0:48 Speaker 2: the Soul with John Gifta podcast. All through this week

0:51 Speaker 2: we're looking at various lessons that we can take away

0:54 Speaker 2: from the life of Lot, predominantly around Genesis chapter nineteen.

0:58 Speaker 2: So I want you to understand this a moment where

1:01 Speaker 2: the Lord has seen the wickedness upon Sodom and Gomorrah,

1:04 Speaker 2: and there is a great destruction that's going to come

1:07 Speaker 2: upon this land. But there is Lot and his family

1:12 Speaker 2: who are in the Lord. Basically, if you ever to

1:15 Speaker 2: use the church terminology, they were in the faith they

1:18 Speaker 2: were in the Lord, and I'm going to look at

1:21 Speaker 2: something very important here right, This place was known for wickedness.

1:25 Speaker 2: We look at two different aspects the last two episodes

1:28 Speaker 2: that really recommend that you go back and check them.

1:31 Speaker 2: But today one of the look at one of the

1:33 Speaker 2: aspects here that when you look at Lot, right, he

1:38 Speaker 2: has entertained these two guests thinking they were just normal men,

1:41 Speaker 2: but he didn't realize that they were actually angels. And

1:45 Speaker 2: long story made short when you look at verse twelve,

1:50 Speaker 2: the angels talk to Lot, okay, and the angels are

1:54 Speaker 2: saying to them, get out of this place, your sons

1:57 Speaker 2: in laws, your daughters, or anyone else, for this place

2:02 Speaker 2: is going to be destroyed completely. For the outcry against

2:06 Speaker 2: this place is so great is that it has reached

2:09 Speaker 2: a lord and there's going to be a great destruction.

2:12 Speaker 2: I'm just paraphracing so that you will understand the context

2:15 Speaker 2: of this. So I wanted to understand something here. Right

2:19 Speaker 2: when the two men are speaking to Lot, just after

2:24 Speaker 2: there was a commotion where all the wicked men in

2:27 Speaker 2: the city wanted to come and attack the men, and

2:31 Speaker 2: Lot stood up for them. At the same time, there's

2:34 Speaker 2: a little bit of drama that happens, and then the

2:37 Speaker 2: angels are speaking to a Lot and saying these things. Okay,

2:41 Speaker 2: I wanted to look at Lot's response in verse fourteen.

2:45 Speaker 2: So Lot rushed out to tell his daughter's fiancees quick

2:50 Speaker 2: get out of the city. The lord is about to

2:53 Speaker 2: destroy it. Okay, We're going to look at the next

2:57 Speaker 2: aspect in the next episode, but I want to focus

2:59 Speaker 2: on important aspect here.

3:01 Speaker 1: Right.

3:01 Speaker 2: Lot is in a very wicked place, and he stayed

3:04 Speaker 2: here for a long time, right to a point where

3:07 Speaker 2: his daughters are marrying men from the same city, because

3:10 Speaker 2: that's how these fiancees are actually in the city, so

3:15 Speaker 2: they've stayed here for quite some time. Now, I want

3:18 Speaker 2: you to just understand something here. We're living in a

3:21 Speaker 2: world where everything is being redefined. We look at how

3:26 Speaker 2: people want to redefine things. This is fine, this is

3:29 Speaker 2: not fine, this is okay. Even if something is an

3:31 Speaker 2: abomination in the sight of God, we want to redefine

3:35 Speaker 2: and say no, it's okay. Culturally it's acceptable now. So

3:38 Speaker 2: we live in a world where sometimes we can be

3:42 Speaker 2: so bombarded with all these new definitions and new standards

3:46 Speaker 2: and new principles that sometimes our conscience can be choked.

3:54 Speaker 2: Sometimes we can lose that sensitivity to discern spirituality, or

4:03 Speaker 2: we can lose the sensitivity to discern the voice of

4:08 Speaker 2: the Lord. But here you see, even though Lot was

4:13 Speaker 2: in a wicked place, even though Lot was in the

4:16 Speaker 2: midst of wickedness, when the angels came and gave a word,

4:22 Speaker 2: the scripture says he rushed when he received the word,

4:26 Speaker 2: he rushed. I want you to understand the word rushed.

4:29 Speaker 2: See if somebody is taking a word seriously, they will run.

4:33 Speaker 2: They will rush. If I say, oh, there's a fire there,

4:36 Speaker 2: run run, run, or you know there's a danger, to

4:39 Speaker 2: run and tell this person you will run. That shows

4:43 Speaker 2: that you take this word seriously. That shows that you

4:46 Speaker 2: believe in that word. If he just walked in went,

4:50 Speaker 2: if he just said, okay, let me see this tomorrow,

4:53 Speaker 2: then we can say maybe he didn't take it seriously.

4:56 Speaker 2: But you realize that Lot took the word seriously, which

5:00 Speaker 2: showed that even though Lot was in a wicked place,

5:06 Speaker 2: his spiritual senses were still in place. He was able

5:09 Speaker 2: to discern correctly. He had that spiritual discernment even though

5:15 Speaker 2: he was in the midst of such wickedness. Today, I

5:20 Speaker 2: want to ask you this question. We're in no wicked world.

