Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul of John Gifta Podcast, and I'm so grateful
Speaker 2: to be with you. In this section, where I've been
Speaker 2: talking about various aspects, we regard to a very familiar
Speaker 2: passage found in Isaiah chapter forty three, verse eighteen. Yesterday
Speaker 2: I spoke to you on the aspect of you know,
Speaker 2: forget about what's happened. You know, don't allow a bitter
Speaker 2: season of your life to define the better part of
Speaker 2: your life. You know, you need to get to that
Speaker 2: place where you come to terms with the fact that, yes,
Speaker 2: whatever happened happened. But I believe that God's still got
Speaker 2: a plan for my life, and I'm going to look
Speaker 2: up to the better things that he has in store
Speaker 2: for me, and I'm not going to dwell in the
Speaker 2: things of the past. I want to go on and
Speaker 2: talk about another aspect because I'm talking to you from
Speaker 2: the Message version, and I believe there's so much of
Speaker 2: depth to this because this part is something I really
Speaker 2: really love. It says, don't keep going over old history.
Speaker 2: This is Isaiah forty three, verse eighteen from the Message version,
Speaker 2: don't keep going over old history. No, I want to
Speaker 2: tell you something because there are these seasons in my life,
Speaker 2: or there are moments in my life. I've gone through
Speaker 2: this where, you know, the minute I wake up, when
Speaker 2: I'm having a bitterness towards something or someone, or when
Speaker 2: I'm hurt or frustrated, what happens the minute I wake up,
Speaker 2: you know my thoughts are filled with that bitterness. You know,
Speaker 2: I keep going all over the hurt, the disappointments. You
Speaker 2: know what somebody said, what they did, or what happened,
Speaker 2: what didn't work out. You know, that tendency to constantly
Speaker 2: go after that old history of whatever didn't work out
Speaker 2: or the things that didn't happen the way it's supposed
Speaker 2: to happen. And today this is a small challenge I
Speaker 2: want to give you where I want you to check
Speaker 2: whether the minute you wake up in the morning, when
Speaker 2: you are in your normal tone or of going about
Speaker 2: your life, what is the tape recorder in your mind
Speaker 2: talking about or thinking about? Is it something where you're
Speaker 2: constantly going after that old history history of the hurt,
Speaker 2: the disappointments, the people who betrayed you, the people who
Speaker 2: walked out of your life, the people who took advantage
Speaker 2: of you, or the things that you tried and didn't
Speaker 2: work out for you, the time you were embarrassed, time
Speaker 2: you were going through that so much of a hurt
Speaker 2: and nobody was there to help you. And you're saying, John,
Speaker 2: how can I ever forget about it? But I want
Speaker 2: to challenge you today, if you want to move into
Speaker 2: the new things that God wants to give you, you need
Speaker 2: to let go of that old history that's replaying in
Speaker 2: your mind. Maybe you're thinking about something that happened a
Speaker 2: long time ago. You don't have to worry about it today.
Speaker 2: You can move on with your life. The other day,
Speaker 2: I heard this story of a person who went and
Speaker 2: shared with the pastor saying, you know what, Oh, this
Speaker 2: person hurt me, this person disappointed me. This is so bad.
Speaker 2: Life is so unfair, to the point where the pastor
Speaker 2: went on to think that, you know, maybe this man
Speaker 2: just went through this a while ago. And then he
Speaker 2: went to ask him when did this happen, and the
Speaker 2: man said, this happened twenty seven years ago. Twenty seven
Speaker 2: years ago. You know, here's the thing, right if you
Speaker 2: if we all go through seasons of hurts and disappointments,
Speaker 2: we need to go through the process of grieving the loss,
Speaker 2: grieving and you know, getting the healing that needs to happen.
Speaker 2: All of that is true. I'm not denying that, but
Speaker 2: you know what happens is it's not something that you're like,
Speaker 2: you know what, this is what happened, and the rest
Speaker 2: of my life is bad because of what somebody did
Speaker 2: or something happened a long time ago. Today, my challenge
Speaker 2: is there is a point where you need to stop
Speaker 2: replaying that in your mind, going over that whole history.
Speaker 2: Probably the other person moved on twenty seven years ago,
Speaker 2: like and is not even thinking of you. You know, like,
Speaker 2: what do you want to waste your emotional energy, waste
Speaker 2: your mental capacity thinking about somebody who doesn't even think
Speaker 2: about you? You know what I mean? What I want
Speaker 2: you to understand today is yes, what it did was bad,
Speaker 2: what happened was hurtful, but you don't have to allow
Speaker 2: that to dictate the rest of your lif life. And
Speaker 2: that's the challenge I want to leave with each one
Speaker 2: of you today as we step into this new year.
Speaker 2: Have this mindset, have this perspective where you have a heart,
Speaker 2: with all your mind, with all your soul. You want
Speaker 2: to say, God, I want you to help me. I
Speaker 2: want you to help me to stop thinking about this
Speaker 2: over and over and over again. And I want you
Speaker 2: to help me to start expecting the new things that
Speaker 2: you want to do in and through my life. And
Speaker 2: I want to just release this word a prayer over
Speaker 2: you in the name of Jesus. If you are watching
Speaker 2: or listening to this from anywhere and we are constantly
Speaker 2: thinking about a negative history from the past and you're
Speaker 2: not able to think and move forward in your life,
Speaker 2: I pray that you will experience deliberance right now. In
Speaker 2: the name of Jesus Christ I pray Amen, God bless you.
