Walking in Love – Part 6: Love Without Hidden Agenda | John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
In Part 6 of the Walking in Love series, we explore a deeper layer of unconditional love — loving without hidden agendas.True CHRIST-like love is not transactional. It does not love in order to gain influence, approval, control, or recognition. GOD’s love toward us was never based on what He could gain from us — it was freely given.
In a world where relationships are often driven by benefit, expectations, or emotional return, Scripture calls believers to a higher standard — to love with sincerity and purity of heart.
This episode challenges you to reflect on your motives:
Do you love people for who they are — or for what they can give you?

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, and welcome to this edition of the Fuel for the Soul with John GIFTAP podcast. And as you would have seen that, we are doing a series on how you can practically walk in love. And all through last week I was doing the PA and sharing a lot of things that were like the foundation for us to understand about the kind of love that we are called to operate in. And I challenged you that it's not something that you just do once in a while. It's not something that's just put on once in a while, but it's supposed to be a life study or you and I need to walk in love.
Speaker 2: And also I shared an important important principle on Friday that I want you to go back and listen where I shared that you and I need to operate in unconditional love. Right Because I set out so many things, I really challenge you to go back and listen to them. But today onwards, we're going to look at some of the practical ways that you can actually operate in unconditional love. And I really challenge you to introspect and pray with the part of the Holy Spirit that you will look at areas in your life.
Speaker 2: Relationships in your life may be in your workplace, your school, your family or church, community, neighborhood, anywhere where you are not operating in unconditional love, and I want you to look at them through these lenses. And as your journey, we want to make sure that God will speak to you, minister to you, convict you in areas that need to be convicted, and help you live the life that you're called to live. So today one of the aspects I want to quickly start off is to remind you that unconditional love should have no agenda.
Speaker 2: It should not have any other agenda. I remember there's a moment where the minute it's a birthday, okay, when I was in college, I remember this, especially over the boarding and all of that, people would flock from everywhere. Oh, happy birthday, Happy birthday. But the truth of the matter, you realize is that some of them never care about you, But the reason why they wished you was only because they wanted something from you. They wanted the treat. They would come out and say, hey, I was your classmate, your benchmate, your roommate, your crush mat, your this made your that mate.
Speaker 2: They would say all sorts of flattery things, not because they care about you, but just because they wanted to treat from you. I still remember there was a moment when I was in college. So I was doing my aerospace engineering program in my third year, I took I think thirteen groups of people for giving them treat on my birthday, okay, thirteen. I was like, Wow, this was my twentieth birthday, I guess, I don't know, twenty eighth or nineteenth, I don't remember. I think twenty seth if I'm not wrong.
Speaker 2: So I remember that and I was like, oh, my gosh, you know what, it's a special, and so many people are so dear to me, and without any discernment, I was like, you know, taking them for giving them treat for my birthday. And what astonished me was some of those very people that I took for my birthday because they were like, you know, so nice and saying all these fancy words and all of this stuff. I realized some of them they didn't even look at me after that, didn't even talk to me. They would ignore me.
Speaker 2: And then I raised like, oh my gosh, so all that flattery was just because they wanted to treat from me, you know what I mean. I learned things the hard way. But here's the thing I want you to understand, right, this is an important principle you need to look at. I'm going to calle a couple of scriptures and I want to come back to the point. First Corinthians, chapter thirteen, verse five. It says loo should not be self seeking. You should not you know, unconditional love. He's not self seeking. It's not about what it can gain.
Speaker 2: It's not about like, oh, you know what I wish him, or I'm nice to this person I can get something. I remember there was a moment when a boy came to me and said, you know, I want you to use your influence and get this girl for me, and I said I can't do that. And then he said, you're not letting me follow the teachings of Jesus. I said, what do you mean. He said, Jesus said love your neighbor. I'm supposed to love this girl, and you're not letting me do that. You know, he had this agenda. He had this whole self seeking like trying to you know, trying to be nice to me, trying to get my favoritism.
Speaker 2: So try to say, oh, John, you're this your that, your influential and all of that just to get my attention so that he can use me as au pon to get something else. So loo should not be self seeking. Yeah, unconditional love should not be self seeking. When you also look at Philippines two verse four, it says something very important that you're not under call to just look into your own interests, but each of you should look into the interests of others. And the one most cripture I want to show you is Romans chapter twelve, verse nine, which says that love should be sincere.
Speaker 2: I want you to get these into your spirit. Guys, is your love sincere or is it having a secret agenda? Are you showing true love to people? Are you really operating from the place of love or are you having some agendas? Are you having something in the back of your mind? Are you having something and you're trying to cover things up. You're trying to put in a show that you're very caring and loving and you're trying to exploit somebody that is not unconditional love. If you're saying, oh, you know what, I am nice to this person so that this person will do this for me.
Speaker 2: I am going the extra mile for this person because I want this person to help me in something else, which you're not showing them right away or telling them about it right away. See, I wanted you to understand. You would have seen this in movies, and you know you're seeing this in a lot of shows, but a lot of people are actually doing this in their life. And today this is a wake up call for you. If you are in some way having a secret agenda, if you're not operating people operating in unconditional love, if you're not having sincere love, if you're not putting other people's interests over yourself if you're not actually you know, if you're self seeking in your sense of showing love to people.
Speaker 2: I challenge you let this be your reminder and a wake up call that you will get back on track, get back to unconditional love and love and walk with people and care for people unconditionally, and then you'll see a change in your life. Amen, I really challenge you to stay connected for the next couple of days because there's so much to unpack and learn, and I believe that these practical tips will help you as you make the journey in getting better at your relationships that God has blessed you with Immen, God.
