record holder, aerospace engineer, life coach, evangelist, and founder of John
Gifta International. Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. I want
to start off by shouting from my ministry experience. One of the things is,
I've seen a lot of people give me a word of advice. Now,
for the most part, they mean well, and they may say certain
things that seem like a word of advice or word of wisdom, or sometimes
it looks like a good word from somebody's experience. At the same time,
sometimes it looks like maybe a warning or something that I need to be aware
of to protect myself, to watch over myself so that you know, I
don't fall into the pit that somebody else went into somebody made some mistake,
and you know all of those things. So there's a place for a warning
or a caution. There's a place for somebody giving a word of wisdom to
do something in a better fashion. All of those things are true, but
there's a thin line where you need to be careful from where the word is
coming, because you see, there is a very important aspect that I've shared
many times from the word of God. You see through the proverbs constantly it
says, you know, the wise listen to advice. In the multitude of
counselors, there is safety. So there is a place for listening to advice.
There is a place for listening to counsel There is a place for or
you know, being in a place we are humble enough to receive correction and
all of those things. There's there's no doubt about all of that stuff.
But there's also a place you need to understand that sometimes just because something sounds
like it's a word of wisdom, sometimes something sounds like a good idea or
a word of advice. Sometimes something sounds like a warning, but it may
not be coming from the right source. It may not be from God,
it may not be a godly wisdom. It may not be a godly counsel.
It may not be from the right source in itself. It may actually
be the exact opposite of what God wants you to do. So you need
to pay attention to this. You need to look at the intent. You
need to look at from where is this word coming from? Think about it.
I want to start up by sharing a scripture with you, and I
want to take this forward. And it is seen in Proverbs twenty six,
verse thirteen, and I'm reading to you from the Nulty version, and this
is what it says. The lazy person claims there is a life line on
the road. Yes, I'm sure there's a lion out there. See here,
you see, somebody is giving a word of warning. Somebody is saying,
hey, listen, don't go out there, don't go just stay here,
be in this place. You're safe, you're secured. Don't walk out
because there's a lion, even though there's not a lion. So they're lazy,
and they want you to be lazy, you know what I mean.
So it comes on the outside like a word of protection, a word of
you know, like the person really cares for you. Though it comes like,
oh my gosh, this person is saying to you be carefully. It's
like a warning or a caution. But you see the word is clearly saying
that a lazy person says this. In other words, somebody who doesn't want
to put in the work want to sit down and they feel guilty or they
feel, oh my goodness, how can I see somebody else do the work?
And so to keep the other person from doing it to suit themselves,
they don't want the other person to do so in that pretext, they're stopping
the other person by going out. So it looks like on the outside,
a word of you know, you know, a concern, a word of
you know, like you really care, the person really cares for you.
It looks like a word of warning. But then you see the intent.
It actually comes from a place of laziness. Are you getting what I'm saying?
It looks fine from the outside, and say, oh, maybe there's
a lion. So this person maybe saying the truth. So I need to
just stay back. But if you stayed back, what is going to happen
is you're not going to step into the fullness of what God wants you to
do. That's not the true thing. You get what I'm saying, you
have to look at the intent of what the other person is saying. No,
even in my ministry, so many times I've seen people who don't want
to do any work. Okay, let's not just say ministry. Even in
terms of YouTube or motivation or a comedy, all the different things that I
do. I've seen people who don't want to put in the work, who
don't want to do any heart anything. You know, they just want to,
you know, go to like what it says it and watch movies or
waste their time and do nothing productive with their life. You know, sometimes
they create a lot of rackets because they can't tolerate the fact that I'm doing
something, you know what I mean, So they just make up something just
because they feel like, oh my gosh, this person does that makes me
feel bad that I'm not doing anything, so I will stop that person also
from doing you know, a lot of times this is what happens. You
know, it comes out as something like a word of wisdom or a word
of warning, a word of caution, a word of advice. But the
truth is, it's the intent is it's coming from a place of laziness.
You need to be careful, or it could also come from a place of
fear. You know, sometimes one of the biggest things is fear can manifest
in the form of a very nice advice. You know, even a couple
of months ago, when I had to go somewhere to minister Okay, I
face a lot of opposition, I face a lot of challenges, and the
thing is this, you know, this was one of the persons saying this
to me, saying, you know what, you don't go there. There's
a lot of persecution out there. There's persecution out there. You know.
It's kind of like the way you know this word is saying, you know,
there's a line out there. There's a line out there, you know,
persecution out their persecution at so don't go. You know, it sounded
like it came from a place of what I say, like a like a
very good word of wisdom or an advice, or you know, a warning
or a caution. But in reality, it came from a place of fear.
You know, I don't want you to get into trouble, you know
what I mean, a place of fear. But when the Lord clearly spoke
to me and said I want you to go, I ended up going and
thousands of people were blessed, and even I was blessed, you know,
going there to minister to people. You see, thousands of people's blessings would
have been withheld if I had let somebody else's fear stop me. You get
what I'm saying today, I'm asking you to get to that when I'm not
saying, you know, don't listen to advice. I'm not saying, don't
pay attention to what people are saying. You know, when you receive a
word of advice, you know, take it and then pray about it and
look at it and see what the Lord is saying to you in your specific
case. And beyond that, if a load is saying, no, that's
not from me, this is not from my source. This is this is
just you know, the person's own feelings, their own emotions, their own
background, their own experience. Sometimes, you know, people may give you
advice without understanding what God is doing in your life, you know, without
understanding or having a perspective of what God is doing. Or they may not
have the full perspective, they may not have the full view. They have
certain experiences, they have a background, they have a limited knowledge and they
may use that to tell you this is the way to do when maybe God
has spoken something beyond that over your life and it's leading you in a way
that is beyond what they have as their base knowledge. So don't just listen
to what somebody is saying, but get to a place where Okay, this
person is saying there's a lion. This person is saying, don't go.
It seems like a warning and advice. But God, what are you saying?
You know, that's the best place to go. Where. Yes,
it's good to listen to advice, it's good to you know, listen to
godly wisdom and counsel and spiritual discernment and all of those things. But beyond
that, get to that place where you hear God's voice for yourself and say,
what does God want me to do? Where is God leading me?
What is God guiding me? Or take the step as God is instructing you
to do. So today I pray that you'll get to that place where you
get that wisdom from God to take the right steps today. Don't just follow
whatever people are saying. Don't just allow other people's words to just dictate your
life. Go beyond the intent, Go beyond to see is this coming from
the right place. Is this a real issue that I need to pay attention
to or is it just because they have their own issues and they're not dealt
through then that's why that's coming. Or is it something that is keeping me
from doing what God wants me to do? And I pray in the name
of Jesus that you will get to the place way you continue to do what
God has called you to do. Amen, God bless you. You've been
