Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John gift podcast. As you would have noticed from yesterday, we started this series of lessons that we can learn from the incident of Jesus coming to storm. There are so many things to un back and one of the things I was sharing with you yesterday was the understanding that you know, a lot of times we just say, oh my gosh, it's just a storm in a lake, what's the big deal about it? And we try to assume things without understanding the depth of the situation, the reality of the situation.
Speaker 2: I really challenge you to go back and study that, because I believe there's so much to learn about this lake. There's so much to learn because today, one of the things I want to remind you of, and I want to take this forward, is that when you look at the same incident, which is recorded across the gospels of Matthew Luke as well as in Mark, I mean Matthew eight, when you see verse twenty four, it says, suddenly a fierce storm struck the lake. Suddenly a fear storm struck the lake. Now today, one of the things I want to remind you is that when they started out, nothing was looking dangerous.
Speaker 2: Everything looked fine. Right. For instance, sometimes in life you feel like, oh my gosh, you know what, when I start the journey, everything looks good. You know, this is like a great thing to do. This is a great course that I always wanted to do, or this is a great person I wanted to marry and start my marriage or life or this relationship or or anything for that matter. When you start, it looks good. There's nothing scary about it. There's nothing like what you call us a red flag about it. And everything is fine right, And One of the things I shared with you yesterday was that how this Sea of Galley or the lake the lake is actually known as the Sea of Galiley.
Speaker 2: It's not a sea, but it's just this huge lake. And I spoke to you about the dimensions of the lake yesterday. But one of the things is that the topography or the geography of this lake was such that it was surrounded by these hills and mountains, because of which this charactery between the warm hair and the cold air, okay, used to cause sudden storms and fears hide Kane like situations. Okay. They used to be very, very scary, and they were devastating, all right, And they used to happen suddenly.
Speaker 2: They will come without any notice. And these fishermen where people who have been fishing here. They're professional people, they know all about it. But still they were scanned that they're going to be drowning because you see, understands something here. They knew the reality of the situation. They knew that this was not an ordinary thing. They knew that that this is going to kill them. Okay. But the best thing I wanted to understand is that in across every other situation of somebody crossing the lake and hitting the storm.
Speaker 2: The best case scenario was with these disciples that Jesus himself, the storm stopper, was with them in the storm. Okay, now just think I want to understand. I want you to remember the word suddenly a fear storm struck the lake. Now, what I want you to understand is a lot of times we think everything looks fine and we start going on autopilot, we start going by default mode. We're like, you know what, I can handle this, I can manage this. Need to depend on God more, you know what I mean, Like we we sometimes I mean, I'll be honest with you, I've made this mistake many times in my life and I keep going back.
Speaker 2: I need you to help me to depend on you because sometimes what happens is like, well, you know what one document Because I just want to let you know. Guys know right, I'm working as a as an engineer. I'm an aerospace engineer, so I work and I run the ministry. So when one document goes through and I'm like, oh, wow, I've done this job. You know. The second one, I start like, oh I can handle this, and then the Lord has to remind me or I have to come to that place like God, I need to depend on you again.
Speaker 2: I need you in every documented I write. I need you in every podcast episode that I record, you know, like, because these are sermons that I'm like, you know, I've been studying and I've been going and I'm like, God, Yes, these are powerful revelations. These are truths that have helped me, and I believe that they will help those who are listening. But help me to also be in a place where I'm dependent on you, that I'm not going into autopilot mode that you know what, Oh, I need to proveach a sermon and then that just takes something from my database of my you know, like fourteen years of ministry and just preach.
Speaker 2: No, I want to be dependent on you, Lord, I want powerful revelations that not only touched me, but will touch every single person listening. A challenge you to introspect. Are you on autopilot more? Or are you actually prepared for sudden storms in life? Because you never know when a psalm's going to come? You know, one of the things I keep telling about even Jesus, study what in in wine. If you see in John chapter two right, worse Tuesdays that Jesus and this disciples were invited to the wedding, and in verse three it says that the wine ran out.
Speaker 2: So when the wine ran out, they had a solution Jesus in the wedding. Like a lot of times, people think of God only after the wine runs out. They don't invite him before when everything is actually looking good. And here's the classic exact. The thing is this, here's the practical principle to remember. We never know when a storm is going to hit. You never know when you need a touch of a savior, the touch of the Master. You never know when you're going to hit a storm, when you're going to hit an iceberg in life, when you're going to need God to show up and show up.
Speaker 2: So my challenge to each one of you is be prepared. Be prepared because you never know when the storm, because it says it came in so suddenly. I want you to understand something here. You know, when you least expect it, suddenly things could go downhill and you need to be ready. You need to be prepared. You know, last year there was a moment I think I've shared this so many times, but I want to share a different perspective of this, when there was this master layer was happening across the organizations.
Speaker 2: And here's the thing, howbout you understand it. Everything looked fine in the organization that I was in, like to be honest with you, in fact, they gave us extra bonuses just two weeks before. Okay, they gave extra bonuses to everybody who's like, you know what, everything is so good, everything is so perfect, everything is like, there's no nothing to worry. And in two weeks everything went downhill in the chiffy. You know, everyone's like called in and said sorry, I mean, the organization is not doing well.
Speaker 2: Goodbye, you know, like it was a sudden joge, Like everything looked fine, but in a split second everything changed. You never know when suddenly everything would change, you know what I mean. Suddenly you would realize like, oh my gosh, this was my last Saturday year. Oh my goodness, like this this this person, when I met this person, this was my last goodbye. I didn't even realize that. You never know when a storm could hit. You never know how badly something could happen suddenly. I'm not I'm not asking you to live in fear, but I'm saying be prepared and for that you need to be in a place where you involve God and you're connected with Him all the time, and that's how you will be prepared to face every stormy life.
Speaker 2: Emmit, God, bless you guys.
