Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John Gifta podcast. If you've been checking
Speaker 2: out a recent episodes, we've been doing a series of
Speaker 2: studies and lesson so we can take away from the
Speaker 2: incident of Jesus coming to storm. All right, so today,
Speaker 2: one of the scripture that I want to remind you
Speaker 2: is round in Matthew chapter eight, when we're talking about
Speaker 2: this incident. This is what it says in verse twenty
Speaker 2: four and verse twenty five. A fear storm struck the
Speaker 2: lake with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping, okay,
Speaker 2: and verse twenty five, the disciples went woke him up
Speaker 2: and shouting, Lord, save us, we are going to drown.
Speaker 2: I understand something here if you listen to my episode
Speaker 2: or sermon two days ago, I was talking to you
Speaker 2: about how this was a really deadly situation. We sometimes
Speaker 2: think it was more a matter of panic or exaggeration,
Speaker 2: like it's this a storm in a lake, what's the
Speaker 2: big deal about it? You know, Like I was really
Speaker 2: explaining that to you, how this was such a deadly situation.
Speaker 2: And if you understand your this, you know, recently I
Speaker 2: was traveling back by bus overnight and we were in
Speaker 2: an ac coach sleeper coach. You know, it was like
Speaker 2: what do you call as one of the best in
Speaker 2: terms of the quality of travel that we can have,
Speaker 2: you know, with the latest technology. But still I struggled
Speaker 2: to sleep, And be honest with you, I struggled to sleep.
Speaker 2: I could not sleep. I was struggling to get proper sleep,
Speaker 2: you know, And I was just imagining this incident where
Speaker 2: this storm in a lake, right, like if you see,
Speaker 2: even in normal circumstances, a boat is like, you know,
Speaker 2: always like shaking, shaking, you know, being tossed by the
Speaker 2: waves and all of that, and imagine a boat back
Speaker 2: in the day, like two thousand years ago, you know,
Speaker 2: in comparison to the technology of boats today, right, Jesus
Speaker 2: was able to sleep in the midst of that to
Speaker 2: a point where you see, the tossing of the waves
Speaker 2: did not wake them up, the noise did not wake
Speaker 2: them up. You know how the titles were frantically, you know,
Speaker 2: getting seen. Sometimes even if you're not disturbed by the
Speaker 2: incident that is happening or the circumstance, sometimes you just
Speaker 2: wake up saying like, oh, why is that a commotion?
Speaker 2: You know, why is everybody tensed? What is happening? Like
Speaker 2: you wake up? Like you look at Jesus. He was sleeping.
Speaker 2: He didn't wake up because of the waves. He didn't
Speaker 2: wake up because of the rain. He didn't wake up
Speaker 2: because of the storm. He didn't wake up because of
Speaker 2: the noise. He didn't wake up because of people panicking.
Speaker 2: You look at verse twenty five. The disciples went and
Speaker 2: woke him up. Think about this, what kind of place
Speaker 2: Jesus could have been, where he could be at a
Speaker 2: place of peace and rest in the midst of a storm,
Speaker 2: like as if nothing was happening, nothing wrong was going on.
Speaker 2: Can you imagine what kind of a level Jesus was
Speaker 2: able to operate? Now listen to this. You may say,
Speaker 2: oh he was God, Yes he was God, But I
Speaker 2: mean he walked on earth. He was also so understand
Speaker 2: something here. We are called to be like him right eventually,
Speaker 2: And you're a lesson to look at it and say, Lord,
Speaker 2: I want to be like you to a point where
Speaker 2: my circumstance, the storms of life, everything may come against me.
Speaker 2: Things may not be looking good, and there may be
Speaker 2: a hundred reasons why I should be panicking, or I
Speaker 2: should be worried or anxious. But can I be like
Speaker 2: you Jesus, who in the midst of everything he was
Speaker 2: able to sleep and be in a place of peace.
Speaker 2: Can you imagine the level of peace Jesus was at?
Speaker 2: Can you imagine the rhythm a peace at which Jesus
Speaker 2: was operating. Can we pray that we will operate in
Speaker 2: that kind of a level? Can we pray that You
Speaker 2: may say, John, you know this is a sermon that
Speaker 2: I heard so many times. Maybe or it's a lesson
Speaker 2: for you to introspect. There could be areas in your
Speaker 2: life where you're worried, you're having sleepless nights, you're not
Speaker 2: able to enjoy the And if it's that God wants
Speaker 2: to see, I want to tell you something. In life,
Speaker 2: you will have troubles. That's what Jesus said. In this world,
Speaker 2: you will have troubles. You cannot say I want a
Speaker 2: trouble free life. That's mission impossible. But in the midst
Speaker 2: of the trouble, in the midst of the storm, in
Speaker 2: the midst of the troubles, trials and tribulations, in the
Speaker 2: midst of the persecution, in the midst of everything that
Speaker 2: is coming against you, the unanswered prayers, the delays, the opposition,
Speaker 2: and all the questions people are raising against you, can
Speaker 2: you still be the place of peace like Jesus was
Speaker 2: able to be at a place of peace. Can you
Speaker 2: be in a place where you're not moved. You may
Speaker 2: be in the midst of chaos, but you are in
Speaker 2: a place where you are in the center of peace.
Speaker 2: The chaos does not control you. Things may be out
Speaker 2: of your control, but you can be the place of
Speaker 2: peace knowing that the King of Kings and the lot
Speaker 2: of lords is by your side, and he is in
Speaker 2: control of your life, even when it doesn't make sense,
Speaker 2: even if your situation looks, you know, like impossible, looks
Speaker 2: like it's permanent, it's never going to change. Can you
Speaker 2: be in a place of absolute trust and rest upon
Speaker 2: the Lord saying, you know what, God, I believe that
Speaker 2: you know what. I can be at a place of peace.
Speaker 2: You know, this morning, I was just meditating and I
Speaker 2: was just thinking of this, like when some people say, John,
Speaker 2: you know what, it's natural to be anxious. It's natural
Speaker 2: to be worried. Look at the circumstances. It's like this,
Speaker 2: there are a hundred reasons to why I have to
Speaker 2: be worried. You know, if there was no reason to
Speaker 2: be worried, the Bible would have never said do not worry.
Speaker 2: If there was no reason to you know, to for
Speaker 2: something to make you feel anxious. There would have been
Speaker 2: no reason on earth why God would have repeated and said,
Speaker 2: do not worry, do not be anxious for anything, do
Speaker 2: not fear. Why because you have to understand that you
Speaker 2: will have those circumstances or you will have things or
Speaker 2: reasons why you would be tempted to worry. But that
Speaker 2: is where you need apply the scripture and say you
Speaker 2: know what God your word says that pray about everything
Speaker 2: and worry about nothing. So can you be in that
Speaker 2: place like Jesus where he was in that rhythm of
Speaker 2: peace where nothing moved him. The chaos, the storm, nothing
Speaker 2: moved him. The commotion or people's panic, nothing moved him.
Speaker 2: People around you may be panicking, but you don't have
Speaker 2: to panic people around you, maybe s talking negatively, You
Speaker 2: don't have to do that. People around you, maybe in fear.
Speaker 2: You don't have to dwell in fear. You can be
Speaker 2: the one who's setting a new standard because you are
Speaker 2: operating in a place of absolute trust and peace and men.
Speaker 2: God bless you. Guys.
