Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John gift of podcast. But I'm going
Speaker 2: to talk to you today an important aspect with regard
Speaker 2: to discerning people's intentions. I want to quickly start by
Speaker 2: sharing with you from Galatians chapter four. I know the
Speaker 2: exact passage is talking about something slightly different, but I
Speaker 2: want you to understand the principle that I want to
Speaker 2: dive into and share with you today, and it is
Speaker 2: found in verse seventeen onwards. And I'm reading to you
Speaker 2: from the Nalty version. This is the Apostle Paul saying,
Speaker 2: those false teachers are so eager to win your favor,
Speaker 2: but their intentions are not so good. They're trying to
Speaker 2: shut you off from me so that you will pay
Speaker 2: attention only to them. And verse eighteen is so powerfully
Speaker 2: he says, if someone is so eager to do good
Speaker 2: things for you, that's all right, but let them do
Speaker 2: it all the time, not just when I'm with you. See,
Speaker 2: they look like they were good. They were trying to
Speaker 2: do some good when the apostle Paul was around. They
Speaker 2: were trying to, you know, win the people's favor, to
Speaker 2: try to make them like them, instead of trying to
Speaker 2: allow them to listen to what the Apostle Paul was
Speaker 2: trying to say or the Apostopaul was doing. And these
Speaker 2: people people were just you know, you know, it's kind
Speaker 2: of like I was reminded of how especially I don't
Speaker 2: know if it happens in every country in the world,
Speaker 2: but at least in some of the countries that I've
Speaker 2: been to or been in. What happens is the minute
Speaker 2: there is election time, right, there's so much of work happening.
Speaker 2: You know, the roads are being laid, all the issues
Speaker 2: are being resolved. There are a lot of campaigns where
Speaker 2: they you know, meet with the people, listen to their problems,
Speaker 2: and once the election is over, they forget them, you
Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like it's all about those election moments,
Speaker 2: just to win the election, where you know, all the
Speaker 2: work is done or all the good is done, and
Speaker 2: all the promises are made, and you know, people are
Speaker 2: so nice and all of these things. But the minute
Speaker 2: they win and the next you know, entire term, whether
Speaker 2: it's for four years and some nations or for five
Speaker 2: years in some nations, you know, the people are forgotten.
Speaker 1: You know.
Speaker 2: The Apostle Paul was saying a very similar scenario where
Speaker 2: he was saying, see, these people are trying to act
Speaker 2: nice to get your favor, but why aren't they doing
Speaker 2: the same when I'm not around? Why are they doing
Speaker 2: it only when I'm around, just so that you know,
Speaker 2: people will fall for them instead of falling or listening
Speaker 2: to what I've got to say, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2: It's it's a very similar scenario, and that's why the
Speaker 2: Apostle Polity saying discern, discern. You know, they're just trying
Speaker 2: to win your favor, but they don't have good intentions.
Speaker 2: If they really care about you, they would care about
Speaker 2: you even when I'm not around, you know, like like
Speaker 2: the case of these you know, there's the politicians I'm
Speaker 2: giving as an example. Okay, if they really want to
Speaker 2: do good to you, they would do good to you
Speaker 2: throughout their entire term, not just wait for the election
Speaker 2: time to win your favor, you know what i mean.
Speaker 2: So that's the place I want you to get to,
Speaker 2: where you try to discern people, if somebody is nice
Speaker 2: to you, if if people are you know, being good
Speaker 2: to you, and all of these things, don't be naive.
Speaker 2: I'm not saying be super critical of everybody. I'm not
Speaker 2: saying go to the other extreme, but I'm saying, don't
Speaker 2: be naive. Don't be so innocent that you are being
Speaker 2: used by people that they're just trying to win or
Speaker 2: you over for their own benefit. But they just want
Speaker 2: to roll over you, They just want to stamp over you.
Speaker 2: I'm challenging you, as a child of God, you got
Speaker 2: to be wise as serpents as much as you are
Speaker 2: as innocent as a dow be wise sometimes. You know,
Speaker 2: in ministry, I've seeing people try to play the fool,
Speaker 2: try to you know, like they just say, oh, yeah,
Speaker 2: I have this need, I have that need come and
Speaker 2: support and all of these things. And I've been fooled myself, right,
Speaker 2: there have been people who are taking advantage because I
Speaker 2: wanted to bless them with all good intention, and then
Speaker 2: I realized that they just cheated and they just walked off.
Speaker 2: And that's why, you know, you need to get to
Speaker 2: that place where you know you don't have to make
Speaker 2: everybody happy, you know, and sometimes in the process you
Speaker 2: have to be firm and saying, you know what, I'm
Speaker 2: not going to be naive. I'm not going to let
Speaker 2: people ride over me. I'm going to be clear. You
Speaker 2: know you don't have good intentions. I don't have to
Speaker 2: try to make you feel happy. I'm going to be
Speaker 2: cautious because I am. I'm accountable to God for the
Speaker 2: money that I have, for the for the time that
Speaker 2: I have, and I cannot waste it on people who
Speaker 2: don't who I know clearly don't have good intentions. So
Speaker 2: I want you to discern, guys, get to that place
Speaker 2: where you discern. Discern. In the name of Jesus, I
Speaker 2: speak discernment over every single person under the sound of
Speaker 2: my voice in Jesus Name, I pray Amen, God bless you.
