to go give

5:09 Speaker 2: it to the people. And especially I think one of

5:12 Speaker 2: those years, I was so worked up, you know, there

5:15 Speaker 2: was so many things going on. I was like, oh, man,

5:17 Speaker 2: so I have to give to this many like I think.

5:20 Speaker 2: I think I almost had like fifty people that I

5:22 Speaker 2: need to visit, Like in the last couple of days

5:26 Speaker 2: before Christmas, I was like, oh, I have to. I

5:28 Speaker 2: was more focused on getting the checklists done, you know,

5:31 Speaker 2: or person number one, person number two, like just go

5:34 Speaker 2: give it, get it done, get it done. Till at

5:37 Speaker 2: one point the Lord was like convicting me and said, see,

5:40 Speaker 2: I know you'll feel like you're just going and giving

5:43 Speaker 2: food to them, just like how David was giving food

5:46 Speaker 2: to the brothers. But God was like, can you be

5:49 Speaker 2: diligent even in that? You know what if I wanted

5:52 Speaker 2: you to minister to them while you were giving them food.

5:55 Speaker 2: Maybe you could have slowed down to listen to what

5:57 Speaker 2: they were going through. Maybe they would have shared something,

6:01 Speaker 2: maybe they would have given you a prayer point, or

6:03 Speaker 2: maybe they would have you know, like come to know

6:07 Speaker 2: about you know something about your ministry and followed your

6:11 Speaker 2: content or I mean that really shook me. I was like,

6:15 Speaker 2: I was doing this, like let me get the job done.

6:19 Speaker 2: But what if I had slowed down to say, you

6:21 Speaker 2: know what, even in that, I would be diligent, be

6:23 Speaker 2: led by the spirit of God to see if God

6:25 Speaker 2: wanted me to minister to someone while giving them just

6:28 Speaker 2: Christmas goodies. See, that is the way I want you

6:32 Speaker 2: to think. Don't ever rush through and think through as

6:36 Speaker 2: a getting a job done, but be diligent in everything

6:41 Speaker 2: that you do, because God wants to use those simple assignments.

6:44 Speaker 2: You see. Long story made sure David went to give

6:47 Speaker 2: food to his brothers and that was one of his

6:49 Speaker 2: life changing moments when he got opportunity to defeat Goliath.

6:53 Speaker 2: That changed the trajectory of his life. So you never know.

6:56 Speaker 2: I'm not saying do do it with that intention of

7:01 Speaker 2: maybe an opportunity coming away, but always do it with

7:04 Speaker 2: that sense of diligence. A sense of excellence. And I'm

7:08 Speaker 2: telling you, when you walk with stewardship and responsible enough

7:14 Speaker 2: to carry out the assignments given to you, that's when

7:18 Speaker 2: God will bless you for the greater that He has

7:21 Speaker 2: in store for you. Amen, God bless you.
