1:00 Speaker 2: passage found in Isaiah chapter forty three, verse eighteen. Yesterday

1:09 Speaker 2: forget about what's happened. You know, don't allow a bitter

1:14 Speaker 2: season of your life to define the better part of

1:18 Speaker 2: your life. You know, you need to get to that

1:20 Speaker 2: place where you come to terms with the fact that, yes,

1:24 Speaker 2: whatever happened happened. But I believe that God's still got

1:27 Speaker 2: a plan for my life, and I'm going to look

1:29 Speaker 2: up to the better things that he has in store

1:31 Speaker 2: for me, and I'm not going to dwell in the

1:33 Speaker 2: things of the past. I want to go on and

1:36 Speaker 2: talk about another aspect because I'm talking to you from

1:38 Speaker 2: the Message version, and I believe there's so much of

1:41 Speaker 2: depth to this because this part is something I really

1:44 Speaker 2: really love. It says, don't keep going over old history.

1:48 Speaker 2: This is Isaiah forty three, verse eighteen from the Message version,

1:52 Speaker 2: don't keep going over old history. No, I want to

1:56 Speaker 2: tell you something because there are these seasons in my life,

1:59 Speaker 2: or there are moments in my life. I've gone through

2:01 Speaker 2: this where, you know, the minute I wake up, when

2:03 Speaker 2: I'm having a bitterness towards something or someone, or when

2:06 Speaker 2: I'm hurt or frustrated, what happens the minute I wake up,

2:09 Speaker 2: you know my thoughts are filled with that bitterness. You know,

2:12 Speaker 2: I keep going all over the hurt, the disappointments. You

2:16 Speaker 2: know what somebody said, what they did, or what happened,

2:18 Speaker 2: what didn't work out. You know, that tendency to constantly

2:22 Speaker 2: go after that old history of whatever didn't work out

2:26 Speaker 2: or the things that didn't happen the way it's supposed

2:28 Speaker 2: to happen. And today this is a small challenge I

2:31 Speaker 2: want to give you where I want you to check

2:33 Speaker 2: whether the minute you wake up in the morning, when

2:36 Speaker 2: you are in your normal tone or of going about

2:40 Speaker 2: your life, what is the tape recorder in your mind

2:43 Speaker 2: talking about or thinking about? Is it something where you're

2:46 Speaker 2: constantly going after that old history history of the hurt,

2:50 Speaker 2: the disappointments, the people who betrayed you, the people who

2:53 Speaker 2: walked out of your life, the people who took advantage

2:55 Speaker 2: of you, or the things that you tried and didn't

2:57 Speaker 2: work out for you, the time you were embarrassed, time

3:00 Speaker 2: you were going through that so much of a hurt

3:02 Speaker 2: and nobody was there to help you. And you're saying, John,

3:06 Speaker 2: how can I ever forget about it? But I want

3:09 Speaker 2: to challenge you today, if you want to move into

3:11 Speaker 2: the new things that God wants to give you, you need

3:13 Speaker 2: to let go of that old history that's replaying in

3:17 Speaker 2: your mind. Maybe you're thinking about something that happened a

3:21 Speaker 2: long time ago. You don't have to worry about it today.

3:24 Speaker 2: You can move on with your life. The other day,

3:27 Speaker 2: I heard this story of a person who went and

3:30 Speaker 2: shared with the pastor saying, you know what, Oh, this

3:32 Speaker 2: person hurt me, this person disappointed me. This is so bad.

3:36 Speaker 2: Life is so unfair, to the point where the pastor

3:39 Speaker 2: went on to think that, you know, maybe this man

3:40 Speaker 2: just went through this a while ago. And then he

3:43 Speaker 2: went to ask him when did this happen, and the

3:47 Speaker 2: man said, this happened twenty seven years ago. Twenty seven

3:51 Speaker 2: years ago. You know, here's the thing, right if you

3:57 Speaker 2: if we all go through seasons of hurts and disappointments,

3:59 Speaker 2: we need to go through the process of grieving the loss,

4:02 Speaker 2: grieving and you know, getting the healing that needs to happen.

4:06 Speaker 2: All of that is true. I'm not denying that, but

4:10 Speaker 2: you know what happens is it's not something that you're like,

4:13 Speaker 2: you know what, this is what happened, and the rest

4:16 Speaker 2: of my life is bad because of what somebody did

4:19 Speaker 2: or something happened a long time ago. Today, my challenge

4:23 Speaker 2: is there is a point where you need to stop

4:27 Speaker 2: replaying that in your mind, going over that whole history.

4:33 Speaker 2: Probably the other person moved on twenty seven years ago,

4:36 Speaker 2: like and is not even thinking of you. You know, like,

4:40 Speaker 2: what do you want to waste your emotional energy, waste

4:44 Speaker 2: your mental capacity thinking about somebody who doesn't even think

4:49 Speaker 2: about you? You know what I mean? What I want

4:51 Speaker 2: you to understand today is yes, what it did was bad,

4:55 Speaker 2: what happened was hurtful, but you don't have to allow

4:58 Speaker 2: that to dictate the rest of your lif life. And

5:01 Speaker 2: that's the challenge I want to leave with each one

5:03 Speaker 2: of you today as we step into this new year.

5:06 Speaker 2: Have this mindset, have this perspective where you have a heart,

5:09 Speaker 2: with all your mind, with all your soul. You want

5:11 Speaker 2: to say, God, I want you to help me. I

5:15 Speaker 2: want you to help me to stop thinking about this

5:19 Speaker 2: over and over and over again. And I want you

5:22 Speaker 2: to help me to start expecting the new things that

5:26 Speaker 2: you want to do in and through my life. And

5:29 Speaker 2: I want to just release this word a prayer over

5:30 Speaker 2: you in the name of Jesus. If you are watching
