Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John gift Up podcast, where I want to talk to you today from a passage I'm sure you may be very familiar with, but I just wanted to mind you as we step into twenty twenty five and you want to see God do the new things, the amazing things that God wants to do in a th real life. I want to start with Isaiah forty three, verse eighteen. You might be knowing this by heart, which says forget the former things, and I want to specifically remind you from the message version.
Speaker 2: And I'm going to talk about this for the next couple of days as well. So the first thing I want to talk about is the fact if you look at the message version, it says, forget about what's happened, don't keep going over old history. Forget about what's happened. Don't keep going over old history. Y'es the thing I want you to understand, right, like many times when we step into something new, maybe a new year, we still have a mindset of what happened in the past, or we still look at what happened in the past.
Speaker 2: We always have the past as our reference. This is what happened for me. I tried this, it didn't work out. I went here, but it was a bad experience for me. So so we tend to have the thing that happened in the past as our reference point as we step into a new year. For example, when we think about some when some when you tell somebody you know, oh, you're good in singing, why don't you try, and they immediately go back to something happened in the that happened in the past, where they tried singing and they didn't do a good job and they failed miserably.
Speaker 2: You know, you get what I'm saying, right, Like, they have something that happened in the past as a bad example, and they keep looking at that. And that's the why the Bible goes on to say, you know, forget the former things. Forget about what's happened, you know, whatever happened happened, you know, don't don't keep looking at that as your reference point. That should not be a reference point today. That's the challenge I want to tell you, you know, you know, like if you're saying, you know, John, you know, every time I get into relationship, things just go bad.
Speaker 2: You know, Yes, you may have bad experiences. Maybe you can learn from them that that's a different topic altogether to talk about. But you know, don't look at what happened in the past, the past failures, the past disappointments, the past hurts. Don't let that lead you to a point of you know, you know, like I don't want to expect anything new because I don't know, John, I've been disappointed enough. I don't have any more expectations now today, when you step into twenty twenty four, the first thing I want to tell you is, forget about what's happened.
Speaker 2: Yes, you failed multiple times, but it's okay. Forget about it, you know, don't keep that as your reference point. You know, this is a new day, This is a new year. God's mercies are new every morning. God's plans for your life is going to go from brighter to brighter. That's what the Bible says. The part of the right just gets brighter and brighter. So I want you to have that faith and assurance that you know what. God made no mistake in your life. God did not call you to be a failure. He has called you to fulfill a purpose which only you and only you can fulfill.
Speaker 2: So today I want you to have that perspective as you step into the new year, that you will forget the former things, forget whatever happened. You may be hurt, you may have bad baggages from the past. Those people walked out and it's unfair. I understand that, But don't let that dictate the rest of your life. Don't allow a season of disappointment to become a lifetime of regret where you're constantly sitting in that regret of oh my goodness, I wish this didn't happen. Oh I wish I had tried this or I should have.
Speaker 2: You know, whatever happened happened. Don't allow that season, the bitter season, to define the better part of your life. God has something bigger. God has something better. God has something that's going to exceed your expectations. So today, with that challenge, I want you to step into the new here where you don't allow the things in the past to define your actions for today. I'm going to talk about this a little bit more that days to come, and I will catch up with you in the next episode. God bless you.
