Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hey, are you in a place in your life where you're asking, why God, why? Why aren't you answering my prayers? Or you're feeling like, why did this happen? Why didn't this show up in the way I was expecting? Why didn't God answer my prayers? And today I want to challenge something very important with you. I'm going to talk to you from the story of Ruth in the scripture, where I'm just going to paraphrase the story just to give you context in case you're new to this old story. But here's the thing, there's an incident happening Where there was a man called Elimelech.
Speaker 2: Okay. He and his wife Naomi had two sons. And when there was a famine in the land, they left the place and they went to a foreign land where he died.
Speaker 1: Okay.
Speaker 2: And the two sons, they eventually died. married women in the same place. One married a lady who you might know, who's very familiar. The name of the book itself, that's Ruth. Okay. And then both of these sister-in-laws or daughter-in-laws lost their husbands. So it was at the end of the story, you realize that Naomi and Ruth are by themselves because even the other sister-in-law or daughter-in-law leaves and That is Orpah. And so Naomi and Ruth are by themselves. And when you look at the storyline, it feels very unfair.
Speaker 2: Why did all these men die? You know, it feels very unfair. So long story made short, Naomi and Ruth get back to Bethlehem. And that's where Ruth ends up meeting Boaz. And she ends up being in the generational line of Jesus Christ. Now, I want you to understand when you look at each piece of the puzzle, it doesn't make sense. You look at the famine, you don't realize why the famine had to occur. You don't understand why all the three men in the family died. You don't understand why Ruth and... Naomi had to leave the place and go back to Bethlehem you don't understand why Orpah left them on the way you don't understand why all of these bits and pieces that leaves them in a very bad place where even Naomi says don't call me Naomi call me Mara which means bitterness she's in such a bitter state right now so you don't if you look at each piece of the puzzle it doesn't make sense See, when you take any jigsaw puzzle, right, like you try to make sense of any individual piece of the puzzle, it never makes sense.
Speaker 2: Only when you put them all together, it makes perfect sense. This is what I want you to understand. Today, when you look at your life, individual pieces may not make sense. Why did I have that layoff? Why did I go through that? unfair situation? Why that wrong accusation? Why did these people ditch me out? Why did this thing happen? Why did this sickness, you know, come into this particular realm? Or you're looking at your life and you're feeling like, why did God allow this to happen? You may not be able to make sense.
Speaker 2: Why this thing? Why that thing? But I want you to understand, when you're unable to understand individual pieces, try to say, God, help me to have the spirit of discernment to look at the big picture. Because when you look at the big picture, you realize that if the famine had never happened, the family would have never left the land. If the family had never left the land, they would have never been acquainted with Ruth. If all the three men in the family hadn't died already, Naomi and Ruth would have never gotten back to Bethlehem.
Speaker 2: And if Harper hadn't left them, there would be another competition for Boaz between Ruth and Harper. So everything doesn't make sense if you look at only the peace. But when you put them together, you realize each individual piece made sense. Only that connected Ruth to be in the generational line of Jesus Christ. See, everything from the famine to the loss to the abandonment for the migration back to Bethlehem and eventually being connected with Boaz, everything was intertwined. And when you look at the big picture, you realize that God was sovereignly in control, even when you don't understand individual pieces.
Speaker 2: God is in control of your life even when you can't understand why didn't he allow this to happen? Why did he allow you to go through that? Why didn't he answer your prayers? Can you imagine? Maybe they could have prayed and asked the Lord, why did you allow this husband to die? Or why did you allow the two daughter-in-laws to lose their husbands? Maybe they could have prayed.
Speaker 1: Maybe.
Speaker 2: Ruth and Naomi could have also been in that place like, why did Orpah leave eventually? You may be in a place where you're feeling like, why did these people ditch me? Why didn't this thing work out in my life? Why do I look like a failure? But I want you to understand, when you look at the big picture, you will realize that God was in control through every detail of your life. Even when it makes sense or it doesn't make sense, God is in control. See, this is the word I want you to be encouraged with.
Speaker 2: That when you are asking, why Lord, why? When you are crying, why Lord, why? When you are praying, why Lord, why? God is saying this to you. Stop looking at the individual piece of the puzzle and start looking at the big picture because I have a good plan for your life. I know what I'm doing. I am orchestrating every detail of your life and I know how to make all things beautiful Eventually, God will do it in your life. God is faithful. So today I want you to be encouraged. You know, when I was going through seasons of setbacks in my life, it never made sense.
Speaker 2: God, why the delay? Why didn't you show up in this area? I was praying so much, but why didn't you do this? But can I tell you something? When I look back over the shoulders, I realize that those delays, those setbacks were so much needed for me to go ahead in my life. If that hadn't happened, I would have been stuck over there. If Joseph hadn't been wrongly accused by Potiphar's wife, he would have remained a slave for the rest of his life. So sometimes you may not understand why that happened.
Speaker 2: You may not be able to make sense of that setback. But can I tell you something? Even when it doesn't make sense, say, God, I trust you because you're in control of my life. I trust your ways. I trust your leading. I trust your timing. And I know that you will make all things beautiful in your glorious time. I really challenge you to leave a comment and share this with someone. And I will see you back next time. God bless you.