5:23 Speaker 2: We're in a world where there's so many things that

5:26 Speaker 2: are wrong in the sight of the Lord, but are

5:28 Speaker 2: being defined as everything is okay. You may be in

5:32 Speaker 2: a place where you're feeling like journed. Everything is being redefined,

5:37 Speaker 2: everything is like acceptable, even though we know that's not

5:40 Speaker 2: the way it's supposed to be. I just feel like

5:42 Speaker 2: blending in. I want to just go with the flow,

5:45 Speaker 2: go with the crowd, you know. I want to keep

5:47 Speaker 2: people happy. I want to do this, I want to

5:49 Speaker 2: do that. But in all of that, don't miss out

5:54 Speaker 2: on being sensitive to the voice of the spirit. Don't

5:58 Speaker 2: miss out on your spiritual discernment. One of the best

6:03 Speaker 2: lessons to learn from Lot in this sense is that

6:07 Speaker 2: even though he was in the midst of wickedness, he

6:10 Speaker 2: had not lost his sensitivity to the spirit filled word

6:15 Speaker 2: of the Lord. See. I wanted to understand there was

6:18 Speaker 2: a moment where I was working in a job that

6:21 Speaker 2: I really loved, and there came a point where every

6:26 Speaker 2: morning I would wake up thinking about the job like

6:28 Speaker 2: I was so excited. I enjoyed the job, I enjoyed

6:31 Speaker 2: the work I had to do. And I also loved

6:33 Speaker 2: the company. The people there were so good. Everything was

6:36 Speaker 2: so good. But in the midst of that, what happened

6:41 Speaker 2: was the ministry kind of took a hit because the

6:45 Speaker 2: ministry had started becoming more like a default thing, like, oh,

6:48 Speaker 2: I need to post something, just post something this it

6:52 Speaker 2: E went through that mode, you know, like posting some

6:54 Speaker 2: video for the day just to get.

6:56 Speaker 1: It done, and.

6:59 Speaker 2: My spiritual senses started getting choked. But he didn't pay

7:02 Speaker 2: attention at that moment. I was in the midst of

7:06 Speaker 2: that comfort where oh I got a good job, I

7:09 Speaker 2: got a good manager, I got good friends at work.

7:11 Speaker 2: I started liking all of the work that I was doing.

7:14 Speaker 2: I was so comfortable in all of that that the

7:19 Speaker 2: spiritual side of me started getting choked. But sadly I

7:23 Speaker 2: didn't even pay attention to it. I didn't even realize it.

7:28 Speaker 2: I realized like I would wake up in the morning

7:30 Speaker 2: thinking about the work I should do. I would drive

7:32 Speaker 2: back or write to my office thinking about the friends

7:35 Speaker 2: I'm going to meet, what jokes I'm going to crack.

7:38 Speaker 2: I would think about all of that, but not think

7:41 Speaker 2: about the most important aspect of what the Lord wanted

7:44 Speaker 2: to speak to me. What was God saying to me

7:47 Speaker 2: about the season? What was God warning me about I

7:51 Speaker 2: didn't pay attention. And in fact, two weeks before the

7:56 Speaker 2: major layoff that happened for me there, God showed me

8:00 Speaker 2: in a vision that I was going to lose my

8:02 Speaker 2: job suddenly. But I was so accustomed to this place of, Oh,

8:08 Speaker 2: everything is fine, I'm my manager's paid, I have this

8:11 Speaker 2: beautiful job, I have managing eight projects. I love this company.

8:16 Speaker 2: I love this so much that in the midst of

8:19 Speaker 2: all of that, I did not even realize I had

8:24 Speaker 2: lost that sensitivity to the spirit. When God warned me

8:27 Speaker 2: that I'm going to lose the job, I didn't even

8:29 Speaker 2: realize or didn't pay attention to it, because that's how

8:34 Speaker 2: sometimes we can miss the mark. And then I realized,

8:38 Speaker 2: you look at a lot, even though he was in

8:41 Speaker 2: such a wicked place, he had not lost this sensitivity

8:44 Speaker 2: to the spirit, whereas I had lost that sensitivity to

8:49 Speaker 2: the spirit. And that was a week up call for me.

8:53 Speaker 2: Wherever I go, gard, I may be in the midst

8:55 Speaker 2: of wickedness. I may be in the midst of a

8:58 Speaker 2: lot of wrongful things around me. See I'm not saying,

9:02 Speaker 2: you know, you stay away from people. Act like you

9:05 Speaker 2: know with this earlier than our attitude. I'm not saying

9:07 Speaker 2: that you blend in talk to people, be the light

9:09 Speaker 2: in the darkness. All of that is great, but not

9:12 Speaker 2: to the point where you compromise. Not to the point

9:16 Speaker 2: where you allow those principles, those opinions, and those advices

9:21 Speaker 2: to choke what God is saying, because that is the

9:26 Speaker 2: most dangerous place to be. And I challenge you, if

9:29 Speaker 2: you want to take anything away from the life of Lot,

9:32 Speaker 2: this is the lesson in the midst of the wickedness.
