0:45 Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta podcast. If you've been checking out a recent episodes, we've been doing a series of studies and lesson so we can take away from the incident of Jesus coming to storm. All right, so today, one of the scripture that I want to remind you is round in Matthew chapter eight, when we're talking about this incident. This is what it says in verse twenty four and verse twenty five. A fear storm struck the lake with waves breaking into the boat.

1:14 Speaker 2: But Jesus was sleeping, okay, and verse twenty five, the disciples went woke him up and shouting, Lord, save us, we are going to drown. I understand something here if you listen to my episode or sermon two days ago, I was talking to you about how this was a really deadly situation. We sometimes think it was more a matter of panic or exaggeration, like it's this a storm in a lake, what's the big deal about it? You know, Like I was really explaining that to you, how this was such a deadly situation.

1:48 Speaker 2: And if you understand your this, you know, recently I was traveling back by bus overnight and we were in an ac coach sleeper coach. You know, it was like what do you call as one of the best in terms of the quality of travel that we can have, you know, with the latest technology. But still I struggled to sleep, And be honest with you, I struggled to sleep. I could not sleep. I was struggling to get proper sleep, you know, And I was just imagining this incident where this storm in a lake, right, like if you see, even in normal circumstances, a boat is like, you know, always like shaking, shaking, you know, being tossed by the waves and all of that, and imagine a boat back in the day, like two thousand years ago, you know, in comparison to the technology of boats today, right, Jesus was able to sleep in the midst of that to a point where you see, the tossing of the waves did not wake them up, the noise did not wake them up.

2:57 Speaker 2: You know how the titles were frantically, you know, getting seen. Sometimes even if you're not disturbed by the incident that is happening or the circumstance, sometimes you just wake up saying like, oh, why is that a commotion? You know, why is everybody tensed? What is happening? Like you wake up? Like you look at Jesus. He was sleeping. He didn't wake up because of the waves. He didn't wake up because of the rain. He didn't wake up because of the storm. He didn't wake up because of the noise.

3:28 Speaker 2: He didn't wake up because of people panicking. You look at verse twenty five. The disciples went and woke him up. Think about this, what kind of place Jesus could have been, where he could be at a place of peace and rest in the midst of a storm, like as if nothing was happening, nothing wrong was going on. Can you imagine what kind of a level Jesus was able to operate? Now listen to this. You may say, oh he was God, Yes he was God, But I mean he walked on earth. He was also so understand something here.

4:02 Speaker 2: We are called to be like him right eventually, And you're a lesson to look at it and say, Lord, I want to be like you to a point where my circumstance, the storms of life, everything may come against me. Things may not be looking good, and there may be a hundred reasons why I should be panicking, or I should be worried or anxious. But can I be like you Jesus, who in the midst of everything he was able to sleep and be in a place of peace. Can you imagine the level of peace Jesus was at? Can you imagine the rhythm a peace at which Jesus was operating.

4:40 Speaker 2: Can we pray that we will operate in that kind of a level? Can we pray that You may say, John, you know this is a sermon that I heard so many times. Maybe or it's a lesson for you to introspect. There could be areas in your life where you're worried, you're having sleepless nights, you're not able to enjoy the And if it's that God wants to see, I want to tell you something. In life, you will have troubles. That's what Jesus said. In this world, you will have troubles. You cannot say I want a trouble free life.

5:08 Speaker 2: That's mission impossible. But in the midst of the trouble, in the midst of the storm, in the midst of the troubles, trials and tribulations, in the midst of the persecution, in the midst of everything that is coming against you, the unanswered prayers, the delays, the opposition, and all the questions people are raising against you, can you still be the place of peace like Jesus was able to be at a place of peace. Can you be in a place where you're not moved. You may be in the midst of chaos, but you are in a place where you are in the center of peace.

5:42 Speaker 2: The chaos does not control you. Things may be out of your control, but you can be the place of peace knowing that the King of Kings and the lot of lords is by your side, and he is in control of your life, even when it doesn't make sense, even if your situation looks, you know, like impossible, looks like it's permanent, it's never going to change. Can you be in a place of absolute trust and rest upon the Lord saying, you know what, God, I believe that you know what. I can be at a place of peace.

6:12 Speaker 2: You know, this morning, I was just meditating and I was just thinking of this, like when some people say, John, you know what, it's natural to be anxious. It's natural to be worried. Look at the circumstances. It's like this, there are a hundred reasons to why I have to be worried. You know, if there was no reason to be worried, the Bible would have never said do not worry. If there was no reason to you know, to for something to make you feel anxious. There would have been no reason on earth why God would have repeated and said, do not worry, do not be anxious for anything, do not fear.

6:49 Speaker 2: Why because you have to understand that you will have those circumstances or you will have things or reasons why you would be tempted to worry. But that is where you need apply the scripture and say you know what God your word says that pray about everything and worry about nothing. So can you be in that place like Jesus where he was in that rhythm of peace where nothing moved him. The chaos, the storm, nothing moved him. The commotion or people's panic, nothing moved him. People around you may be panicking, but you don't have to panic people around you, maybe s talking negatively, You don't have to do that.

7:30 Speaker 2: People around you, maybe in fear. You don't have to dwell in fear. You can be the one who's setting a new standard because you are operating in a place of absolute trust and peace and men. God bless you. Guys.
